Excellent meal at the Bullhouse — chicken ceaser salad was fabulous — my husband had the shrimp/fish dish also excellent — service has improved over the years — we’ll be back !!

What a wonderful surprise! We stopped on our way through the area to our regular spot, and it wasn’t open for dinner until May. So, we turned around and noticed this place in the building formerly housing our original destination. We decided to go in, even though I couldn’t get an internet connection and Unilocal would not open on my cell phone! That was a little scary… We walked in and I have to say, wow. Nice décor, upscale, and not too noisy. Not expecting that i the middle of this small Adirondack town. Seated in a booth, we perused the menu and chose to start with the tableside guacamole. It was so fresh and I could actually taste the avocados. Maybe bland for some, but my days of high spiciness are sadly over. For my main course I had the caesar salad with sliced steak. The salad was a head of Romaine sliced in half and grilled– wonderful and different! Perfect prep on the meat and the dressing & parmesan just right! I tasted the sausage & corn chili and it was yummy. The corn bread needed something– usually for me it’s more butter(on everything) but it was eaten happily enough. Our server, Sharon, was helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back!

We were truly impressed by our first visit to the Bullhouse that such a high level of quality could be found in this small, out in the wilderness area of Chestertown. Could they do it again? We had been given a handout at the end of our previous visit that encouraged us to return in November to receive some kind of surprise. So, why not take them up on the offer? We arrived about 5:30 on a Saturday evening when there were only two other tables occupied and another couple was being seated in front of us. By the time we left, I think three or four more parties had been seated. I can understand now the reason for the«return in November» promotion. The local Paradox Beaver Bite IPA($ 6/pt) was again on draft and both us, without hesitation, decided on it. Our friendly server Joyce informed us of the evening’s specials as we reviewed the menu, trying to not order anything that we had tried on our last visit. One of the specials she recited was the Oysters on the Half Shell($ 11) that are also on the menu. We had wanted to order them the last time, but they had run out of oysters. So we quickly put our request in for them while we continued studying the menu. I won’t say they were a disappointment, but I think it’s one of those situations where you build up an anticipation over time of what you are expecting and then it falls just short of what you thought you would be getting. The chorizo flavor was not as full as I had hoped for, and I don’t think I noticed any flavor from the crumbled blue cheese. The corn and red pepper cream sauce however, was just right to not overpower the oyster and the broiled breadcrumbs on top made for a very attractive looking serving while also adding another texture and dimension. The Soup of the Day was tomato based with Mexican spices, diced chicken, and queso fresco($ 5 cup/$ 7 bowl). That sounded inviting to me as the weather was finally becoming more Novemberish. My wife was drawn to the Charbroiled Jalapeños($ 6). The soup was delicious, not overly spicy, with great flavor, and inner warming. I didn’t want to take a chance on spoiling it by adding the provided oyster crackers. The Jalapeños, sliced in half, were a nice combination of flavors with the cheese, bacon, and smoked paprika. Their spice built up over time, but they didn’t numb your taste buds for the next course. For her entrée, my wife chose the Quinoa Stuffed Chile Rellenos($ 13 entrée/$ 9 app.) with the optional Manchego($ 1). It was served with a red piquillo pepper sauce, a side of cold slaw, and a mix of green beans and carrots. The quinoa filling was a nice change from the more typically simple cheese approach. A very tasty dish. My choice of entrée was a menu item that was being featured as a special that night, the Prime Top Sirloin($ 19; 8 oz./$ 23; 12 oz.) with a creamy onion sauce. We’re talking«all natural baseball filet cut Black Angus, aged 28 days.» I like my steak rare to medium-rare, but I wanted to see what the kitchen believed was best for this cut and quality of meat. So I requested it be cooked to the Chef’s recommendation. It came out with a nice char on the outside and a beautifuly warm, rare inside. The flavor was exceptional. The sides were the same as those served to my wife, except I was also served cornbread and a choice of starch. I opted for the hand-cut fries. I had two disappointments with my dish. The fries arrived only warm. What a shame, because you could tell that the outside would have been even crispier if hot, and the inside was still soft and full of good potato flavor. The second disappointment was the serrated steak knife. Cutting the filet made me think that the meat was not going to be as tender as I was expecting. However, chewing revealed not only the wonderful flavor of the beef, but also the anticipated tenderness. The knife issue was confirmed when I cut my leftover portion at home with a sharp non-serrated knife. That was the most enjoyable steak I’ve had in awhile. Our promotion surprise for returning in November was a complimentary dessert. Having sampled on our last visit all but one of the offerings for this evening, my decision by default was a Pumpkin Tart with Cinnamon Ice Cream topped with cinnamon dusted whipped cream. This is one of those times when I’m grateful that my wife tends to be too full for dessert. She takes only a very small taste and leaves the rest for me. The tart was very good, but I could have eaten a quart of that cinnamon ice cream. Service again, was excellent. Our server Joyce was there to check on each course to see that everything was to our liking and she exudes a very warm and welcoming sincereness. I’m sure we’ll be visiting again, but maybe not until after the crocuses bloom.

Very good food and menu. The service was good and a great atmosphere. Also a good beverage list. Had to forgo dessert because the apps, salad and entrée are very filling. Our waiter, Jeff was very attentive. Will return again.

Went out to celebrate an engagement! A five star rating would have been awarded had the service been a little better! Other than that, AMAZING place to visit when in the Lake George Area. Service– Without a «hi» or «how are are this evening?», the server immediately listed the specials and then took our drink order upon approaching our table. That was our only problem with the server. While waiting over 25 – 30 minutes for our food(3MR steaks and 1 fried fish & shrimp entrée), I very kindly asked the manager(I’m assuming) if he had an ETA for our food. He responded very sharply and with attitude. His logic was that we were one of the most recently sat tables(lie, there was 2 – 3 other tables sat after us), and that because it was a holiday weekend, that it was gonna take a while. The restaurant wasn’t even full. Now, three out of the four people at our table work or have worked in the industry, we understand how restaurants work and we know what busy is… Not an excuse to give attitude to a guest. Food– Amazing, the previously mentioned 3 medium-rare steaks were cooked spot-on. They were seasoned appropriately, and were very tender to cut. The fish dinner was prepared very nicely as well. The sides for the dishes were also prepared nicely. It is not often that you can go to a restaurant and have your steak cooked perfectly to order. The prices were excellent for the amount of food that you receive. The BullHouse certainly knows how to prepare a nice piece of steak.

Great Family Dinner! We had 9 in our party last evening and found this restaurant to be very accommodating for teenagers through seniors. Trying to make reservations at the last minute is never a good idea but The BullHouse fit us in, great table as well. The food was very fresh and delicious, we were all too full for dessert but the table next to us had ordered some, looked delicious. The seasoning on the entrees was just perfect, not too much, not too little, just right. This restaurant is easy to find and quite close to Lake George just a short drive up the Northway(87) Exit 25. We will be back!

I can’t say enough good things about The Bullhouse. We were greeted warmly by the manager(or maybe owner) when we walked in, and were seated promptly, even though there was 6 of us. Our waitress, Jill, was very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, especially the Bacon-wrapped Dates(omg). What a nice, quaint setting to enjoy a meal with family and friends. If you haven’t tried this place, you need to. I will DEFINITELY be going back

One star because we didn’t get very far with this place. I walked in with 4 hungry senior citizens and no reservation for a dinner in early June. There was one table of 4 seated and one couple who had just walked in before us waiting for a table. After a while, a busy waitress came out with a tray full of food. As she was serving dinner to the only table in the entire restaurant, a well-dressed man appeared and promptly seated the couple in front of us; immediately giving them menus and taking drink orders. In a prissy, dismissive voice, this consummate restauranteur, apparently of a prestigious royal bloodline high above our shabby, lowborn selves, coldly informed us there would be a 40-minute wait just to be seated. He didn’t even stop walking, let alone greet us, say hello, or explain why – this brief encounter occurred as he momentarily glanced in our direction while on the way to fetch the preferred couple’s drinks. With only two tables and one already served their main course, I don’t understand why it would take 40-minutes to be seated. We weren’t in a hurry. We were never asked if we had a reservation or told there were other reservations before us. Even if it was just him and the waitress doing everything, adding a 5-top is doable. That would be 7 meals total – I could do that by myself with someone minding the front. Maybe we were rejected because this Bullhouse wants to be upscale and we were in shorts and t-shirts; although dress restrictions wouldn’t make much sense in Chestertown, NY. We walked out and won’t be going back. Next time it’s straight to Buttinos or Tin Teepee where they don’t discriminate. Great job, guys…

We stopped in here last night for dinner and we can’t say enough good things about the place. The food, service and atmosphere were top notch. We sat at the bar for Happy Hour for a while and chatted with Robin, the bartender. She makes a mean martini! We were seated near the window which was very pleasant and enjoyed the salsa and chips, both homemade. I had the salmon, which was melt in your mouth terrific and my husband had the huge porterhouse steak, cooked perfectly! The best baked potatoes ever! Our server was Sharon and Jill was being trained with her. Both friendly and I think Jill will be a great asset. Strawberry shortcake for dessert and we let stuffed and satisfied. We will be back! Maybe even tonight before we have to head home tomorrow!

When this first opened I was excited to see a more«high-end» restaurant come into the area… but I was disappointed. The server wasn’t bad, nor was the food, but the best part of the meal was the plate of homemade chips and salsa. Perhaps it was because they had just opened(at the time), but I wasn’t very impressed. I do plan to return to give it another shot.

Embarrassing, brought friends here from the city. Had reservations for 7:30 and were seated at 9:15. Undercooked Cornish game hen, 4 little ravioli with ice cold spinach in center of plate, and they ran out of sirloin tips by that hour. Service was slow. Clearly additional wait and kitchen staff are needed. Heat no longer working, had a coat on to eat dinner. They need to works the kinks out.

So many gluten-free options! Chips and homemade salsa come complimentary. Chili relleno was a new delicious spin on a classic– but not spicy at all. They make some desserts in house, which is nice. The portions are generous and prices are fair.

Ok, this is in a small town north of Saratoga Springs NY and I was really just trying to find a great restaurant, just a place to meet up with an old friend. But we happened to find a GREAT hidden gem that us right off the freeway(thanks Unilocal!). Nothing super fancy, but everything was executed perfectly. I was hoping to get the pork chops I saw in a review but they were off the menu, fortunately, they had pork shanks that we’re amazing. My wife had the rib eye that was cooked beautifully as well. Food: 4.5 Drinks: 4 Service: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4 Price: 4 Overall, I doubt I’d ever be on this strip of road again, but if I am, I’ll definitely stop back!
