I’m a fan of empanadas. My mom used to make them when I was growing up… filled with ground meat, potatoes, and whatever vegetables she chopped really small so I won’t notice they’re actually vegetables, just to make me eat vegetables… they were so good though! 5411 Empanadas is a small place with a few tables and chairs for dine-in customers with a nice, hip atmosphere. They serve wine and beer for those who are eating in. I ordered the MALBECBEEF and SPINACH&CHEESE to go. I shared these two with my son once I got home because I wanted to eat them while they’re still warm. I love the flavors of the Malbec Beef. The meat was so tender and so flavorful. I just wish that there were more meat though. The Spinach & Cheese was also good although once I took a bite of the Melbac Beef, I couldn’t stop but crave for the flavors and texture of the meat:) Again, if this is closer to where I live, I would definitely come back and try their other empanadas!

5411 has delicious empanadas! They are soft and doughy and the ratio of filling to dough is perfect. All of them are delicious but my favorites are probably the date & bacon and banana Nutella. The bacon egg and cheese ones are great too if you’re in the mood for breakfast. Plus they serve intelligentsia coffee! Overall great place with friendly service.

So delicious. You will need about 4 to make a meal. All we tried were outstanding. Baked, not fried. Onky downside is they charge for sauce. First round of sauce should be free.

Didn’t know what to expect. At the end, I would definitely come back here and try the other types of empanadas. This is place is simple and to the point. Focuses on what they do best which is make empanadas. I ordered the beef, spinach & cheese, and bacon, dates & goat cheese empanadas. All of them weren’t dry and were full of flavor. The beef and spinach & cheese empanadas are delicious. The bacon, dates & goat cheese empanada was not my taste. I’m not saying it’s bad, but the dates didn’t add anything to the empanada. For me, ordering 3 empanadas was filling. It was decently price, too. They have free glass bottles of water to bring to the table. There is alcohol if you want to drink when you eat. Overall, a lovely place.

So yummy. Baked, so your pant elasticity problem has some leeway. Great place to bring your second wife. You can take her here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; there’s empanadas to suit every meal. Plus, the empanadas aren’t the only way to enjoy stuffed goodness. There are cheap rooms for rent at the attached hostel. My boyfriend and I shared 5 different empanadas: bacon/egg/cheese, spinach/cheese, beef, malbec beef, and ratatouille. I would say my favorite was the malbec beef and breakfast. All pretty good though. Great empanada culture.

Bacon, dates, and goat cheese empanada. I did the usual pre-bite routine: contemplated it from a couple of angles, tapped on it, sniffed at it carefully(didn’t feel it with my face this time), flipped it over like a turtle. Hoo. That had a lot of taste. Was it a dessert? Or an appetizer? It was equally sweet and hearty, and tasted like nothing I’ve tried before.

Yum! Favorites: Ham & cheese a total win, banana Nutella, caramelized onion/Parmasean, but most of all the bacon/date one!!! Can’t go wrong. Takes about 8 – 10 minutes to make, call ahead of you are in a rush and want to pickup. $ 2.50 per empanada. Have to try that flan sometime.

Once again Unilocal saved the day. My inspiration radar was beeping. Madly. With great vigor. And gusto. What? Aren’t you aquatinted with my inspiration radar? Basically it’s a radar, that’s starts to go nuts whenever I lose inspiration. Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep. Oh I guess I’m tired. I should go to bed and finish this review tomorrow. So anyways, we were walking along in Wicker Park, depressed because we had to leave Chicago soon, tired and with a caffeine buzz,(not a good combination) and trying our best to run across some good food. It wasn’t happening. Well there was food that was probably good, but there was nothing that inspired us; nothing that matched the description of what we were looking for. What were we looking for exactly? We didn’t even know. Something light, very tasty, fairly fast, and somewhat unusual. Finally in desperation, I pull out my phone and open the Unilocal app.(C’mon! I was trying to be a hippie((Or hipster, or something)) and live off the land without a phone.) Immediately 5411 Empanadas enters the picture. Empanadas, I think. Yes of course, empanadas! Here we had been looking for empanadas all along and hadn’t even known it. Empanadas would be something light, very tasty, fairly fast, and somewhat unusual. It turned out that they were indeed something light, very tasty, fairly fast, and somewhat unusual. I got a Malbec Beef, a Bacon Dates and Goat cheese, a Chorizo and Patatas Bravas and a Mushroom Thyme and Blue cheese. All four were bursting with flavor and fun to eat, but the one that really stands out is the Bacon Dates and Goat cheese. Think about it. Bacon, Dates and Goat cheese. Yes, that place is brilliant. Empanadas in themselves are brilliant. Have a dozen different kinds and need to tell them apart? Just make them all with their own unique shape. Pure brilliance. Actually I can’t even tell you how brilliant that place is. It lifted my spirits and satisfied my hunger without even enlarging my belly. It’s so brilliant in fact, that it’s worthy of my 100th review. Oh hey yeah! This is my 100th review! I thought about waiting to post this until it could be my 5411th review but I figured that by then, some nuclear-cyber-ISIS attack would have imploded this place into a black hole of digital flames. Either that or the clone that would have replaced me after I died would suck at writing reviews.

I was dying to try empanadas & this place close by. They are small but tasty. We tried 3: the bacon & dates, the spinach & cheese, and the sweet corn. Each were good but the spinach & cheese was the best. You’ll need to order a side of the Red Hot salsa to complete an order. The salsa was on point, very good. The ambiance a bit dry and uninviting with a waitress than needed to interact more with the customers, maybe even smile a little. Sorry girl but you’re in the service industry.

My friend was flying in to O’Hare and asked if we could meet somewhere for brunch off the blue line, so we decided on 5411 Empanadas. We had walked by it a few times before on our way to other venues, and were looking forward to finally do more than window shop. I opted for the breakfasty route — 1 ham & cheese, 1 bacon cheddar egg, 1 bacon & dates and for dessert, 1 banana & nutella. Although they advertise to be large enough to need two hands to hold, I thought they were kind of small… but not having had many empanadas, I don’t know what to compare it to. Let me tell you, what they lack in size, they make up for in flavor. These were excellently prepared, not overcooked, just the right ratio of dough to filling. I also enjoyed that they are all shaped differently, so you can tell which one is which by what shape it is… with handy picture menus to assist. This place made me want to check out some other empanada places, to compare and contrast, but I will definitely be back, as this was a real treat!

Super leckere empanadas. Besonders malbec beef und bacon, dates and goat cheese waren genial.

Was on my way to sultans market when I came across this place, and decided to come here instead. The place is small clean and simple. They got a good amount of wine and few beers on draft. The menu is straight forward $ 2.50 per empanada. They come in diff shapes and sizes per flavor. My favorite was the Fig Goat cheese with bacon. Its a little sweet, but its got that bold unique flavor that really stands out. The malbec beef, and chorizo patata are good but forgettable. The Chimichurri sauce was really good though. I wish they were bigger, but for $ 2.50 its a pretty good deal, and you can try a variety of them.

Tried the new chorizo, black bean, and egg empanada and it was amazing. Did another bacon and goat cheese one too. Still excellent and I still don’t like bacon. Ate inside this time too and had a beer. Great service. Nice and clean. Totally chill. Still diggin’ this place. Wish I lived closer, though my waistline doesn’t.

Great empanadas!!! I came here on a Tuesday after the lunch rush with my boyfriend and we were not disappointed. He’s Peruvian and usually only has empanadas on special occasions, I’m Mexican and have only had them a handful of times. But boy were we glad we walked in here. We decided to sit by the bar and start off with a glass of wine. They also have a small selection of beer on tap and some spirits. The atmosphere is modern, clean and stylish. Bacon, date and goat cheese empanada… ooh man… Savory and yummy by far my favorite. I can have a dozen of these. My boyfriend’s favorite was the chorizo and patatas bravas. We also had the beef, black beans chorizo and egg but I wouldn’t say they were anything special. The empanadas took about 10 minutes to come out, seems like they bake them fresh as you order them. Don’t forget to ask for the chimichurri sauce for an additional $.50. Skip the red hot sauce just get 2 chimichurri.

By God, this place is eternal! This little spot is packed away in the heart of Wicker Park, and they’re expanding! 4 locations and counting, AND a food truck that roams the downtown area! If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in for an Empanada or two. They’re only $ 2.50 each! The Chimichurri sauce is an extra .50, but who cares, get two! It’s bound to disappear in a matter of seconds. Believe that. We tried a few, the Chorizo, Dates, and Goat cheese, the Chorizo and Patatas Bravas, a Beef, and a Black Bean, Chorizo and Egg. All very delicious, but the winner and one that stood out amongst the rest, was the Chorizo and Patatas Bravas! We arrived shortly after the lunch hour, so it was just us and a couple people ordering to go, but we really liked the place. The décor is nice, sleek, and modern. The service was excellent, and the wine was also fantastic. Already planning my next trip!

MYFIRSTEMPANADA: so delicious. I cannot even handle how amazing and delicious empanadas are, and I’m trying to refrain from getting them anywhere else in case I’m completely disappointed. They were juicy and so flavorful, with a great breading to filling ratio. Would go again. My favorite was probably the steak, but the bbq chicken was amazing as well. I wasn’t a huge fan of the mushroom and blue cheese one that I had, but I think it’s just because I don’t like blue cheese… I don’t know what I was thinking.

AMAZING!!! I have never had such fresh empanadas before and with such great flavors! It is a small place but they do deliver and the air bnb peeps we are staying with say they do that all the time. Light jazz music was playing and there was a very comfy atmosphere there. Out of all the empanadas the best one was the bacon, dates and goat cheese empanada. If you go that is a must. Also get some of the chimichurri sauce to add and you won’t regret it! I wish there was one of these in California!

Very good empanadas. Since I’ve never had luck catching their truck anywhere, it was nice to see they finally opened this 2nd location, which coincidentally the first time I came here, I discovered by accident since I was originally gonna go to Sultan’s Market. Except for the malbec beef one(the sauce was slightly weird to me, but wasn’t terrible), I liked all the other ones I’ve tried so far. Sweet corn, chroizo and patatas bravas, ham and cheese, and ratatouille being my fav ones so far. I’d like to try bacon and goat cheese, mushroom and blue cheese, and the banana and nutella ones on a future visit. –1 star for not being BYOB though. The beer menu is short, slightly overpriced, and really I’d prefer that over a very limited beer menu, though to their credit isn’t a macro-dominated beer list. For whatever reason, I was more bothered by this vs. the 50 cent charge for chimichuri.

Don’t come here if ravenously hungry for a cheap lunch/dinner. Come here for a date/drinks/casual hangout with good friends when you want to avoid a bar. For $ 2.50 each, an empanada might seem a bit steep and arduous of an on-demand 8 minute toasting. But once it arrives in front of you, piping hot, you realize you have to wait 2 more minutes before you can shove it in your mouth and have it disappear in 3 bites because the filo pastry exterior is just that satisfying. The ingredients are extremely fresh and the cheese/sauce-to-ingredient ratio is perfect. Fernet on tap for $ 6 is pretty rad and I look forward to trying that too. Charging 50 cents for chimicurra sauce seems kind of cringe-worthy and skimpy from a business perspective; I’d rather that be factored into the cost of an empanada and given for free when someone orders 2 or more.

Came here about a month ago with a groupon for 2 dozens for $ 35. Had the Ham n Cheese(good), Pineapple Pork(ok), Spinach n Cheese(boring), Bacon-dates n cheese(too sweet), hazelnut n banana(ok), potato n chorizo(good), caramelized onion(boring) and maltec beef(good). They’re quite small so this would be a great place to dine if you’re watching portion intake. Groupon was a great deal, I just expected to be swept away by flavors but was disappointed.

5411’s bigger, better new location. Not only is it bigger but they have a little bar with a few beers on tap plus wine & spirits, woozah! I was on a bit of an empanada binge this weekend. My Argentinian brother in law makes fabulous empanadas thanks to his family owning a bakery back in the motherland… but…he does not make as exciting & inventive flavors as 5411! They had some really cooley high harmony combos I had to tune into. Bacon, Date & Goat Cheese — This is like a dessert in a tiny pocket. I’m getting this every single time I hit up 5411! It’s sweet and melts in your mouth. BBQ Chicken — A classic and although not my favorite of the bunch, this made me feel like I was eating a somewhat stable dinner and it is tasty. Sweet Corn — Corn, mozzarella cheese, sauteed onions, béchamel sauce and nutmeg. Another very savory empanada that I was completely on board with and would get again in a flash! Though this was my first time at 5411’s Wicker Park location, it definitely was not my first time having some of their empanadas! And it sure won’t be my last!
