Silvia’s Cakes

Great delicious cakes! Even had them make our wedding cake! We get cakes for all birthdays here! Everyone should check this place out.

Excellent, moist and tasty cake! Only gripe… though may be considered petty… maybe…is that you don’t have the full selection of flavors on any given day, but this is smart business really! You don’t have to worry about extra inventory –which they may not have to worry about because their product is so tasty.
That is probably not worth a star deduction, but I don’t know how to give half stars. Always looking forward to getting our greedy hands on a slice of tres leches cake, but it is only available during a specific day –if they happened to make one that day since it takes such a long time to prepare and make. UPDATE: I had the chance to get a couple of slices of tres leches cake for the family, and I feel bad to say I was kind of disappointed a little, _​BUT_​as far as the cake tasting fresh, moist, & void of the chemically aftertaste that I’ve experienced at the previous other bakeries i have tried tres leches at, Silvia’s version is HEADS ABOVE the rest. For me, I tasted a hint of cinnamon –which was a tad offputting… just a little bit though…
Only thing that makes me unhappy is they are closed on Tuesdays and close early on one of the other days. :(

Coming from California the day before… I was desperate to find a cake for my wife’s birthday. By the time I was able to get there, it was 1 hour before closing time. Luckily there was one cake left. I had no choice but to take it. My wife LOVED it. The topping was not overly sweet and the inside was perfectly moist. Sylvia was super nice and helpful. Going back for sure.

I agree with Arthur’ s review but would like to add that the staff is very helpful and went beyond my expectations to make sure I had the decoration that fit my occasion. I won’t pick up my cake until Sunday but if it’s as good as the slice I bought, I’m sold. very satisfied.

I found this place while traveling down Chester Ave. After passing by several times, decided to stop. It is located in the middle of a small strip plaza and can easily be missed, if you aren’t looking for it. Upon entering you find the display straight ahead and the counter to the right. Above are several pinatas, leading one to correctly assume that it is owned and operated by a Latin. On my two ocassions to stop there, the selection was very limited. There were several slices and two cakes. All of them followed a common theme, white icing (really light and great) and white cake. The first time was more like a tres leches, while the second was more traditional, layered with cream, strawberries and pinapple. The price for either the slice or cake is fairly priced for the quality.
So why only 3 stars? The limited selection! If they offered more choices, I’d likely stop by there more often. However, based on the limitations, I can only stop by when we want that specific type of cake they offered on the two visits. Regardless, if this type of cake meets your cravings, I’d definately encourage you to stop by…
