This is one of my favorite restaurants. The fried chicken portions are seasoned great, crispy, and hot every time and the yams are so good I could make a meal out of them. The desserts are a must try especially the sweet potato pie and the pineapple coconut cake. Meal prices are reasonable and competitive with the surrounding restaurants and the meat portions are a nice size to satisfy the hunger of a hefty man. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and go out of their way to make your visit pleasant by accommodating your dissatisfaction. For instance, I once ordered a carry-out meal and when I checked my order an item was missing. They apologized for the mishap and not only corrected the order, they also gave me an extra dessert for my inconvenience. The only gripe I have is the waiting time to be served but this could be attributed to cook to order meals. If that is the reason, I can overlook the long wait because it is worth it. Just make sure you have the time to spare. I therefore give Mr. B’s a 4 star rating.

My Pastor swears by Mr. B’s, stating that he’s the best soul food around. Hmmmm, let me just say they were ok. I always get a little disappointed when a «restaurant» runs out of a menu item. I believe the first customer is just as important as the last with any restaurant. If you can’t keep up with the demand of wing dinners take it off the menu. I was also disappointed to find out that the deserts were out sourced. Soul food should feed the soul. My soul wasn’t fed.

Awesome southern comfort food. Friendly staff, and the place was nice and quiet. Prices were reasonable and the food was generous. The carrot souflet was heavenly.

My boyfriend and I dropped in for lunch one afternoon. The lady that took our order was very friendly but was very unsure about what they had on hand to order. My boyfriend order the fried chicken with carrot soufflé and greens. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Their chicken was well seasoned and was great. Carrot soufflé really good. I was very disappointed in the meatloaf. When I ordered it I asked if the meatloaf home made she stated that it was. It was more of a patty of beef. With no tomato sauce or anything. it tasted like Salisbury steak that is missing the sautéed onions! But I would give it another try. Just not the meatloaf. Oh the cornbread was yummy also!

We really enjoyed our food tonight. It was delicious! The country fried steak was outstanding, crispy and covered in brown gravy, yum yum yum! I will be back and I will get that again. The meatloaf was also good. I look forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes. Desserts looked terrific, but we were too full to try one tonight. We got friendly service and the food didn’t take long at all. Give them a try, they’re really good.

Looked forward to a great barbecue dinner from reading previous reviews, but it fell short of my expectations. I had the fried oysters which were tasty but very few on the plate. My son had the hot wings appetizer as a meal and my husband had the pork chop with gravy. All the dishes were tasty however all the side dishes were very salty. Not only was the mac & cheese salty but my son didn’t like the spice on it.

Went there with my youngest last night to try it out. Very clean, smallish place with a friendly staff. They specialize in southern cooking. We had hamburger steak and ribs. Both were flavorful and cooked well. Sides I tried were collards, fries and black eyed peas all very tasty. All the food was good but like southern food can be a bit salty. If you want a meal like your southern grandma would make check them out.

We dropped by for lunch on Saturday. We were promptly greeted upon entering and I immediately noticed the dessert case full of various cakes and bread pudding… my mouth started watering! I ordered fried chicken(¼ white,) green beans and mac & cheese. My wife ordered a pork BBQ sandwich and carrot soufflé. The meals came to the table pretty quickly and our items were served hot except my chicken was not as hot as the vegetables. Everything was pretty tasty, though being a soul food establishment I was expecting the chicken, green beans and mac & cheese to have more ‘down home’ seasoning. I did order a slice of yellow cake with chocolate frosting ‘to go’ and it was delicious. My only regret is that I didn’t order two slices because today is Sunday and Mr. B’s is closed! Great to see a soul food restaurant in Chester.

It was my first experience at mr. B’s. Unfortunately they were out of chicken fried steak, so after holding up the line to decide on something different, we decided on the barbecue dinner. Well guess what, they were out of that too. After finding out the drink machine overflowed and we couldn’t get a soda… we left. Three strikes and you’re out!
