It’s a cuteshop on Main Street but for a great cup of coffee I highly recommend walking to perry street and trying El Monte roasters. Always a welcoming environment with amazing coffee. Highly recommend El Monte Roasters.

Love Maria’s! Such a cute little spot for coffee and/or desert. They have a huge selection of both and I have always enjoyed my desert and coffee of choice.

After reading other reviews about rude service, I had to sign up for Unilocal to agree and warn moms with little ones that this is not the place for you. When we got there, at 8AM on a Sunday, we stood in line with our 3yr old and baby in a stroller. By the time we got up to the register we were the only people in the coffee shop. Immediately the woman(owner? Manager?) asked me if there was a baby in the carriage. I assumed she wanted to see! Nope, can’t allow babies in the shop bc it’s small and she’s running around with hot coffee. I said I understood, and she told me(not so nicely) that we could sit in the corner out of the way(again, the place was empty) but if it got busy we’d have to move outside. Okay, fine. It was a nice morning. As we were putting milk in our coffees, a couple came in. Two other people and my little family of four. Right away she said«okay I’m going to have to ask you to take the stroller outside». It just seemed a bit excessive to me, and she was quite abrupt even though I made it clear I was fine taking them outside. Again, I have no problem if she’s concerned about spilling hot coffee on my child, but she wasn’t actually serving anyone else in the shop and it seems customers get their coffee from the counter anyway. Coffee was fine, but since my husband works and I’m with the kids all day I will probably never go back in there because I’d have to curb my infant in order to get a beverage. By the way, we sat outside while she hosted an empty coffee shop the entire 30 minutes it took for us to drink our coffees and the kid to eat her bagel. Totally silly.

Coffee is decent, nothing to write home about. Staff is clueless, sometimes outright rude. Owner, well, gruff, and please don’t try to sell me jewelry when all I want is a cup of coffee. You don’t know who I am, and I may know more about jewelry than you think. Next time, I’ll walk around the corner to El Monte, they are always so pleasant, and their coffee is truly brilliant.

Coffee was solid. Interaction w/staff not so much. I’m a GDMI(Guide Dog Mobility Instructor) and was training dogs in the area. Worked one of my dogs in and owner or employee asked me to bring dog outside while I waited for my coffee — and said she’d bring it out to me. I clarified that it was a guide dog in training(dog had harness etc.) She said she understood and said that other trainers and blind guide dog users had come in before. She clearly understood the situation and apparently didn’t care that Federal Law guaranteed myself and the dog access to the establishment. Since this was clearly not ignorance and she was making an informed decision, I decided not to push the issue or make a scene. Something tells me when her regular customer rolls in with their toy poodle sticking out of a designer hand bag she doesn’t ask them to wait outside, even though that dog has no legal right whatsoever to be there in the first place. Just a hunch.

Really loved my time here! The staff was radically kind and welcoming, and the flower centerpieces really made the place a wonderful place to spend an afternoon doing work with the WiFi.

I came here with my family while in town for a funeral. It was a sad day and we were in low spirits. This coffee shop absolutely changed all that. There isn’t a detail over looked. There were fresh flowers everywhere and charming little notes all over the walls. It was a Saturday morning and the place was streaming with regulars. Maria knew everyones name and the young lady helping her was so polite and charming. We had pastries and coffee and it was absolutely lovely from beginning to end. If you are ever in Chester, you must stop here, although I doubt you’ll be able to drive by.

I have never felt so uncomfortable in a small town coffee shop the Owner rolled her eyes when I walked in the door mention multiple time that she hadn’t eaten hinting that we were bothering her. She rudely made us aware that the items in my hand were not allowed to be eaten her store even though I didn’t take it out of the container. I was embarrassed and was not treated as fairly as the people who ordered more expensive drinks.

We will never be coming here again and it’s all because of the nasty attitude of one person! I don’t know if she was the owner or manager but she was so rude, I almost told my husband to cancel his order! First she gives me a snarky remark to pick up my kids toy from the floor because someone might trip on it, as if I was about to leave it there! My kid just ran up to the counter to be with my husband, I had barely a second to pick up her toy before she said something. Then my mom was being a little selective about what kind of tea she wanted & this woman jumped in for the serving girl & was all impatient and rude to my mom. Then all of a sudden they don’t take debit cards under $ 12! You’re a coffee shop! Why would most of your patrons be spending over $ 12? My husband didn’t have cash, I didn’t have cash, who carries cash anymore? Finally she«made an exception» & let us pay with a debit card. I wanted to walk out by this point! We will never ever go here again! Lady-if you’re reading this, work on your customer service skills! People come to Chester to enjoy the season, you should be adding to the experience not detracting from it!

Wow. Talk about rude staff. From the young woman working the register to the owner. Both had some sort of attitude problem. Don’t ask questions or you get some eyes rolling and snarky responses. Coffee was good. I believe their bad attitudes and poor customer service is known due to the fact that another family made a comment to us on the way out that this was pretty much normal for the place.

The person who was serving today was rude, in matter of fact while they were other costumes still sitting at their table and other being served, I went to ask for milk and a cup holder for the tea I bought and she yelled that«now I’m gonna close the shop»!I just sat at a table when she ask me to stand up from the chair where I was sitting stating that the shop was already closed(while they were still serving other costumes). I had to though the tea since the cup was to soft… and when I was leaving the door I put it in the garbage can… oh Geez this lunatic came up to me yelling«oh now you are thronging this in the shop!» I apologize myself for putting it the garbage can and she end up saying«you look like garbage» Wow this is a nice way of treating costumers!!!

Where forth art thou? When most people get lost they are annoyed but not me. When I get lost I always stumble across a great find and this time was no exception. Small, almost hidden and unassuming, I found this yummy little coffee shop with homemade baked goods. Upon entering, the space is small with about 4 or 5 high and low tables, with a hutch on the side that holds all the condiments et al and on the opposite wall a refrigerator with the cold drinks. Adjacent to the front counter is a showcase of pastries and baked goods. On the back wall list the days specials as well as a list of hot and cold coffees and teas. You could tell the patrons inside were locals and clearly are repeat customers as they joked with Maria(I presume, the place’s namesake) and drank hot beverages on this crisp fall morning. I ordered a vanilla chai tea latte and a zucchini and sundried tomato quiche. Could have kicked myself because I forgot to order my tea with soy but oh well it was just a tasty. Hot mildly sweet and delicious. Honestly, I enjoyed the taste and appreciated the reduced taste of sweetness(sugar) that many of the popular coffee shops have in their flavored syrups/sweetners. And oh my, the flaky crust and the zucchini and the sundried tomato quiche was lite yet filling without feel stuffed. Nice homemade goodness. You could tell it was homemade not commercial brand. Who says getting«lost» has to be a drag? Next time you might find a gem off the beaten pathway to a place where you bookmark and glad that you«found»…

I have come here three times and I never leave without a smile on my face. The coffee is terrific, and the service is wonderful. But I have to say the baked goods are the best part. Absolutely delicious. You need to try the banana coconut bread with lemon lime.

First off, this place would be so much better if not for one thing: THESIGNS! There is a comment, warning, instruction or tirade affixed to every surface of the café. Don’t touch the cookie jar, upstairs is closed, this is not a drain just ask, etc. it’s become a running joke in my household. But still, they have tasty if sometimes too sweet pastries, they often have some live music and it’s in a cute section of town to watch old ladies from Staten Island argue while they go antiquing. If Maria seems a bit gruff, it’s probably because she’s busy thinking of new signs to write. If only they relaxed a bit this place would be amazing!

What a great little coffee shop. The brochette was amazing and the wine paired wonderfully. The live music and atmosphere was laid back and welcoming. The place was clean and tidy and the staff were warm and delightful. I would highly recommend this place on a beautiful afternoon. 5 stars at least. Thanx again.

Coffee = 3 stars Ambiance = 5 stars So 4 stars sounds about right. I got a mediocre cappucino and a piece of fairly good veggie quiche. Service was nice and the outdoor seating is an absolute delight.

This is a great little café to buy a cup and a pastry and then sit and watch the town stroll by. The food is quality, the shop is clean and diverse, the staff is helpful and welcoming. Call ahead and ask them to hold an olive bread for you, it is amazing.

Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) Great location(very cozy, quaint, and suburban) 2) Warm ambience to have a cuppa, read a book, or catch up with an old friend 3) Simple menu with basic choices… not frappa-$@#ito’s, whatcha latte’s, BS-coffee 4) There was a live guitarist Cons: 1) Order was done wrong… mixed up both size and flavor for my 2 friends’ orders 2) High-schooler behind the counter? Nothing against that, but if they could move any slower I could have run to Wall St. station and back 3) Very limited seating 4) Pumpkin latte was too sweet and had soup-like resemblance in flavor and texture Nice cozy place, but stick to the basics, and also you probably won’t find seating.
