Botanica Obatala

This Botanica has the most extensive selection in products and you get just about everything you are looking for. The people there are knowledgeable and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they def. have substitutes for it. The energy and vibe there is so positive. Huge selection for such a small space.

SOOOOOOOO Glad I stumbled across this place, great vibe the minute you walk in and no pressure. The readings are on point and she (Delia) even references back to your last reading to see how things are progressing or not progressing in a positive direction! Although they have the product you need in stock, she does give you advise on alternative/​natural options if you prefer. This place is clearly not about the money but about helping people in a positive light. No matter where I move I will always make the effort to come here for candles, statues, etc. (even bought this «T» stick here, which I learned in Miami is used as a mop! You just through a large rag over the «T» and you’re ready to mop!) :)

I went back to this botanica in July, and things have changed. Street parking has improved, however, those new fangled parking meters are now in place (so either bring your quarters, dollar bills or your credit card).
The aisles have been expanded and the merchandise is now more visible. When I went, the owner was able to assist me with my entire purchase (I came in with a list and she actually had everything on my list!). I was most definitely happy to see the improvements made to the store, and I will be a faithful customer.

There’s something like archeology in searching out the right thing in a tightly packed shop that’s just more rewarding than when everything is labeled and individually wrapped. It makes you pay attention to everything you’re seeing.
The proprietresses are really nice. One understands English just fine but doesn’t speak it well. The other is fluent in both. I am too, so I personally didn’t have a problem, but my non Spanish speaking friend was thrilled. She was also thrilled at the lack of ‘tude she experienced.
Botanicas aren’t always the friendliest places for non Latins to shop in, and I personally won’t shop in those. Cuz everybody is red and squishy on the inside and it shouldn’t matter. And, ya know, everybody’s money pays the rent so…
But! Botanica Obatala was nothing but lovely from the moment we walked in the door. Helpful staff, lots of neat stuff, and no ‘tude.
I will come back all the time!

I had an overall positive experience at this place. As soon as you walk in, you feel the positive vibe. The lady is very helpful and knowledgeable. A wide selection of herbs used in Santeria and sticks used in Palo.
A beautiful selection of plaster statues. Really nice to see considering that many botanicas are carrying more and more resin statues.
The candle selection was impressive as well. A few hard-​to-​find candles as well as many of your more common candles.
The only bad thing is that the store is a bit small so some of the aisles are a bit cramped. Other than that, a pleasurable experience!
