The steak cemita was mostly bread not a lot of filling and the rice didn’t have much flavor. I took it home(2 blocks) and it wasn’t even hot. It’s close to my house but even then I wouldn’t go back.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. I used to go to the Cemitas on North Ave at that location the cemitas were so good. at this new location on Armitage it really sucks. We order for the first time lime a month ago. Totally disappointed no flavor, small and they only gave us one small salsa for each cemita. The salsa didnt even taste good. We payed $ 30 for 3 cemitas which is ridiculous specially since the food is NOTGOOD!!!

Went here once when it was on North Avenue. Back then it was the hottest day of the year. This time it was the coldest. Not that it matters. The new place is much nicer, cleaner, etc. Food was just as good, maybe better. And they have a parking lot, so no worry about street parking. Will find a reason to head back. It’s well worth it.

Very disappointed, I was really hungry I order a chicken cemita, was very dry, no flavor. Meat was cold, I had to add salt, bread was OK. good SALSAS.

I ordered a carne asada and al pastor sandwich. There was such a small amount of meat on them that you really couldn’t taste it. It just tasted like avocado spread and a ton of cheese on a roll. The roll was good, but obviously if you pay for a meat sandwich, you’re disappointed when there is no meat.

Food is incredible and the staff is very friendly. Best tortas in town. The Atomica is my favorite. The bread taste freshly made and it is plenty big.

Best food at all 3 of their locations think the one on north ave is closed now. I had some picked up from there earlier my mother in law brought it. Ate the food later reheat it. Guess what, it was still gooooood!

I am so disappointed. My sandwich looked sad and the meat was dry, the guacamole tasted old and I basically just picked at the cheese. The cheese was the only good part about it. I also asked for a receipt in which the cashier said he would bring us one only for it to never happen. I was looking forward to them opening back up on North Ave but it’s ok, I’ll pass!

Still spot on. The décor isn’t anywhere near as classic as the original. Looks like a chipotle inside which sucks. But the food is what counts and it is still amazing.

It hurts me to write this review. I first discovered Cemitas Puebla almost exactly a year ago, soon after the West Loop location opened. My sister was visiting and I heard some awesome things about these beautiful sandwiches that I knew we had to try it out(the fact that we had an A La Card didn’t hurt either). At that time, we were amazed by the sandwiches — the juiciness of the meat, the delicious heap of cheese, the variety of sauces we couldn’t decide between — everything was amazing. Sadly, since then, I have returned to the West Loop location once and have tried out the new Logan Square location — only a short walk from my place, I couldn’t have been more excited! Unfortunately, it just hasn’t been the same as that first amazing experience either time. My boyfriend and I both got cemitas(I got the pollo, he got the arabe), tacos(al pastor and chorizo), and guac. Even though the cemitas were supposed to be the star of the meal, they definitely fell to the background. The meat wasn’t as flavorful and the worst part was all you could really taste was cheese. There is definitely something off in that meat to cheese ratio cause it’s something like 1 to 4. My boyfriend said he didn’t like the meat on the arabe, which was a downer cause I definitely talked this place up. The tacos were pretty good — you can’t really go wrong with either option and the guac was good too, but nothing I couldn’t make myself. The service was nice, the place was clean, but to be honest, that stuff doesn’t really matter if the food isn’t good. Anyone want to claim my Cemitas Puebla A La Card for 2016? I probably won’t be returning.

A bit disappointed but not surprised. Very americanized and the food is not the same as it was in their old and more humble location. It seems the recipes are made to please a certain type of people so if you are expecting authentic you wont quite find it here. So disappointed. My family is from Puebla and I gotta say this place would be a disappointment to my fellow Poblanos. The place is clean and very plain no colors and it feels cold and tasteless. I must admit i don’t think i will be going back anytime soon. Im glad their business is growing but what type of crowd are they pleasing? Oh well.

Supposedly this is only a pop up location until they get their Humboldt Park location open. But Cemitas, please stay!!! We love having you in the neighborhood! You are delicious and wonderful for everyone’s tummy! As everyone probably already knows, the Milanesa Cemita here is pretty amazing. Perfectly fried pork!!! YUM! I am not really a fan of the carne asada. Definitely not worth the extra $ 1 that you have to pay. Even if it wasn’t an extra $ 1, it’s still not worth it. I’ve also gotten a quesadilla here before but it’s really very very greasy… Blah. Grease bomb. Also, the horchata here is probably my favorite in the entire city of Chicago! It’s perfectly nutty and not too sweet at all!

Great food, friendly people — you really can’t go wrong here. I’d actually never tried Cemitas Puebla in their previous location, but when they moved right across the street from me I had no excuse to not try it out and see if it really lived up to the hype. I keep getting the same thing there because it’s so good, so my review can’t really cover the diversity of the menu all that well — the carne asada sandwich is delicious. The sandwiches come with a generous amount of Avocado(lots of places cheap out since it’s expensive), the meat is deliciously seasoned, and the sesame buns really pull the sandwich together. My favorite part of Cemitas Puebla, though, is that any time I walk in there every single employee is friendly and has a genuine smile on their face. That’s a weird thing to say about a «fast casual» place where you’re not being waited on, but really — it lifts my spirits every time I walk in there and people just seem happy to be there rather than looking like every other employee at every other restaurant just trudging through hoping the day will end. That sort of thing goes a long way when I have literally hundreds of possible options for places to eat, and although the food is also great, the smile it puts on my face to see everyone in there being so nice and friendly seals the deal and keeps me coming back.

I’ve had the atomica and pastor cemitas and the taco arabe. I can’t decide if the atomica was delicious or disgusting. There was something I loved about it but also something that didn’t seem right. It definitely was not great warmed up the next day. The pastor cemita and taco arabe were delicious. I ordered through Caviar and the delivery was very fast — it was at my house less than 30 minutes after I ordered.

I was a huge fan of the North Ave location, and went there at least every couple weeks. I’ve enjoyed their sandwiches and tacos/burritos to compare the old food with the new food. Although their new location is clean, and very modern compared to the old location the food isn’t the same. It’s almost as if there is a new chef or owner at this location. Can anyone confirm that this is the same head chef and owner? Three stars for cleanliness and having OK food, but nowhere near the outstanding stuff that they had at the North Ave location. Maybe it is a growing pain of the new location with new staff, maybe I’ll try it again, but for now I’m not thrilled about how the food tastes at the new location.

We had heard about this place when they used to be on North Ave. We were excited a location opened that wasn’t downtown. I was told the interior is very different with clean walls instead of pictures of the owner like North ave had. They staff is very nice. Got our order right and it tasted delicious. We had lots of staff interaction including a member coming with 3 types of salsa to our table and explaining them to us. The Chipotle Verde and Red sauce. I mean it was a way more then I expected. The steak cemitas are wonderful. The quesadilla apetizer was a perfect prequel to my meal. I’ll be going back for sure.

Glad to see they are back. They have wonderful sandwiches and 3 tasty sauces to try. It’s a little more upscale now but works well. Would love to see something on the side of the sandwiches; perhaps a few tortilla chips. They are inexpensive, fill the plate, tasty and would give me a better sense of value.

One of our favorite Mexican sandwich joints is currently running a «pop up» shop at the intersection of Kedzie & Armitage in Logan Square. The food is great and certainly high quality and full of flavor. While we’re sad it’s only planned to be open for a year( ) we’re totally stoked it’s so close to home. This is no Taco Bell my friends. Not cheap but totally worth it.

Cemitas Puebla is back! The food is just as good as the old location and the service and space are twice as nice!
