This place has The Best Terriyake chicken Ive ever had! I always try to make it here while Im in chicago as its in the mall so I can get some shopping done as well! There are slices of ginger in the chicken that makes it taste so amazing, and they cook the rice perfectly. More please!:-)

This is the hidden gem of sushi spots. They have sushi items that are priced at $ 450 to $ 6.50 a roll. They are super fresh. My favorite is the salmon skin maki. Open till 6PM Pretty good sushi for food court sushi.

Meh, indeed. I think I need to finally admit to myself that there aren’t really any options in this food court that I want to eat, ever. Tried the sushi at Café Typhoon today, and I won’t have it again. I went safe and got a California roll and some other boring no-raw-fish roll, because let’s be honest, I don’t trust raw fish from the mall food court. Tasted a bit old to me, and actually pretty much had no flavor at all. Unless I’m craving Potbelly or Panda Express, I’ve got to remind myself to skip this mall food court & go somewhere else.

Hrm, a sushi place at a mall. The tuna roll had bits of fish… kinda felt like they hid the ends in there. Edible but barely. The flavor spoke for the cheap price($ 5). Will not be back unless desperate.

Meeehhhh. Sushi is beyond food to me. It’s like a religion. I try to be forgiving of pre-made sushi but this place was pretty bad. Practically the only thing satisfying about it was that the copious, mushy rice was filling. Mind you, its not sticky like sushi rice should be… it has this weird over-cooked-macaroni texture to it. You can’t really taste anything but the rice and even the wasabi somehow didn’t have much flavor. I suppose I should give them a fair shake and try their Chinese food-style options(I am intrigued by a previous reviewers raving over the broccoli beef). As for service, I was the only one there(perhaps a bad sign?) but when I asked if they made sushi to order and they said yes, I ordered two rolls and they handed me something from the case??? I may go back for their other dishes, but I’m not sitting through this sushi again.

Grossest sushi I’ve ever had. Please don’t eat it. It’s so warm and mushy and tasteless. I’ve given it not one, not two, but THREE tries and I wish I would have stopped at the first attempt. Yes it’s cheap, but it’s for a reason! It tastes like it’s been sitting in the sushi lady’s car for a few days. I’m giving this place two stars because their seaweed salad is OK. But then again, how can you really go wrong with seaweed salad? My advice is to go to Trader Joe’s down the street if you’re looking for cheap sushi on your lunch break. It’s tasty and less expensive. Plus you don’t have to go through that weird food court that’s constantly blasting justin bieber or chris brown.

Their sushis are bad and i didnt even think about gettig raw ones jut because it looks gross and not fresh. So what i got was the salad with ginger dressing, which was surprisigly really good. And i got california roll too, which tasted pretty decent for the price. I might back for quick lunch option but not gonna get raw sushis there.

If you want cheap sushi while you’re shopping, this is the place to go in a pinch. An unagi maki was only $ 4.50 served with 8 pieces. Awesome deal, right? Well, the eel was quite rubbery and I almost stopped eating it, but my parents raised me to never throw away food. The California roll was only $ 3.50, but I didn’t try it.

Ugh, what was I thinking?! I had been here and not liked it that much before. But, I walked in today and everyplace had a long line except for here. That should be everyone’s first clue! I had sushi and green beans and chicken with rice and some combo sushi thing. Both were gross. The green bean dish was oily. The sushi was not so fresh and I ate half of it and threw it out. Yuckers! Oh, and Panda Express just opened, which is going to be trouble for them! Pull it together Café Typhoon!

I’m not very particular about my sushi, and thus it’s got to be really bad sushi for me to give it such a low rating. I did give it an extra star for the fact that they made me a fresh veggie roll because they didn’t have any, but not sure what about their rice/seaweed wrap and/or veggies just didn’t taste right. I mean, sure, of course, it’s food court sushi, but really that’s no excuse for something this bad and tasteless because there are other food court sushi places that can and do make better rolls! With so many of much better food options in this food court(Mezza, Jaffa, Potbelly’s), I’m not sure I would ever recommend this place to anyone.

Meh is definitely how I feel about this place. It’s near where I work, so if I’m craving some sushi or some Chinese food, it’s ok. I’ve had worse I guess. The sushi is weird. It’s oddly squishy. I have had both the California roll and the shrimp tempura sushi and the middle part was sort of soft and flavorless. The vegetable egg rolls are also squishy on the inside. I’m not sure if the vegetable part has just been cooked too long or if it has too much oil or a combination of both. Out of all the things they have, I would recommend the green bean chicken the most. It’s still average, but it’s the best dish. Contrary to what others have said, I have always found the service to be friendly. Overall, I think if you are in the area and want some quick Japanese/Chinese food, it’s ok. I would never have a craving for or make a special trip to Café Typhoon, though.

Let’s be real about what this place is… it’s fast, inexpensive sushi in a food court. You can’t possibly expect that it’s going to be as good as, say, Kamahachi. But you know what? That’s okay sometimes. I tend to get 2 rolls for lunch about once or twice every two weeks. Definitely satisfies the cravings when I’m in need of a quick lunch pick up.

Say you are shopping and have this urge for Japanese fare? Just the bit of rice and a bit o raw fish to tame the beast? Fine, come here for a quickie fix, be ready for the boxed sushi taste, though, you know, the kind you get when your sushi comes inbetween two pieces of plastic and so does your soy sauce. If the teriyaki chicken roll(yes they have that and I got it, go ahead and chuckle) tastes better than the spicy salmon… that’s right, go with the cooked dishes. The raw will leave you unsatisfied.

Here is what you come here for:\ 1) For when you have cravings for super cheap & quick udon. Their Typhoon Udon is only $ 5.85!!! 2) Cheap, quick, decent tasting Chinese Food(on select dishes) –E.g. My husband had the chicken string bean dish and it tasted pretty good for a fast food asian place! DONOT come here for Sushi — my friend had it and she was making all these weird faces as she was eating it… and eating it slowly… the rice doesn’t taste right and the sushi is not fresh. She said it’s better than Jewel-Osco sushi(which, as you know, isn’t saying much hee hee) but clearly not better than restaurant sushi.

I asked the lady when the rolls were made and she points at a dude making them, «so they were made right now?» she nods yes, ok cool. I grab a spicy salmon roll and I spy the sushi chef making a Philly maki roll so I ask if I can have it and he says«yes». Not even joking, the one he made fresh for me tasted old and the rice seemed kind of overly sticky at certain points and hard in others. I think they need new rice. Oh and as for the salmon one I got from the«fridge» well you could have told me it came from Jewel and I would have believed you. Gross rice, salty salmon, lingering feeling of regret. AND they charge 25 cents for low sodium soy sauce. No more buying sushi at lunch in the same building that sells crocs… ugh

The sushi here is actually pretty good, all things considered. And if you are in the mood for something hot, the string bean chicken is where it’s at. Yum. About the seaweed salad… there is a teensy tiny portion of seaweed salad on top; underneath is a mound of lettuce. It only looks like it’s a huge seaweed salad. But I’m knocking this place down to one star because of the customer service. I have been going here at least once a month for lunch the past 4 years. The staff are rude, especially the lady at the checkout. Food — decent Service — poor

You know when you’re in a food court(that looks pretty good), and you really don’t know what to get, then you go pick a place based on some random feeling, then you order something(una don, eel over rice), then you realize that you really don’t want to eat it, but you don’t have the heart to cancel the order and inconvenience the place, so you pay $ 10 and eat it anyway? Then you walk the mile+ back to work semi depressed that you could have went to Billy Goat Tavern and got a chezborger(for the first time) for a lot cheaper. Yeah, this is one of those places

Food court sushi is right down my alley! Yes, I’m a poser and not too proud of it since I only like California rolls. Sushi purists say that is not real sushi but I say to you, why have it on the menu then? Anyways, I like grabbing a pack of California rolls and an order of gyoza for a quick and easy lunch all for 6 bucks.

So my co-worker and I have this bet going to see if the chicken gets dry and tougher as the week goes. She gets her chicken katsudon and I once in awhile get the spicy chicken. The chicken in both dishes tends to be more like a tug a war session earlier in the week with both dishes. We aren’t sure why this is because we come right when they have fresh batches. Eh? Maybe it’s towards Friday when it gets tough? Either way — we both are always playing hit or miss with them. The rolls are a quick pick me up before you go back to work. They don’t have my eyes rolling to the back of my head — but they are you know just good enough. To add to Stacey A.‘s comment — I agree. She has some sort of militant style to her. I can’t describe it, but I’m scurrred!!!

Would I like some really fresh Philly Rolls for $ 6? Yes. Yes I would. And the lady who mans the register? Is awesome. And I’m pretty sure she’d kill me in a fistfight.
