My monthly date night with my busy BFF found us dining at Wampango on a Thursday night. We had the place to ourselves, which made me it bit hesitant… to my surprise, the food and service was delicious! We sat in the bar area, so we could take advantage of their Happy Hour(Half-priced appetizers and select drinks). We shared Yuca Fries, Ceviche de Atun, Latin Shrimp Cocktail. mmm… The Yuca Fries were our least favorite, but they were a good way to «cleanse our palate» in between the spicy shrimp and cool ceviche. I was most impressed with the portions. I expected to no longer be hungry after sharing the three, but we were both full! They did not hold back with the shrimp or tuna… We each had 2 glasses of red sangria, which on happy hour were $ 3 off — — Total bill: $ 36 I was not sure what to expect from a Latin restaurant at Chesterfield Mall, but I was very pleased.

Guacamole so-so. Reminds me of El-Torito chain. Good service, great chicken soup, great biscuits. Pricey on the«street tacos though».

Got guac… I would like to start by saying that their housemade guacamole was AMAZING. Funny that guacamole would be my favorite thing about this place since I don’t usually like it, but it was just that good! Anyway, the place simply looks really cool. Funky lighting, and a true latin feel. The blaring, obnoxious latin music though, not a fan. I got used to it. Their El Cubano sandwich was good, and my date’s sea bass was also very tasty. However, I thought it was a bit pricey for the quality and amount of food. Overall a good experience. And the half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays is a big plus!

I’m a Malbec lover and this place has the best selection in St. louis. Food is good but I if they are going to advertise South American diversity they need way less American dishes in the mix. Great ambiance. Check it out.

Wapango is a nice restaurant that is a bit pricey. I think it is because of the strange ingredients that they need to have on hand, and the food is good and so I forgive them. It’s just that I can’t get there as often as I like because of the prices. Also, the fact that they are so close to the Cheesecake Factory hinders my attendance as well. Still, the staff is very nice and the surroundings are lovely at Wapango. I have had good luck with the Carnivale appetizer the two times that I’ve had it, but it is $ 10 a person! Another good appetizer is the yuca fries and the expensive spring rolls. I honestly usually just stop at the appetizers because the quantities are good and the prices are high. Other times I come just for drinks, usually on Mondays due to the half price mojitos. I think that starts around 4 or 5pm, so check that out because they make a mean mojito.
