A1 Chicago 24 Hour Towing

This place is such a rip-​off.
I got a flat tire downtown, and I have a terrible car jack. My boyfriend jacked up the car, and then the jack bent and tumbled over, dropping the car in the process. Without a jack to get the car off the ground, my boyfriend could not finish the tire change. According to his iPhone, the nearest roadside assistance service was A1 Chicago, so we called it.
About a half hour later, a truck showed up. The lug nuts were off and the spare was out of the trunk — all this guy had to do was get the car off the ground for us. He jacked up the car, removed and replaced the tire. The whole process took about 10 minutes. How much did it cost? $ 150. I asked the man why it cost so much, and he just mumbled an incoherent response. The receipt was not itemized, so I have no idea what the charges were for. Unfortunately, we were so desperate to get home that we didn’t have a choice but to pay.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, then I highly recommend called Dark Angel Towing instead. I’ve called them for roadside assistance downtown before, and they are a great group of guys. They did a COMPLETE tire change for only $ 50. We tried to call them last time, but they were too busy. That’s how we ended up with A1. Looking back on the situation, I would rather have waited longer for more reasonable service.
