I attended a photography workshop led by Chong, the owner of Choice Photos last week. I have been a photo enthusiast for the past few years but never took the time to formally educate myself until now. I wish I had done so earlier! There are technical aspects of photography that I can learn for free on the internet any time I want, but the hands-​on experience that I received on that day was invaluable. I can honestly say that I’ve learned more in this day-​long workshop than I have in the past year shooting on my own.
When I arrived at the workshop, I was impressed by the quality of the studio and the models that we were presented with. There were about 6 – 7 other photographers and 5 models. I was initially intimidated by everything that was going on, but quickly felt comfortable working with the models and shooting. Chong created an atmosphere that was professional, yet still felt natural and welcoming to newcomers. It was loosely structured, which allowed me to work on posing and lighting with the models as well as join the rest of the group to learn specific methods and tips from Chong. The amount of freedom I had is probably something I wouldn’t be able to get at many other workshops.
I would HIGHLY recommend his workshops to photographers of all skill levels. It was affordable, fun, productive, and a great opportunity to network. I am definitely going to attend future workshops if I can. My only hope is that it doesn’t get TOO crowded since this was his first one so word is still getting out.
