Chicago Pet Care

I have been using Chicago Pet Care for a couple years now and they are amazing! My husband has to go out of town for work a lot and sometimes with not much notification and I know that I can always count on Chicago Pet Care. I even have to email Debbie sometimes the morning of and I know I can count on their services! Our little schnauzer (Monty) is our baby and they have taken great care of him. In fact there was one time when he was a sick little puppy and they went above and beyond to make sure he was ok. I appreciate them so much and I would recomment them in a second!

Debbie and Chicago Pet Care are fantastic! We only use them for occasional walks for our shih-​tzu, Milo, but they do such a great job and Milo is always well taken care of. I love the notes they leave us (Bill’s are always especially great) letting us know how Milo was, etc.
Recently, my husband was admitted to the hospital and had to have surgery unexpectedly and Debbie accommodated two, very last minute walks for us on separate days so I didn’t have to leave the hospital. She also showed great concern for us as well as Milo and was happy to help however she could. We are so lucky to have found Chicago Pet Care and I’d recommend them to anyone for walking their pet!

I’ve hired Chicago Pet Care twice and have been very pleased with the experience. I’ve traveled a lot for work over the last 7 years, used multiple pet sitters, and have become accustomed to coming home to very vocal kitties upon my arrival. HOWEVER, since hiring Debbie and Chicago pet care, I have seen a HUGE difference and improvement in my cats when I get home! I feel good about the care and attention they receive.
As mentioned with another reviewer, my home also has digital locks that alert me when someone has entered. From this I know that Debbie and her staff show up regularly and on time for the twice daily visits. This alone is enough to make me confident that they will take good care and be responsible for my cats.
Debbie and her staff write up a brief, very personalized summary of each visit. I know if my cats are eating well or being picky, being shy or acting normal, and whether or not Chicago Pet Care has had to do some extra clean up. Form my experience, these notes have been very candid and customized, and I trust that I am getting the information i need.
Ultimately, I’m a happy customer. it’s a pleasure to come home knowing someone has been there to take good care of my cats and to see firsthand that they are healthy, happy, and the house is just as clean as I left it.

Chicago Pet Care has some good and some bad. I’ve used them for the last 3 years & would rate them average at best. First, Kayle (referenced in the reviews below) is no longer the owner; it is now Debbie. Overall, they are generally reliable and will show up relatively timely and will even react to a last minute email. They typically do a nice job of cleaning the cat box, feeding, filling water, and disposing of garbage. They leave a nice note with a daily update, but I found out that it is typically not filled out daily but only at the end of the trip (kind of ruins the intention). And, they are relatively cheap.
But, I also definitely had some issues. Because of the security system I have, I am able to track entrances and exits to my condo. 1) In the beginning, there was a case where the pet sitter no-​showed, but then left a note the next day stating they had been there. When I called them on that, they credited me for the day (duh!) and were apologetic but also tried to come up with excuses that they had been there when they simply hadn’t. 2) They overlook some of the little things — for example, I have an automatic fountain but they would never fill the reservoir. Well, these things burn out if empty, and I had to point this issue out repeatedly before they started filling it. 3) They are supposed to stay for 20 minutes to spend time with your pets, but it’s typically only 7 – 10 minutes. One of the reasons I hired them was because of this time they would spend with my lonely animals, and I was disappointed that even though I pointed this out repeatedly I never saw a change in action. 4) My biggest gripe and the reason I am no longer using them is that Debbie doesn’t react well when you point out areas for improvement. I came home to a condo that was tracked up with muddy footprints from the pet sitter, and at first she denied it even though she was really the only culprit. I had my housekeeper in as well, and now have to re-​clean the floors. Debbie was obstinate, and never acknowledged their mistake nor offered any resolution.
All in all, it’s up to you if you use them, but I’d recommend finding a different provider.

I was out of the country for 2 weeks and Chicago Pet Care did a wonderful job of caring for my 2 cats. I had never used a pet sitting service before and decided on Chicago Pet Care based on good reviews and pricing. The whole process was great. Debbie was very professional and friendly. When I came home I had details from every day the sitters saw my cats. The litter was clean, the food and water were full and the litter was swept up off the floor. Exactly what I needed. It was nice to know I didn’t need to worry about my pets while I was away, and even nicer to come home to a clean house and happy cats. I would definitely use this service again and recommend it for anyone who is traveling and doesn’t want to burden friends and family with pet care.

Kayle and Liz have taken great care of our pup from 16 to 86 pounds. We come home everyday to a happy dog and a note about his walk and antics. Kayle is always accommodating with our last minute cancellations and has even let us borrow one of her extra crates. If you need a reliable dog walker, you found it.

My 11 year old cat (my 18 pounder Big Man) is a huge NPR fan.
This fact has been confirmed on more then one occasion by various team members from Chicago Pet Care. I know this already so it was fun for me to come home and see the daily notes left describing activities of my cats (2) as well as jobs performed; litter, treats, mail & box retrieval.
Overall I have been very impressed by the care and professionalism demonstrated by the team. The owner, Kayle, is a caring animal lover that ensures my boys are treated like kings when I’m away.
Knowing Big Man & Lil Man are safe and happy is a huge burden off my mind. Animal owners know what I’m talking about. I highly recommend Chicago Pet Care.

I would love to be able to give a great review for Chicago Pet Care because I think Kayle, the person who runs the business, maintains truly excellent communication with clients and cares about doing a good job, and some of her petsitters are excellent (with a particular shout-​out to Kerry who is awesome). However, my experiences have been inconsistent over the past 2 years. I have a parrot and when I am out of town, I like to have petsitters come in the morning and evenings to clean the cage, give fresh food and water, and allow the bird some time outside of the cage. Unfortunately, «morning and evening» with some of the sitters turned out to be more like «late morning and early afternoon,» spaced a mere 2 – 4 hours apart, contrary to our agreement. On two occasions, I came home early to find that the sitter did not clean the cage or replenish the food the way they were supposed to. Kayle was very responsive to my complaints each time, but in the end we agreed that their service is unable to fulfill my particular needs. I am sure they are excellent with other types of services, such as daily dog walks, but for other pet owners who have particular needs with non-​standard pets like mine, I cannot recommend them for that.

i love my cats. and they love me. in fact, they even miss me when i’m gone! so leaving them for vacation is difficult. and i don’t think boarding them would be a good idea. so i found chicago pet care. more than just a dog walking service, they will come into your home 1 – 2 per day to feed and play with your animal. i admit, the first time i hired them, i was nervous. but the owner and her assistant are very friendly people who obviously love animals and have several of their own. they will quickly put you at ease. plus, they are flexible with dates. except for around the holidays, call ahead!
now, when i get home from vacation i know that i can expect the house to be in the same condition as i found it, my mail neatly stacked on the counter, a detailed account of each visit and what the cats were up to, and my cats, curious and happy to see me.
if you want to go on a vacation but feel stuck because there’s nowhere to keep your pet, use this service!

I started out as a weekend/​part-​time petsitter for Chicago Pet Care, and when I stopped working for them I became a client! Since I know the animal-​loving owner and trust the business, I’m a bit biased, but I truly believe this company is worth recommending to anyone who wants quality care and attention for his/​her pets.
My three cats get reliable, daily visits when we’re out of town, and the sitters make sure my epileptic kitty gets her medicine each day. We ask the sitters to bring in our mail and to water several plants, which they consistently do. I like reading the sitters’ notes when we return home, which range from the brief-​yet-​informative to the long-​and-​humorous.
I may be overworking the sitters a bit, now that I have added a third cat to the family, and I realize the sitters can have 12 or more clients to visit in a day. So, I should say that the fewer pets you have in your home, the less time the sitter will need to spend on feeding/​watering/​scooping and more time giving love, attention, and playtime to your beloved animals. I guess I’m trying to say that I wish the sitters had more time for each visit, but I can’t fault them when I have multiple pets!

We love Chicago Pet Care! They walk our furry baby every day and leave us notes about the walk… well, the notes are often about the weather, but honestly how eventful is a 30 minute walk with a dog?
Anyway, I love how flexible they are about last minute cancelations or additional walks.
