I saw a short mention in Timeout Chicago and I decided to check it out based on what it covered. The blue line coffee crawl was something I had never done before but I wanted to check out these cafes as well as learn a little something more about roasting, brewing, and technique. Starting off at Gaslight’s roasting, we went through different techniques for iced coffee/cold brew coffee. The tastes were definitely different just using the same beans. No more hot coffee over ice for me! Ipsento showed us the differences between natural and washed processed beans. Caffe Streets brewed coffee in a Chemex and a V60. Overall, definitely worth getting up early to check out the cafes let alone learn a lot more in a relaxed setting with people who want to share information.

I would highly recommend the Caffentures experience to a casual coffee drinker like myself or to a more experienced and knowledgeable coffee aficionado. Each crawl provides a unique experience for its participants with a minimum of three caffeinated stops and a tasty educational adventure with a coffee professionals. All the coffee professionals I got to meet combined both basic and more advanced information to ensure everyone was entertained and challenged. They were open for questions and definitely didn’t exude that«I’m too cool for school» vibe I feared I’d encounter.

Was super excited to discover a coffee crawl group in Chicago! Jen is incredibly sweet, fun, knowledgable and an excellent guide. We went to Gaslight, Ipsento and Caffe Streets, which were all great choices for stops. Each café had a unique vibe and approach to coffee and did a great job sharing that with everyone on the tour. I think everyone came away armed with knowledge, gusto and turbo caffeine energy. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning for coffee newbies, enthusiasts and the curious!
