Burrito Buggy, home of the best jerk chicken burritos in the city, is now out of business. Their phone number is disconnected and the place has paper covering all of their windows.

Love the Indian veggie options for that extra boost to get through the afternoon! Got three currie special, with chick peas, spinach, and the last one had like carrots and white cauliflower. What a neat change of pace. Colorful dish and reasonable portions. Thanks guys!

Back in the 1990s this place was awesome(I’m not even sure they had a storefront i 1995). I was a huge fan of the jerk chicken burrito with habanero sauce. I can’t tell if they’ve gotten worse or if the competition left them behind, but every time I get nostalgic and go back, I kick myself. The sauces are insufficiently flavorful and the meat tastes cheap.

Came here for lunch, surprisingly found this Burrito Buggy place was providing indian food. This place has 3 large tables only, 6 seats for each table. you will need to share tables with other people when you come for weekday lunch. Price: $ 6.99 for Curry plate– 3 entrees plus rice and bread. $ 5.99 Curry bowl– 1 entrée plus rice and bread. Taste: It tastes better than it looks… and it tastes just ok. Service: for some reason, they need to bring your credit card to the back of the restaurant to swipe. so the line is very slow even the food is ready there. but people are actually nice here.

What the hell is up with this place??? Is it a burrito joint, or is it an Indian food place, or is it a gyros place? You choose… they’re trying to do all three at the same time and you know you can’t do that successfully in a small, single location. It doesn’t instill much confidence and the fact that the burrito cost more than the advertised price didn’t do much to help. Overall, a very average burrito(jerk chicken) and a little light on meat for $ 7. Add to this the fact that I felt like the place was a tad dirty didn’t help my experience. I think there are much better options out there than this.

My boss makes me pick up burritos from the buggy every once in a while. It’s not a place that inspires much confidence. When I’m going out to pick up lunch, I will grudgingly buy his burrito, but not anything for myself.

Can’t beat the Jerk Chicken Burrito — one of my favorite all-time burritos from anywhere I’ve ever had a burrito. It’s certainly a dive, but I’ve only eaten in once and usually get take-out. Some of the other specials are good as well. The Gyro burtitto is OK, not great. The red snapper burrito is killer, but I think it’s only offered on Fridays. Don’t get any of the«standard» burritos, they’re nowhere near as good as te «specials». I’ve never tried food from the«other side»(Indian now, but it’s been other things in the past) — it looks a little dodgy, but who knows? Someone else’s review mentioned asking them to make a Chicken Tikka Masala burrito… now THAT I may need to try.

Jerk Chicken Burrito is super spicy. Prices are better than Taco Burrito King.

This place has an identity problem. It’s not sure if its an Indian, Mexican, or Greek restaurant. Half of the restaurant is a fast food Indian restaurant, and the other half is a Mexican mad scientist stuffing everything in a tortilla and calling it a burrito. The food here is decent and affordable. In fact, I would say some of the Mexican food here is better than a handful of other places in the Loop… but this isn’t one of those places I ever have a craving to go to for lunch. I do know people that come here ever week and rave about the jerk chicken burrito. Just not my style.

After a few years of their burritos I think I am ready to retire the Jerk Chicken. No longer does good things to me. The Friday fish burrito is still the bomb. I now order it with pinto beans. Boss. I look forward to it all week. Everyone who works there is great and should be supported just on the basis of their friendliness, never mind this awesome fish burrito.

Dont really understand what people are ranting and raving about best burritos around… lol. I went w/the Gyro Burrito yes I understand not the most authentic burrito to get but people talked about like its the next thing of Greece and Mexico joining countries. Dont know why people think this guy was the first ever to think of this creation but step up yo Gyros game 10 years ago they were cool peps. HA! Being a burrito professional, I had to check out the hype here at this dump. Im totally all for dives, family owned rest, whatever the case is I love going to local places. The smell of couple day grease is not really appreciated as you walk in nor do my clothes for the rest of the day. Well on to the place, the menus are scattered everywhere. Not organized, yeah im being picky but there are different menus everywhere. Gyro burrito is not on the main menu but if you go to the register its written on a board. If you want Indian food you ahve to walk to the other side of the small restaurant. Yes they have CHOICES between Indian(bc they are the owners), Med(you get bored w/indian so you migrate to Indian, lol), then mexican bc of the cooks. Put them all together and you get this dump, not dive. :) Oh yeah the fish, thats just bc it can be frozen and stored in freezers for who knows when. Order a gyro burrito w/everything for here… Food came quick, grabbed a bottle of hot sauce, who doesnt like spicy?!? It was pretty basic, gyro meat, tzaikti(spelled wrong), and onion. Thats it… No tomatoe? maybe even lettuce, it is cheap? lol Basically it was just meat in a burrtio shell. Really creative right? Well it was just ok. I will go back to try the Jerk Chicken burrito, but it will be to go that is for sure! :)

Amazing! That’s the one word I would use to describe the food at Burrito Buggy! I have become a burrito snob after having the steak burrito here! It seems wrong to get it anywhere else and I can definitely say that this is the best burrito joint in town! My favorites are the steak burrito and the gyros burrito. Yes, you read that right… the gyros burrito. You HAVE to try it! I’ve heard some great things about the jerk chicken burrito as well and will have to try that one next. Here’s the twist on Burrito Buggy… if you aren’t feeling Latin food… you can get Indian food there as well… oh and fish and chips. The Indian food is wonderful and not only does it taste good, but the amount you are given will last you two meals. The butter chicken is fabulous! The fish and chips are yummy too. I love the shrimp! The service is great and the owner is super friendly! It’s packed during lunch time, but you don’t have to wait too long. Seriously… this is the best burrito in town! Oh, and they are only open Monday-Friday until late afternoon. It’s worth checking out!

Can’t decide what you want? Indian, Mexican, Jamaican Jerk, Greek? Burrito Buggy is your answer… and surprisingly they do all of it well(ok I can’t attest to the Indian food). Can’t decide if you want a burrito or a gyro? Why not get both, yes this is home to the infamous Gyro Burrito. It is just what it sounds like, a 5 pound brick(only a SLIGHT exaggeration) of gyro meat, taziki sauce wrapped in a fluffy mexican tortilla. If the UN needed a food to represent their cause this might be it. Warning — If you operate heavy machinery, do not eat one of these beforehand. It will knock you into a coma faster than a lunesta/ambien cocktail… Pretty sketchy interior, but my rule of thumb is the sketchier interior usually the better the food. Who cares what it looks like inside when you can get crazy concoctions like a red snapper burrito. Try the char chickened quesadilla if you are looking for something a little lighter than the Gyro Burrito. Then again, you could probably eat a dozen donuts and a deep dish pizza and accomplish the same thing…

If you’re looking for a place with the cuisines of Mexico, Jamaica, Greece, India, and lots of fried fish, all under one roof — this is your place. It’s like a round-the-world airplane ticket in a restaurant. So far I’ve tried the fish sandwich special and the jerk chicken burrito, and lived to Unilocal about it. My friend got the red snapper burrito on a friday, and also survived. I’ll keep going back until the Buggy either closes, or takes one of our lives, either of which seems eminently possible.

Wandering the streets near work I found this place. I was headed for Taco Fresco but it has evidently closed… hmm so I rounded the corner on Van Buren and bam! Burrito Buggy. Wandered in and told them I was in the mood for tacos. I was told they had a taco special, 2 tacos with rice and beans for $ 6.05. My checking account can deal with that so I said sure. The tacos are giant! I could have easily split the two tacos I got into two more. I like my tacos with chicken, cilantro and onions. My co-workers may not like my decision but I was pleased. The chicken was a bit dry but it was char chicken. Poured a little green sauce onto the rice and it was good. It was small mushy rice but I was pleased. Beans were a bit lacking, I’m more of a slightly runny refried bean kinda gal but this will do. I’d go back… no biggie Buggy. They also have what appeared and smelled like curry and some sorta fried veggie puff. Gyros too!

This place as unique as it is, I have no idea what would make it one of those places that is as good as it gets since I haven’t hit much places that does«fusion» in this direction. Anyhow, this is another update from a year later, this update comes on the fact that I can’t help but to crave one thing or another from them, their Jerk Chicken Burrito or their Gyro Burrito. Both of which they have remained consistent in the times of returning and that is what keeps me going there time and time again. Their Jerk Chicken burrito has a certain level of spice that is very enjoyable and not offensively hot as some other restaurant that I will not note that’s near by. Though to be fair, the heat level is the only thing that’s a fair comparison against that restaurant. Now their Gyros Burrito, is, oddly enough, more of satisfactory than another gyros shop that I will not name that’s also near by. This is one of those things that I have thoroughly enjoyed and is also a staple of my choice. Now in terms of the Indian Food, it gives you great quantity and quality that makes you feel that you had got your money’s worth. Certain things on this side of the menu I would come for but I can’t exactly recall it. Still great!

Blah city! That’s what I get for ignoring the sign. I decided to try Burrito Buggy for lunch since I’d heard some good things and it was close to my office. If I were smart I would have turned around once I saw the sign. I’m not talking about a metaphorical sign, but a literal one, and it read«Now Serving Gourmet Indian and Mediterranean Food.» A Mexican/Indian/Mediterranean place? I guess I was feeling daring because I decided to give it a go. The inside of the place is nothing special, which is being a bit generous. The place doesn’t seem dirty, just unloved. The interior could stand a fresh coat of paint, updating, better lighting or something. Maybe if they had some real tables it would be more inviting too instead of the long folding tables in the place now. If I had to guess I would wager that Burrito Buggy changed ownership given the expansion in menu/cuisine(they also serve fried fish and shrimp). However, I was impressed that there are 3 different varieties of veggie burrito and decided to go with the Killer Veggie — beans, lettuce, rice, cheese, pico de gallo and hot sauce. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly and quick, but my burrito was bland, bland, bland. Not even the two kinds of hot sauce they provided did enough to spice up my burrito. I couldn’t even taste the pico de gallo and the beans weren’t drained enough, my burrito was dripping all over before I even got halfway through it — gross. Bottom line: They need kick the namesake dish up a notch to get me back to ‘The Buggy.’

I will have to admit this place is not bad. I generally try to avoid places that have a noun following the name of a food item; ‘Burrito Buggy’, ‘Taco Hut’, etc. The place is a dive but no one eats here for the ambiance. I stopped in because I noticed they started serving Indian food as well. Everything is cheap and they get it out to you pretty fast, it’s just probably not the healthiest thing to eat on a regular basis but in the few times I have been here for lunch I have not found something I did not like.

I literally did a double take when I saw a sign announcing that Burrito Buggy is now serving«Indian and Mediterranean food». The interior looks like a typical taco joint. There are two lines, one for the Mexican food and one for Indian(the line for Indian food is much shorter). I tried the lamb curry, with fairly spicy chunks of lamb swimming in a sauce with pieces of onion and spices. It came with basmati rice and salad. I also ordered gulab jamun, sort of an Indian«donut» that is made of a ball of fried cottage cheese in heavy syrup. Tasted good, but only one oblong piece for two bucks means I won’t be ordering it here again. One of my friends had a samosa, and the corner he let me try tasted ok. The taco plate ordered by my other friend looked very ordinary. I think I’ll have to try the butter chicken sometime, as one of my co-workers likes that dish.

Err, its alright, very fast food-ish, and they tend to put too much pico de gallo in their tacos, but all in all, its good, relatively fast, and fresh Mexican fast food. I think their pre-mades are a bit overrated, but are actually good when you get them fresh(especially if they ran out). Tacos are good, especially with the meal, though like I said, they put too much pico de gallo. Burritos are okay — they are a bit smaller than I like, and puts too much beans in them. Penalty points for overall quality, lack of, and no horchata. Some bonus points for quick service, okay prices, and consistency.
