Braids By Mimi

I did not have the best experience. She stayed on the phone and on skype instead of focusing on doing my hair. It was so bad that she still didn’t focus on my hair after I let her know that I would appreciate her doing my hair instead of Skype and texting. After the unprofessionalism continued I paid for the small section she finished and decided I was going to go an actual shop to get it done. She also complained about being too tired to do my hair. I would suggest going somewhere else. She seems like a nice person but the work ethics are just not there. She did a corner of the back part of my hair and the kinky twist were not done well.

Mimi is great and very affordable! I called her a week before I need to get my hair done and she told me everything I needed to get before I arrived. My Senegalese twists were so cute and they lasted a long while. I’m definitely getting them again!

So much I could say about this person from having to pic her up and drop her off to having to listen for 2 hours while she yaked in my ear in a combination of African and French. She stated that she was fast but I think that only applied to her speech pattern in her native tongue. What she stated would take 7 hours at the most and 2 bags of hair turned into 3 bags and only 7 hours after I told her to weave the middle of my micros b/​c it was taking her so damn long. After paying her (so wish that I followed my first mind and told her to stop). I look and have a hump of hair sitting toward the top of my hair that is the «weaved part». The «weaved part» has a large gap of cornrow braids that if a strong wind came up would embarrass me to no end. This woman has no idea what the hell she is doing. I can only wear this hair in a ponytail or bun at this point. Oh and if you do decide to take the plunge please be certain that she eats first or you’ll have to feed her and «wait 5 minutes for her to take a break» with not even half your head done. I’ve already lost several braids in or near the front and it’s only been 2 days. I’m a fool I know for not only using her but paying as well. Lesson learned.

I am not happy with Mimi. I called Mimi on Tuesday for an appointment on Saturday morning. After talking to her several times to finalize plans I made an appointment with her for 6:30am at her home. I was coming from the airport and had to pay $ 34 for a shuttle to make the appointment. I called her several times on the way to her home and more once I had gotten there. SHE NEVER ANSWERED ANY OF MY CALLS! I stood outside of her home for almost an hour since I was from out of town and had no where else to go, which I made perfectly clear when I scheduled the appointment. It is now 11:30pm and she has yet to return any of my calls from the day. Who treats people like that? I would not recommend her to anyone!
If I could I would give her no stars! i have been getting my hair braided for 25 years and have never been treated like this.

In my search to find an affordable stylist I stumbled upon Mimi’s information. Lucky for me she is skilled in many types of hair styles.
I myself am not a native of Chicago and it was difficult for me to find someone that was knowledgeable about what I wanted and one that was very convenient.
I am a school teacher and do not get out of work before 4pm everyday. Teaching along with going to school keeps me busy most nights. Mimi was more than comfortable to come to my home and do my hair. She brought everything she needed and made my hair look great! She is very friendly and easy to talk to. She worked to make sure I was happy with my hair. She listened to my direction and did a wonderful job!

I called her and she was polite, professional, knowledgeable, and VERY friendly. I told her that I needed to find babysitting and she told me not to worry she would be able to come complete my hair in the comfort of MY HOME! FABULOUS!
We made an appt. for that same day and lo and behold she was ringing my buzzer at 5 o’clock on the dot!
For me she’s done micro braids and a Sew-​In but she can do ANYTHING. Kinky twists, Lacing, Individual braids, FUSION, cornrows, Senegalese twists, Interlocks, Tree braids, relaxer, whatever!
I’ve gotted sooo many compliments on my hair! She listened to what I wanted, asked questions, and executed it perfectly! She was fast but not so fast that my hair was rushed! She took her time and made sure I looked good! Her prices were reasonable too!
My braids are neat, comfortable, and FAB-​YOU-​LOUS! I’m all diva-​ed up now… You can call me SASHA FIERCE!
I’m am soooo pleased with the way my hair turned out I decided to Unilocal about her… She’s a small business that gives great service. People need to know about MIMI!!!
