I had my first sushi experience tonight at Fuji sushi. I had the teriyaki dinner with a California roll. I also tried the spicy chicken roll, Kentucky, and Colorado roll. Food and sushi was great. Waiting staff was nice… Didn’t know the menu comprehensively but was able to answer all our questions. I particularly loved the atmosphere… See the picture of the booth: it was a very large booth, private with curtains as well as cushions to arrange for comfort. I was with a party of four adults and we spent the whole evening there enjoying the sushi and atmosphere. Before we left the chef came out to meet us and see how her meal was– he was very pleasant and nice to talk to.

Used to love this place and it’s been clearly updated with new management. Prices have increased and service was horrible. So bad I walked out with my family of 4! Two different waiters passed by my table and I kept looking over at the server station in search of help. 15 minutes and not even water delivered to our table, not even an acknowledgement we were there. Will not be back. Other diners looked similarly sad but could not muster leaving since they had clearly already ordered.

Fuji sushi is now under new management. I’m postponing my review until we’ve finished our meal. The menu has changed somewhat in that it appears more limited. The restaurant’s interior has been updated with new lighting fixtures which are nice. Wait staff is friendly. We typically order the Fuji combo, green tea and a white tuna roll and did so tonight. The meal comes with miso soup which was good. OMG, the meal was extraordinary! The platter came and we were amazed to see additions that were never there before. 12 pieces of sashimi, pickles, seaweed salad, smoked octopus salad and even a couple of shiso leaves! The bill was slightly more than we used to pay but we got more of the extras. Fuji remains number one in our book and we will continue to come back.

This sushi place continue to be a gem. As I continue to visit other sushi locations, this one, is on a different echelon. Try any one of their specialty rolls and you will keep coming.

Great sushi place! I had the Temptation roll and the Samurai roll. Both were fantastic. I’d say the size of the rolls are larger than what I’ve had at other places. Friendly staff. Don’t let the fact that it’s in a strip mall turn you away. Go try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Since I am not a big fan of sushi, I was reluctant to dine here. But my husband convinced me that there would something to my liking. He was right. He had various types of sushi, which he loved. And I was happy with my chicken teriyaki dinner. Next time I think I’ll try the steak teriyaki dinner. Service was fast and friendly as well. I will definitely recommend this place to any of our friends, especially for those living around Chesterfield.

We ate dinner there for the first time last night and great sushi. They took a bit longer than we thought it was gone but worth the wait and will be back for more sometime soon

A bit pricey. But oh so worth it. The server Gin was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The samurai rolls and miso soup were delicious.

I visited this establishment based on fellow Unilocaler’s comments and I generally had a nice experience. I passed the restaurant initially due to poor signage(it is hidden in strip plaza) and arrived to a nearly empty restaurant, country music playing overhead and no sushi bar… it was a strange opening impression. The gentleman who served me is a student at a local school of optometry, very personable and ran the place alone(from what I could see). I ordered the James Bond roll, the Fuji roll and spicy yellow tail roll. All were fresh and tasty, but none were memorable. I finished with the Japanese ice cream in a rice shell and the server popped four of the self contained pieces on a plate in front of me(straight from the commercial ice cream container), added a dollop of whipped cream on it with a cherry and handed it to me. It was strange. All-in-all, the experience was strange and the food was ok. I will not add this place to my do-over list.

I have been a fuji frequenter for many years and it was both daughters fav, until tonite, we ordered the sashimi medium and it was 30 pc if paper thin for 40 dollars when I complained the owner made excuses and offered nothing to fix it! We are appalled, especially being somewhat regular there. My daughters will never return either! My wife is not the sushi snob that we are and she ordered udon noodles and they were expensive and sub par and a very small portion, this place has been going down hill for the last 5 yrs and we are done! Plus they over charged me by $ 1 each on 3 rolls! My suggestion is go to Fin from now on! Cleaner, better atmosphere, and Paul will provide equally as good or better rolls and fish!,

I love this place, from the ‘welcome’ that is played when you first walk in until you leave, everything is as a sushi experience should be. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. The service is always friendly and fast.

In comparison to other sushi places, I feel as though Fuji ranks better than others. It is not a chain which allows the owner to pay more attention to detail. Décor is simple, but pleasant. There is more focus on the things that matter. It really is the little things such as the ingredients and the quality. They make sure everything is fresh, and every detail is important. Rolls come out neatly and you can tell preparation was done right.

I’m probably one of the only people who ordered something other than sushi(which looked fantastic, by the way, and I’ve only ever heard great things). I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura and chicken terriyaki. The tempura had a great selection of different veggies, and was light, crispy and very hot and fresh. Tasted amazing! The dipping sauce was perfect. My chicken was perfectly cooked, with a nice grill taste. The terriyaki had a rich, concentrated taste and there was just enough of it. It was served with white rice and some mixed sauteed vegetables on the side. I would order this again and again. For dessert we split the green tea ice cream, which is absolutely the most refreshing dessert I’ve ever had. Slightly sweet. It was perfect. The best thing about this place is how incredibly friendly the people are. We were greeted with enthusiasm and warmth by the hostess, and our server was super friendly and charming. He recommended the green tea ice cream and I love him for that :)

At last! A sushi restaurant in St. Louis worthy of a 5 star review(: I came to the restaurant with two others to celebrate their birthdays. As we entered, we were greeted by the charming, cozy atmosphere. Our servers were super friendly, attentive, and polite. Our rolls included the Geisha(must try!), Cardinal’s, Crazy, Hungry, and Sunset. The restaurant is about 30 minutes away from the CWE where I live, but I would gladly make the trip back any day! I often feel that when I’m at a sushi restaurant in the CWE or downtown, I’m basically paying for the décor of the place, not the food. However, the fish at Fuji was SO fresh, which is not a common find here in St. Louis! If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend checking this place out!

One of the freshest fish in stl. The atmosphere is small and cozy, which I like! I think alot of modern/fancy sushi restaurants are popping up around here — all their money seems to go to their décor rather than their fish. Anyway, the thing that sets fuji apart from the rest is their attention to detail – all of their rolls are made intricately and taste wonderful. price was a little expensive compared to other places, but the service is attentive-waiters are polite and constantly refilling your drinks. They also recently started a full bar – the mixed drinks are yummy. Try the Samurai, geisha, and temptation roll.

It works. We had the James Bond roll. 2 servings because we liked first try… The place has nice atmosphere. Seems Korean owned. Wish they serve more Izakaya style Japanese bar food… They don’t have a sushi bar where you can see the fish, so I guess you just have to trust them that everything is fresh…

I’m not a japanese cuisine aficianado, but as the saying goes, I know what I like. And I liked my dinner at Fuji Sushi & Teriyaki. The setting is a stereotypcial old-style asian restaurant, meaning it’s smallish and simple, but also neat and clean. The employees were all very polite, soft spoken, and efficient with the service. My wife and I ordered hot, decaf green tea to drink, which they refilled for us multiple times during the meal. As typical for Japanese restaurants, the table had a sushi order form waiting on it. So we started with some sushi — octopus, smoked salmon, and a bunch of vegetable rolls. The octopus was decent, but I thought the smoked salmon was very good. Probably because smoked salmon is not very fishy. It all seemed very fresh. Of course, sushi better be fresh. The tables were all pre-set with menus, napkins and(interestingly) only chopsticks for utensils. I like to use chopsticks when at an asian restaurant, but my wife has rarely, maybe never, used them. So she asked for a fork, which they readily brought out. She actually wound up using the chopsticks for much of the meal anyway, handling them like a pro. We then each had a bowl of miso soup(which came with a spoon), which had a nice amount of tofu and seaweed in it. Entrees were teriyaki chicken for her, teriyaki shrimp for me. We both opted to go with tempura veggies instead of steamed — that turned out to be a very nice choice. Chicken was about a breast and a half, pretty good size portion. Chicken was typical flavor-wise. Shrimp was also a nice large portion. I thought it had a good flavor. Not overly special, but tasty. The teriyaki sauce was very good — I especially liked the generous amount of sesame seeds in it. They also provided additional bowls of the teriyaki sauce to dip everything it. Bowls of sticky white rice were included. Good thing it was sticky rice, because dipping it in the bowl of teriyaki sauce with chopsticks wouldn’t have worked otherwise. I really want to rave about the tempura vegetables. The included a long string bean, large broccoli floret, sweet potato slice, and a zucchini(?) slice. All were in a light, crispy tempura batter, deep fried just right. As with the sushi, it all tasted nice and fresh. And since we could hear everything being chopped up in the back, it probably was.

This place offers high quality sushi but is pricier than other Japanese restaurant(10−15%). On Unilocal,it currently shows as $$, but it might be closer to $$$. Restaurant is clean and well maintained, but other than there is nothing too fancy. If this is what you are willing to experience, I’d certainly recommend place. I have had excellent sushi and sashimi here almost every other week till I moved out to Cali, and I miss this place a lot. However, if you are happy with all-you-can-eat sushi at Chinese restaurant, then that is probably where you should stay. I tried other Japanese restaurants with better ratings on Unilocal, with one exception of Nobu’s, their quality was poor. This left me wondering why people comment on quality when they have no idea what sushi should really taste like.

Cute little place in a small shopping center. Nice welcoming environment. The food was a little pricey for the small portions you receive. We enjoy trying new sushi places and unfortunately this one doesn’t make it on the top 5 however, if you’re seeking a quick fix Fuji will indeed do the job! No negative comments to pass on, enjoyed a pleasurable experience. When i go out to sushi I’m more interested in the wow factor. I’d recommend checkin into some other places in the area
