This review is not about the food, since we didn’t even get to try it. We were there for Father’s Day brunch and my husband ordered the cured salmon. They took our orders & brought drinks out, then about 20min later our server came over to inform us they do not have the salmon. Considering that was the only item on menu that was the treat for my husband on Fathers Day, we were quite disappointed and upset that it took so long to find out an item is not even available. What made it worse is that by this time other places were done with breakfast items & we had to settle for lunch somewhere else. Very sad. Won’t be going back.

One of the best in the area! An amazing restaurant in a bland strip-mall setting. Don’t let the fact that Divine is in a strip mall turn you off. Go on inside. The food is very good! For dinner they always have at least two German entrees(Weiner schnitzel and jäger schnitzel), and the rest of the menu is a mixture of European and Asian fusion. On Monday nights they have«German night» with German specials and discounts on German entrees. The prices are a bit high for Chester, but the quality is top notch. The service is enthusiastic but at times a bit amateur for a restaurant in this price range. On Sundays they serve brunch with a selection of crepes, omelets and other breakfast treats. Desserts are imaginative but on the small side.

We went here for dinner while in town for an event this weekend. I will start by apologizing for not having any photos of the delectable dishes we ate but they were far too scrumptious to waste time photographing. The ambiance was inviting and chic. The food was indescribably delicious, and the service was attentive and knowledgable. I cannot recommend this place enough. Don’t miss this little gem.

It’s all in the name. Divine!!! Everything on the menu is fantastic. The butter poached halibut over split pea risotto and lemon air was world class. They have a great wine selection and the bar tender Alfredo is extremely knowledgable. If you haven’t been here, you are missing out on a real gem.

There must be 2 Divine Restaurants in Chester, because the one where I ate was sub par. German food is hard to find around here, and I love wiener schnitzel – good wiener schnitzel, that is. After seeing all the rave reviews, I drove 25 miles(one way) to have lunch at this place. I ordered the wiener schnitzel sandwich and a house salad. The salad came on a very small plate, because it was a very small salad – certainly not worth $ 5. Not only was it small, but unimaginative – 3 slices of Roma tomatoes, 6 thins slices of cucumber, and a handful of spring mix greens. My sandwich came with french fries – hot, crispy, and delicious. I had ordered the schnitzel not on the bun, i.e. bun separate. The sunny side up egg was lovely, and perfectly cooked. To me, wiener schnitzel is a veal cutlet pounded thin, lightly breaded, and quickly fried so as to be crisp. This piece of veal was heavily breaded, which soaked up the grease. The veal itself was chewy, and too thick. It was also perfectly rectangular, which led me to believe it was a frozen, chopped meat veal patty. It was something I might expect at a fast food restaurant, and no where nearly worth $ 11. Maybe they have a different quality of food at lunch, and/or maybe they have a second-string day-time chef. All of this might explain why there were only six other people eating lunch there at 12:15 on a Friday.

Living in the San Francisco Bat Area and having access to some really fabulous food, we were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. The calamari was better than our favorite in Maui, the mussels were voted«best I’ve ever had» by half our group and everyone loved their main meals and oh yeah, everyday they have a new flavor of Crème brûlée and as my favorite dessert, all I can say was delicious!

The small plate mussels are a must! The small plate tapioca breaded squid is a pleasure to the complex foodie. I highly recommend the pan seared salmon and the farm filet. The three onion soup was a perfect starter.

Divine is the perfect name for this gem of a Restaraunt. Our dinner was truly Divine and for a minute I had to remind myself that I was still in America. The menu is a perfect blend of German and American dishes. The Wiener Schnitzel is the best I have had since leaving Germany 34 years ago. You MUST try their Beer Cheese Soup! The owner is so friendly and makes a point of greeting all of his guests. You can tell it is his passion to share his German upbringing with his customers through the delectable dishes he serves on his menu. The service is impeccable and all of the staff greet you with a smile. The perfect end to my meal was their decadent chocolate mousse. The Restaraunt is tucked away in the River’s Bend Shopping Center in Chester, VA. If you are traveling by I95 or I295 you MUST make a stop here. You will not be disappointed!

Great food with great atmosphere, a gem located in the middle of yet another standard shopping center, it carries some creative and well curated dishes, the Wagyu Steak was amazing as well as the Lamb Chop Lollipops. Highly recommended!

European delight, taste treat. This is a find. I understand they have transitioned in the past months with new chief and staff to become a real euro eclectic hot spot. If you find yourself in Chester you owe yourself a stop here. Nightly specials, 5 course chefs choice dinners with wine pairings topped off with German traditions make this a top choice. After traveling extensively through Europe I can vouch for the taste treats this kitchen provides and the staff presents so eloquently onto your table. The staff here insures your experience is enhanced with excellence from appetizer to desert. Happiness in dining.

A surprisingly slick and sophisticated spot in an unassuming little shopping center in Virginia, Divine delivers on both concept and execution. House made ice creams can be either sweet or savory and are packed with flavor. Entrees and appetizers are well thought out and impeccably executed, with tasty and very fresh local ingredients. The menu is described as global eclectic, but there is a hint of Viennese sensibility that serves as a solid foundation for innovative modernist interpretations. The schnitzel was tender, well cooked and served with an excellent house spaetzle. Seared scallops were accented with duck confit and served with a duo of corn sauces including a very well executed savory corn ice cream. I found this place entirely by accident, being some distance from my usual haunts and seeking on Unilocal for anything even remotely promising for dinner. I’m glad I did. There is some remarkable chef talent at this venue, off the beaten path as it may be.

This place is Chester’s best kept secret. When we walked in, we were embraced by a very posh and sophisticated, yet small intimate aura. We ordered off the brunch menu. The Seafood Crêpe and Ham and Cheese Omelettes paired with mimosas were simply glorious. I highly recommend this place!!! I know this will be a top favorite spot of mine. Tiffaney

This is better than your typical German restaurant! Located in a very unassuming shopping plaza. Divine has a nice atmosphere not too fancy more of a causal neighborhood gem. What is extraordinary is that Divine is pushing the boundaries of flavors and creativity with its versions of German cuisine. The chef takes basic Euro/German dishes and infuses amazing flavor combinations into each concept. The menu is creative and extremely well prepared. I have visit this restaurant three different time in the last month and have not been disappointed. Also, the wine list is basic(could offer a few higher end wines) but fairly priced. Service is engaging, friendly, and helpful. Owner even like to step out from behind the bar and have a chat. One recommendation, go there soon! Once the foodie crowd from Richmond finds out about what is going on at Divine it will be hard to get a table.

I’m grading on a curve because I live in SF… I ordered the Snitchzel sandwich for lunch… the description sounded amazing… and I was feeling like I was going to have a legit German Snitchzel… tasted nothing like the description and I was slightly underwhelmed… the vibe however is very cool and they have a decent wine list… this place could never make it in San Francisco but for Virginia with a little work t could be stellar.

Great little spot! I can’t make any comments on the food, although I did read the menu & it looked very interesting; maybe a bit pricey. Stopped in for a glass of wine while visiting in the area. Very attractive place; very nice servers & a good knowledge of wine. Especially like it when you order, they pour you just a small taste rather than pouring the whole glass so you can see if it is what you would like. Great to meet both Willy, the owner & Brett, our server.

Wonderful food, ambience. Spoke with the owner at length, very kind, friendly and nice. Authentic German food! Lamb lollipops, salmon, brunch, live music! Ate here last night and came back for brunch today. Salmon crepes, spaetzl, yum! Pork shank is huge! Did not get it this time but will next time!

The reason you go to Divine is to get amazing service, incredible diverse food, personable owners(Willy and Karin) take such pride in their food and service. You may not be able to go to Europe for that special meal but going to Divine will get you a meal that is memorable and a great value. So get out if the hassle of Richmond and get down to Divine for an amazing adventure in food.
