I give them a strong 3 stars. It’s a decent hotel for a small town. They have complementary hot breakfast including biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, waffles, and others. The rooms were nice enough. The staff was very friendly and helpful apart from a communication error that forced us to re-create our reservation upon our late arrival. I think they accidentally put my inlaws in a smoking room. Their room smelled a bit. However, it was an overall positive experience, and their rates are very affordable.

Really nice hotel for a small town place. The staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean. The breakfast is surprisingly good. Waffle maker, biscuits and gravy, and bacon. That’s all I need to make me happy. Workout room isn’t much, but it’s enough if you want to run a mile on the treadmill. The pool is outdoor which doesn’t work out in the winter, but I’m sure is super nice in the summer. I give this place 2 thumbs up. They also give coupons for the local buffet which is very good for dinner. You’ll like it.

This is a much much older property. Keeping that in mind it’s going to have the inherent issues that an older property would have. But, the room was huge. They have great working free Wi-Fi. The heating and cooling work great. They have a business center downstairs with a color printer for your quick document needs. The price is a little high for the age of the property but not a killer. I normally stay at Holiday Inn Express as they are newer, easy on an expense account and everywhere. This property is leaps and bounds behind one of those but only cheaper by $ 20 a night. What they do have is convenient location which was great. I will say this. I was upstairs in a non smoking room. My guess is smoking is downstairs. I smelled a cigarette smell. I can’t stand that smell. It’s gross, gross, gross. If it were any stronger I would feel differently about this property. There was also a slight musty odor but I’m sure that is to be expected with an older property. I loved the lady that checked me in in the evening and the morning lady was super. They was super friendly and very sweet. Professionalism and customer service goes a long way with me. I had zero issues with the free wifi and the TV worked great. I feel I should mention that is it had been an issue with past guests. All in all I would stay here again. The rooms were comfortable and service was friendly.

Okay. Reserved my room on Best Western’s web site. I wanted to stay at the holiday inn in Sparta but it was all booked up for a gun show or something like that. So I got stuck here. Anyway, I reserved my room on the company’s web site. After 6 long hours in the car with kids I finally get here to check in. I’m told that since I left a note that I was bringing a dog, they had to move me from a non smoking room, which I specifically reserved, to a smoking room. Like, what?! I had two little kids with me and my wife is 8 weeks pregnant. We were NOT staying in a smoking room. This was a rule specific to this establishment, as the actual best western web site didn’t mention anything about this when I booked the non smoking room. After a phone call to the manager we were switched back to the room I requested. So the girl at the front desk hangs up the phone and says, did the web site mention there’s a 20 dollar fee per night, per animal? The reason I brought my dog was so I wouldn’t have to pay to board her. And NO. The web site did not mention that at all or I would have saved myself the hassle of bringing the dog and just boarded her in our neighborhood. So I get the receipt on day of check out and what do you know, the dog charge was on there. They have some nerve. I had such a crappy weekend I had no fight left in me so I just left. The hotel and room itself was just not up to par for what ended up costing me 104 dollars a night. Breakfast was hard bagels and room temp cream cheese. My little guys did enjoy the outdoor pool, but pool is not heated and was so full of water the skimmer could not work properly and bugs were floating everywhere. It’s too bad for Reid’s inn because my sibling just got married and moved to the area, so I had planned on coming out every three months to visit for two nights. They would have gotten 8 nights or more a year from me, but I’ll never come back. For that price I will stay at the much nicer, much newer Holiday Inn Express in Sparta.

So. they took my reservation quickly. I like that. And they offer free WiFi. I wouldn’ say it is cheap, despite this town lacking much in restaurants or industry. I’m looking at the TV in my 90 dollar single bed room… it is black. No working TV. It is 12:03am. I checked in at 5:00pm and told them my TV was a radio. I am shocked they haven’t solved this. So, it is all CNN sans picture for me. Will I return? Lord, I hope not. I don’t know what else is around, but I will certainly explore neighboring towns for future visits.
