I scheduled a visit with Dr. Castells in the allergy department. I had to wait months to get the appointment, but thought it would be worth it since she was rated as a highly competent in her medical field. When I got to the office I waited for OVER2HOURS past my appointment time to see a doctor. When I was taken into the exam room I spoke with a different doctor who was in training and then waited an additional half hour to see Dr. Castells. She didn’t even come into the exam room, I had to walk to her office. While in her office my conversation with her was interrupted TWICE by nurses coming to to discuss other patients. I was then sent to the lab for blood work. I was not informed that a part of my bloodwork was going to be sent to a lab that was out of the network, not covered by insurance, and would cost me over $ 800. If I had known this I would not have taken this test. This was after I called before my appointment to coordinate my insurance to make sure everything would be covered. I then received TWO bills from Brigham and Women’s… one for the dr visit and one from the office itself for a FACILITYFEE??? They refuse to code to my insurance company as a specialist office visit, which it was. It gets sent to my insurance company as a hospital visit, which it was not… I was in an office building. I explained to them that my insurance company will not cover the payment if it is coded like this, but they are not willing to work with me or help me with this fee of over $ 300. I feel taken advantage of and used. Basically this 10 minute visit with a dr and a simple blood draw is going to cost me over $ 1000. SO not worth it. Whenever I got to the doctors I call the office and my insurance company before my visit to understand the costs that will be associated with this visit. I tried to be an informed consumer. I feel deceived by this Dr.‘s office.
