My wife and I stopped in for lunch. It took ten minutes for the waitress to come over. We ordered waters, which she forgot until the end of the meal. We also told her up front, politely, that we were limited on time, and when we asked for the check, she rang up seven other people before finally brining the check. The waitress was rude to us, appearing irritated that we were in a hurry, which was not during lunch hour, but at 2:30 in the afternoon; and she scoffed when my wife declined her suggestion that we take the entirely uneaten and inedible chili to go. Another one of the items we ordered actually came with the check! We took it to go and ended up throwing it away, as it made better ant food than people food. We eat out daily; we even liked the old-fashioned, nostalgia-inducing vibe of Olde Post Restaurant; but we will never return. This place is history.

Breakfast is expensive enough. Why add $ 1.00 to the cost when the two eggs have only gone up by 8 cents each? good home fries, but breakfast is totally overpriced now.

The food is always great here but the service is beyond awful. I use to frequent this place for breakfast because of the outstanding food and I tolerated the average to poor service. My last(and final) trip in was around 8 am on a Sunday. There were four us there and we all ordered fairly large breakfast meals. About 10 minutes after the food arrived we were asked if we wanted more coffee, which we declined and were then reminded that there was a line out the door. We started to finish up our meal but within 2 more minutes another waitress came over and handed us a bill and waited next to the table for us to pay it and finish eating. She continued to make comments about how she needed this table. We were in shock and basically paid and left before we had been able to enjoy out meal. It was extremely rude. We were only in there for a total of 26 minutes which I think is an unreasonable amount of time to be allowed for breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Ya know, the food here is pretty darn great. They always have large portions, good meat and great waffles and omelettes. My main complaint is sort of endemic to a small town breakfast place. The waitstaff, though friendly, are slow. There is only one cook in the back(due to a small kitchen) so if it is busy you will have a LONG wait even if the wait staff is more active than normal. There are obvious regulars that have established good relations with the waitresses, but when the conversations and preferential treatment affects the service of the rest of the customers, then it is a determent as opposed to an asset. I really want to give this more stars, but I have had too many negative service experiences to give any more than 3.5

Service is very slow, waitstaff never notices we were seated and waiting. People that came in before us, got coffee and places their order before we were even recognized! Then we were told the menus were the pamphlets on the table!!! It’s a little strange being a new person we do not know the specials and they are only posted OUTSIDETHEDOOR and not know the location of menus. We felt foolish! The food was«good» but boring and lacked flavor. I found the menu plain and expensive. We decided one visit here would be enough. The reputation of this place confuses me because it isn’t as good, in my opinion, as what everyone is rating it as. Def been to better locations for a better price and quality of food!

Very cute — the waitresses were really cool/good with the kids. They made some really cool pancake art for our little ones. Very good french toast. It’s a bit on the spendy side for a basic breakfast. It’s tiny inside so I imagine that there could be a very long wait on weekends if you don’t get there fairly early.

Classic country café. The portions are perfect, the menu is classic, the homemade toast is a must! The service was quick and friendly. We’ll be back!

Worst service in the world, the best food. I used to live and work in Chester, NH and we would go here for breakfast and lunch quite frequently. I would put the Olde Post’s breakfast menu up against the likes of Manchester’s Red Arrow, Chez Vachon or Blake’s any day and the Old Post would win. It does get packed so be prepared to wait on the weekends, I’d actually recommend you avoid it altogether on the weekends. Make it a special weekday treat with your friend or child to wake up a few minutes early and pop by. I love their Texas Burgers. Their burgers are great and come on the most delicious rolls and are always cooked to perfection. Their fries are thick and crispy. You will leave smelling like a fryer. It is the price you pay for excellence. However, you will have the worst server in the entire world. She is the only one that works there for weekday lunches and she is inept, you may never get your drinks, the correct order or your food correctly. My recommendation for lunch is get it to go. Oh, don’t sit at the counter unless you like Fox News, that’s all that’s ever on… it’s rural New Hampshire after all.

I have been coming here for 30 years and still love it. It is a staple of Chester life. The homemade toast is the best.

My sister took us to breakfast at this restaurant a few weeks ago and we took friends back today. The food is great and the homemade cinnamon raisin bread is awesome! The only thing that makes it slightly less than perfect is that it is very small so sometimes you have to wait kind of long for a seat, but its worth it!

The Olde Post is a quaint place for breakfast or lunch. The food is always tasty and the service is spot-on. It does get busy on some weekend mornings, so patience is required.

This is a cozy little breakfast/lunch place located at the 121a/102 crossing. I love this place. For breakfast they make all their own breads and you have the option for homemade or regular. The homemade french toast is some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve had almost everything on their menu since I live relatively close. Prices are very reasonable and food is always fresh. I’ve never had a bad meal there. They do takeout or seat in and are open Tues-Sunday until 1:30pm.
