Chase Bank

When I’m downtown and need a Chase Bank, I usually go here because of its convenient location. Yesterday, I needed a document notarized. The Banker who assisted was named Kevin. Based on his demeanor, he was assisting only because it was his job. Sour disposition, no smile, shook my hand only after I offerred mine. The document I was having notarized was for a Title Company and showed that a large sum of money would be wired into my Chase account. Here is a Banker who didn’t even ask about the money, my plans for it, if I needed investment information, etc. When I rose from my chair to leave, I even mentioned that I was surprised he didn’t inquire about the funds. He had no reaction. Good looking out for new opportunities for Chase Kevin! Those dollars will be going to another bank.

The staff is friendly, however, I am always waiting in a long line for a teller. They seem to have an abundance of personal bankers who are available but typically only one teller for 5 – 10 people in line. There seems to always be someone asking the customers in line what they are there for, but it doesn’t make the line go by faster. It seems they definitely need to staff more tellers here.

I started coming here January 2014 when my job started making deposits over there. I immediately fell in love! Cathy is the sweetest woman ever (even though my high maintenance boss calls all the time) and is always incredibly helpful.
I love Lizette also! I make deposits there every day and it’s always nice to see a smiling face and someone who looks happy to be at work. She is super nice and always helps me with all my crazy questions.
George is awesome. Because my boss is high maintenance when it comes to deposits, I end up with a lot of questions about our business account. George always takes the time to explain things so that I understand them and so that I can make better decisions based on our accounting in the future. I am very grateful for a bank where I know people and their faces and names, and that know mine as well. Highly recommend.

The people working at this bank are extremely rude, horrid, and mad at the world. I don’t know why they do customer service work if they are just bitter the entire time. Its like no one ever taught them how to be polite or have common courtesy. I came in without an i.d. since I lost it. But I had my card from chase and another one from the bank I belong to from back home. I was willing to answer security questions and what not and the teller (male) was extremely rude and laughed at me. Then he proceeded to ask me the middle two numbers of my ssn out loud and I didn’t feel comfortable so he just yelled it across the glass. I was so infuriated. The older african american woman who was middle aged was extremely rude the time I was there too. I HIGHLY suggest going to the headquarters Chase bank on madison st., or the one on wabash instead. Its relieving to see that these douchebags are actually the common denominator.
Moreover, I have been living in Chicago for the past 6 years and this bank location only got this bad customer service wise a few years ago. It has only gotten worse over time.

This is by far the worst bank I have ever been to. The teller assisting me was extremely rude. Considering she was on her phone as soon as I walked through the door. As a matter of fact she is always on her phone. I’m sure Chase does t prohibit anyone haveing their phone being the teller line. What made me more uncomfortable was the teller next to her eating a giant sandwich in front of customer view. I know Chase isn’t a company where they don’t allow their employees have a lunch break. She was assisting someone as she took a bite of her sandwich. My company made a switch from Citi bank assuming we would have quality service… i guess we were wrong. This Chase is garbage… Please remove these people.

I am so upset!!! I was trying to save money on a vacation and utilized a website called Vacations made easy. After purchasing tickets I tried to make a second call to that company, a recorded message saying, «the number you have reached has been disconnected.» I got this message three times. Now I am frantic, and call my bank (Chase), they assured me that they would take care of everything and refund the full amount of the charge. Fast forward to today. I check my Chase account and they took the money out and gave it to vacations made easy. Chase does not have my best interest at heart. I received nothing from this company and yet I paid $ 300.00 for it! I am sick, I feel taken advantage of, and over looked as a hard working individual with a family to feed (or not).

I was very concerned after watching the following video about how Americans are being ripped off by Wall Street in their retirement accounts. What most disturbed me was when the head of JP Morgan Investments said that a fiduciary agreement isn’t necessary for clients. That fiduciary agreement prevents a company from promoting their interests over a clients. My own personal experience with JP Morgan was when they wanted become my successor trustee with the right to sell all my secures and have them replaced with their mutual funds. My heirs would have lost all the interest and dividends from my securities with this transaction. Beware of JP Morgan and other banks that will act only on their interests and not yours.

I’ve been banking with this branch for over a year, and everything has been pretty smooth. I am greeted with a smile, and am taken care of in a timely fashion. I really have no idea where the majority of you are coming from.

This bank has changed management in the past few years and is BY FAR THE BEST bank I have been to and the best bank I have ever even heard of someone going to. A few weeks ago, I was in a rush and walked in 15 minutes before they closed. George, the manager, was thrilled to help me, stayed late, and treated me like I was a friend. (I should note that it’s not like I’m bringing the bank great business– my deposit to create a new account was $ 30.) George is absolutely amazing at creating the perfect fit of Chase accounts and services to fit individual customer needs, spending habits, lifestyle, and age. After going back weeks later, he still remembers my name, knows my life plans, and asks to see pictures of my dog. I never expected to get treated so well, and look forward to doing more business with him and his crew. Seriously… go here. It is great!

Similar to the other reviewers, my experience with this bank has been awful. When I had an issue making a deposit, the branch manager was very rude. Rather than trying to understand my frustration, she completely disregarded my complaints and did not try to help me whatsoever. Consequently, I went to the other branch just north of this branch on Michigan Ave. and had a much more pleasant experience. Since then, I have used this branch and have been pleased.

I’m so glad to see that other Unilocalers have spoken against this branch… I will add my two cents, maybe Chase will PAY attention… he he
The branch manager (I won’t give names, but message me if you really want to be prepared for a fight with her) is the rudest, most disrespectful branch manager I have ever seen in my history of banking as a US Citizen, which say’s a lot ’cause I’ve seen them all.
I started with the American National Bank at school program as an elementary school student on the Westside; and continued with the bank as it became First Chicago, then Bank One and now J.P. Morgan Chase.
I was wrongly charged a horrendous fee and promptly marched into this location to get my money back.
This branch manager acted as if I was asking for the money out of her pocket. When I asked to review the Checking Account agreement she threw the pamphlet at me and walked out of the office in the middle of my question.
When I started feeling like Rosa Parks and did not get out of the seat, she had a security officer come in and ask me to leave.
Later, (which is why I give 2 stars) I returned to the location in a angry fluster, determined to close all of my accounts, but Karen Connors saved the day. She apologized, which always helps, and gave me a little paper book to keep up with my transactions… I use it and believe it or not, it helps.
But you can bet your bottom dollar, the incident was reported to Chase Bank.

I opened an account with Chase to have a separate account for personal spending vs household expenses. When I opened the account they did not give me the cash for opening the account stating I did not qualify for it, they then in turn did not tell me that I did not qualify for a lot of the perks that Chase has. On top of that, when I was in Hong Kong, where there are no Chase Branches, they charged me a service fee for accessing my balance at a non-​Chase ATM, charged me a fee for making a withdrawal and then charged me the conversion fee. Now I do believe I should not have been charged twice for a transaction since I am already paying Citibank for the withdrawal, but a fee for looking at my account balance? I have accessed my Citibank account from any ATM and gotten the account balance and had never been charge a fee. I believe that customer service is a much for banks and for Chase to just treat me like I am some kind of brainless twit, open the account and then charge all kinds of fees is ridiculous! The other thing is that when you go to a teller, forget it! The main branch, on Madison and Dearborn, employees the worst of the worst when it comes to customer relations. You would think these women woke up on the wrong side of the continent. They give you an attitude when you ask any questions about your account and then they do not even answer your question. it is as if they went through a 3 hour training session and just disregarded what they were taught about the customer comes first. They would rather gossip back and forth with their fellow employee’s then make your deposit or answer any questions you might have!!!
The thing that ticks me off today is Chase closed my account for some kind of inactivity but I have money going into the account every pay period and I withdraw it right away because I hate this bank. Today I went to go withdraw the cash and this is when I found out it was closed. Now they have my direct deposit and I have no account, so now what? I was informed to call they number on my card and after wasting 10 mins on the phone with someone in India that could not give me a straight answer she finally talks to her manager and told me I had to go to the branch and so the circle has begun. I told her that Chase can go screw themselves (hope that call was recorded so they can see I hate them as a bank) and that she was no help and hung up on her.
You can bet your ass I will tell every one of my friends to close their chase accounts! I have been with Citibank over 10 years now and they have never treated me like I was some kind of dumbass they could just walk all over. I guess this is what I get and I should just utilize just my Citibank account!!!

It doesn’t matter what branch you do your banking at THIS BANK SUCKS!
I have a credit rating of 827, owe less than 30% on my current mortgage, have been a customer for over 25 years, have a set income and was assured I would qualify. HA! ! In December 08 I sent in all the forms AND… $ 395. Now I am told they are not doing ‘condo’ mortgages.
Give me a break! Don’t give any money upfront. They don’t refund.
