What do you value in a liquor store? Wide variety? Good prices? That’s what I get a Gary’s. I wouldn’t dream of discussing notes of vanilla or oakey vs. buttery with anyone here. It’s not that kind of place. But if you know what you want, you can probably find it here at a very good price. The cashiers are efficient and personable. You’re in and you’re out.

Avoid this place. I shop there often. I usually buy Guinness for my boyfriend. I bought 2 cases as I usually do and the price was the same no problem. I went home opened up the case and notice the bottle size is now 11.2 ounces instead of the 12 ounces it usually is. If I am getting less why am I paying the same? I called Gary’s and asked to speak with the manager who was extremely rude. He proceeded to tell me it’s been like that for years which was incorrect as I just about the same amount (2 cases) about a month ago. He said he didn’t care and he was not going to lower his price. A simple acknowledgment and empathy would go a long way. They lost a good customer. They could care less about losing 1 or 2 customers because they have plenty more patronizing this establishment. I would go further pay more to be treated better. Gary’s needs to understand their customers.

I’m new to the area, so have been checking ALL the beer prices in Dedham, Norwood, and West Roxbury – not wasting time closer to the city. Gary’s is the best for selection and prices – hands down!
They also have a little deli in there and I had a kicking pastrami sammich!

So because I work around the area I wanted to get something quick to eat on my lunch break. I found out that there’s a deli in the back with all kinds of sandwiches, subs, meats, salads, etc. One time I got a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries for $ 8.99 & I think that’s a fair price because it was a huge sandwich. Ate only half of it because I couldn’t eat the whole thing in just one setting. Another time, I got chicken tenders (which you have the choice of original or buffalo) with fries and it came up to the same price. They have a huge menu with all the prices and I must say the fries are the best fries I’ve ever had. So good. I’ve never really bought anything else like wine or anything but I see other reviews say they are cheap. Other reviews have said that the staff is RUDE & luckily I haven’t encountered any of it but I have seen it towards other guest. As far as the deli in the back, I give this place a 5. But the staff brought it down to a 3.

I also had a terrible experience recently at Gary’s. I live nearby and frequent this liquor store. On my last visit, I was buying a twelve pack of beer and almost two cases of wine. I paid and was leaving the cashier when the owner quickly came over to the cashier to ask her if she had rung in the beer that was under the two cases of wine. I said to him «of course she did» and he looked at the cashier who confirmed that of course she did. The whole interaction was very rude and I felt very disrespected. I left and have no intention of going back there.

Terrible experience, terrible customer service. Over a simple mistake (that we apologized for), both the cashier and the manager treated us like idiots. The manager’s condescending and patronizing tone, in particular, was not appreciated, nor was his flippant «lecture» at the end of our interaction. The least he could do was treat us like actual adults, rather than brush us off and proceed to bash us in front of the other customers. If I could give a 0 out of 5 stars, I would.

Great Selection HORRIBLE STAFF.
I live very close to Garry’s and they have a pretty good craft beer selection, but their staff is just about the worst I’ve ever experienced. With the Exception of their beer guy David, I’ve never had a pleasant interaction with any of the Staff. I’m 25 and have been shopping here for years, I spend upwards of $ 100 most times I’m there and they wont even start ringing up my purchase until they put my ID (Im 25) through the slowest ID scanner I’ve ever encountered. They then stare you down LIKE THEIR DOING ME A FAVOR SELLING ME THEIR BEER, and begrudgingly ring me up. I’ve had better customer service at the DMV. Not worth your time or patience to shop here

I typically only write reviews for restaurants and not stores, but had to write a review for Gary’s. The selection at Gary’s is amazing and well organized. Easy to go in and out or really explore what you most desire before you get tipsy.
Their prices cannot be beat either. I always find the cheapest price here for any type of alcohol.
Also their staff are pretty comical. I find myself talking to them most times I’m there and they’re really nice.

Everyone here is super friendly, and happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for! Plus-a great cheese/cracker/snack counter in the back’. Of most places in West Rox, best prices.

They lost our order for an event, No apology. When I came to pick up the wine, one of the owners looked surprised, then conveniently disappeared in the back, leaving one of the clerks to deal with me. The clerk eventually found one case of the wine we had ordered (not enough though) and that was that. Rude, incredibly poor customer service.

I don’t drink, but if I did this would be the place I would go. I go here because the best part of Gary’s is they have a deli hidden in the back. Not just a place that has prepackaged (Boars Head) meats but a place that makes their own corned beef, turkey, roast beef, chopped liver, knishes, chicken and tuna salad, soups and daily lunch and dinner specials. They also have fresh breads for their sandwichs they make and a small gourmet section and assorted local cookies.

Convenient location, great selection and competitive prices. Gary’s is our go to spot. We always find something we like and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I appreciate that they take the business seriously and want to make sure you leave satisfied. Even the sandwiches are pretty good!

There’s just not ABC Liquor or Party Source in Boston, so what is a lush like me to do? Hop scotch from one place and one state to the other looking for the selection and prices. UNTIL I found this place. I think I could live with Gary’s and Macy’s and make out okay. Yeah, I think so.
Great selection and prices, hard to say it’s the best on everything all the time but it hits it well on the important stuff and that’s all you can hope for. Will be relieving them of some great premium liquor and wine bottles in the near future!

I spent some time comparing liquor and wine in the area. Between Blanchards, Macy’s, Costco, and Gary’s, Gary’s won for best price on everything. Not to mention they have some great hard to find wine and champagne labels. This is the liquor store I’ll go to first before anywhere else and I suggest you do too.
What my ratings mean:
1 star: Horrible. I’m annoyed I wasted my time and/or money here.
2 star: Not bad but nothing special. A decent place if you can’t find something else. I’d equate this to something like McDonald’s.
3 star: I enjoyed my experience there and would go back to try or do more things there.
4 star: I loved it and would be excited to go back. I’d also recommend it to a friend.
5 star: A real gem of a place. A must on anyone’s list.

Great Prices and a huge selection. I love their small batch gin and small batch bourbon section.
I first discovered Gary’s around the holiday which came in handy for Christmas Shopping. I have been a loyal customer ever since.

When I die, I’m gonna ask if I can make a pit-stop at Gary’s Liquors before I go meet baby jesus so I can stock up for eternity.
Seriously tho, this place has everything and I mean EVERYTHING for wicked cheap. Wine prices are the best in town, and there selection is to die for. Also, there hard liquor prices are usually pretty good.

it’s kind of far from where i live, but i definitely stop by gary’s if i’m in the area.
AMAZING wine selection! i mean… AMAZINGGGG
prices on wine are ridiculously low. i got a bottle of sonoma cutrer for $ 20 and a bottle of veuve for $ 35. what a steal!
not a huge variety of hard liquors, especially flavored vodkas and stuff like that, but everything they do have is fairly priced.
i’m a big fan!
