A road trip was rained out, so I found myself here waiting for the storm to pass. Considering the great Hooiser state just passed a smoking ban in hotel rooms are 7÷30÷2012, my room wreaked of smoke has a great number of cigarette burns and was stifling. The comforters looked as if they were from the 70s. I threw them on the floor and tried to lay as still as possible to avoid any further contamination from this place. Thankfully the storm passed and we were able to leave in a few hours. AVOID!

As budget motels go, this one is not a standout. I was glad to only be staying one night. My room was hot and stuffy when I arrived and it took quite a while for it to cool down to a comfortable sleeping temperature. The décor was not fresh: mismatched lampshades and lots of faux gold leaf accents on the dark painted furniture. It seemed there’d been some attempts to freshen the place up up; the walls looked recently if not neatly repainted. There was no hairdryer and no alarm clock. The shower head appeared to be optimized for people five feet tall or under; the spray hit me in the neck area, so hair washing involved some slight gymnastics. it was mostly clean, though, just a few stray hairs in the shower and some dust. The included breakfast was just bread for toast and prepacked baked goods, no protein, but there’s a Burger King nearby. It’s fairly easy to find from the freeway, though there is no sign at the driveway or on the building so I had to crane my neck to make sure I was in the right place.
