I stopped here just for the happy hour deal, which was $ 5 wine, can’t really beat that, they had a good amount of wine to choose from, and some good beers to choose from too, when I went it was pretty dead, bartender was nice, didnt get to try any food though, maybe next time

Friendly staff, great service, tasty food, reasonably priced. Bowtie pasta carbonara was delicious. The hostess and my server, Spencer, were both delightful. The S’mores bread pudding is a unique and tasty take on a summertime favorite and a perfect end to a great dinner.

Came here for a drink and bite after a show at the Harris Theatre. The calamari was delicious, and their new drink — the Negroni No. 22 — was just what I wanted. Also, our server Kevin was a delight! Would definitely come back here to watch a game in the future.

The food is good but the restaurant is NOTCLEAN. I have to say it is disappointing how incredibly dirty this restaurant is. The bar, the silverware, the condiments. I just wanted to scream!!! I’ve given this place 2 chances one being today May 27, 2015& they will NOT get a third. The AM staff are clearly not morning people. They were not accommodating or friendly & spent more time socializing with one another than serving the few tables they had at 9AM. My breakfast may have been good however it took 25 mins for a veggie omelette. In addition to my appetite being ruined by the food & hair all over the booth. My water glass had food particles in it. I ordered lime for my sparkling water & received a piece of lime so dry & browning I was unable to squeeze 1 drop of juice from it, along with a mushy sliced lemon with black specs on it. The second visit I sat I the bar. It was very dusty. The bartender was very nice & I appreciated the time/great effort he took to clean the dusty glassware before he served my drink in it. This was a lunch shift the food was good & came out in a timely manner. If the front of house is that visibly dirty I hate to fathom the condition of the back of house. What a waste!

I know it was a Sunday, the bread was old and the butter was frozen. My glass of water had lipstick on it and it smelled. There were three other tables and the waiter gave very poor service. Didn’t remove plates, never asked how the food was and was not even busy! my Tuscan bean soup was cooked to death and the the pasta was only meh. I don’t think this place has a very long shelf life!

Great food and location but terrible service! I brought a friend here for lunch so that we could have the filet cobb salads, and the charred edamame. Absolutely delish food, but we sat in the bar area and the bartender Devon provided terrible service. We were seated at 1:05 and brought our waters shortly after and placed the order for the edamame. It wasn’t until 20 minutes later(after someone else brought out the appetizer) that he came back to ask if we were going to take it slow or if we wanted to order. Once we ordered our salads came out quickly, and the food is very good, but the disappointing service definitely ruined the experience. Maybe I’ll just get takeout moving forward.

The service was great, atmosphere was awesome… the food was ok. The edamame was amazing, and I also enjoyed the cheese curd, but the fliet was just ok and the creamed spinach was not good at all. I don’t think I’d go back for the food… I should have ordered the burger… everyone who ordered that said it was great AND they steak salad… I didn’t try it, but it looked great! If you go here, just don’t get the steak or creamed spinach.

Very mediocre. Started with cheese curds and they were salty. They actually poured salt on top of the curds. Ugh. Then, ihubby and I shared a ribeye steak and it was full of fat and really small. Or was a oor cut of meat. The menu said it was 16 oz, so it really shrank due to all the fat. Walter was marginal. He didn’t engage and he didn’t tell us sides didn’t come with the steak. Sure, we could knew that from the menu, but he never tried to upsell. He wasnt inspired. And drink list was also iunnspiring. We wanted dessert, so we decided to go elsewhere. Don’t trust risen to make a decent dessert. Just so-so. Won’t return. Can’t recommend.

Having lived through 3 restaurants in this space I decided to finally pop in after a concert at the Harris theater one night. Surprisingly the space opens up broadly in the back with a lounge-like space. It was a slow night peppered with dressed up party girls and businessmen on conference. There was nobody in sight for a minute for seating so we were just about to leave when nicely vested young man came out and we decided to try. The waiter was very nice and enthusiastic which brightened what seemed like a more grey-cloud atmosphere that the vibe conveyed on entry. The food portions were quite large: the meatloaf came in huge chunks layered next to mashed potatoes and vegetables. The brussel sprouts were surprisingly friend and breaded but they were still good. I was extremely full by the end! Sad to find out later that Mr. Simon recently died of a rare brain disease that I manage, I didn’t really know who he was, so these celebrity chef marketing methods don’t mean much to me.

Ordered the chorizo skillet, they brought some kind of wrap. So my wife ate while I waited. No apology from the server or the guy who brought it out. My wife’s eggs on her scramble were super watery, not appetizing at all. I had to wait ten minutes for a water refill. The hostesses ignored us on our way out. Couldn’t be bothered by us all around. Oh 31 bucks for a terrible experience/breakfast.

Service on a Sunday afternoon was pretty good. We sat at the bar area and luckily for us it was empty. The bloody Mary’s we had were decent but the appetizers were delicious.(Cheese kurds, wings, spinach dip oh my) Typical bar food but again pretty good. The company I was with made the experience well worth it. If I happen to be be staying at the Hard Rock again I will definitely stop by for a drink.

For being on this part of Michigan Ave, it isn’t a bad place for lunch. I was actually expecting prices to be higher, but they were about the norm for the area. Service was good, and the food was acceptable. The location is hard to see. I’d go back if I had to, but nothing super memorable here either.

Fancy, clean, nice place. VERY expensive. Bloodymarys were under garnished for us but not the guy who seemed like a regular. If you are going to charge some $ 11 for a tiny bloody mary, at least do it right. The bartender was not very friendly and wrote us off when he saw we were just stopping in for a drink or two and became very unattentive. It was pretty cool that they have outlets under the bar top so you can charge your phone. I more than likely would not return

If you’re anything like me, you’ll find the most random screenshots on your iPhone, like a list from April 2014 of things your significant other thinks would be cool to do… and that is what brought us here because Chuck’s: A Kerry Simon Kitchen was on that list(though he can’t remember what originally sparked his interest)! So fast forward almost 2 years, and we make the voyage downtown to Chuck’s for Restaurant Week! If there is anything one would expect from a $ 33RW prix fixe, it’s not exorbitant portion sizes, right? Bazinga! At Chuck’s, I was completely overwhelmed with how generous the size of each course was! The clam chowder, which was a non-traditional orangey peach color and had bits of ground meat in it, was literally 3 sittings worth of food for me. My braised short rib atop polenta was also a whopping 3 servings worth, and the junk food platter for dessert? O.M.G. I was buried in the assortment of brownies, blondies, cookies, caramel popcorn, cotton candy, and mini cupcake! ‘Murica! Husband opted to order off the regular menu and partook in the tomato soup(same whopping bowl size!), cheese curd appetizer, and beet salad. For someone who never«feels full», he stopped eating mid-cheese curd and told the waiter to pack up the salad to go! That. was. a. first! I do recommend the short rib entrée; the meat was tender and flavorful, and the fried corn kernel pieces added a nice crunch. The reason this is a 4-star vs. 5-star review is 2-fold: 1) the sampling of desserts tasted 1 – 2 days old(bummer!), and 2) the battered cheese curds were rather on the greasy side. I might add that upon learning of my 4-star assessment, my husband proclaimed, «I vehemently disagree!», but hey, who’s got the Unilocal account here? Overall, recommend checking out Chuck’s, located in the Hard Rock Hotel!

I, unlike the local I am, stayed at the Hyatt last night to celebrate NYE. I prefer to avoid hotel dining options, but I made an exception here. A quick search this morning gave me some info that Chuck’s was offering brunch. It must have been an outdated Metromix page since they were serving their standard menus today. Thank goodness we arrived before 11 so we could enjoy breakfast! The space is modern and swank. Evoking a new jazzy lounge feel. Servers were on point our whole meal, and they weren’t overly excited about the holiday. I had the southwestern skillet with 3 eggs, chorizo, and some peppers. I should have gotten the chorizo scrambled with the eggs but I didn’t. Not surprisingly, the sausage was intense and the grease ran onto my potatoes. Speaking of potatoes, I was disappointed to see that they were the fried, pre-seasoned frozen cubes you can find at the grocery store. While they were really crispy, it wasn’t what I expected from a chefs kitchen. I guess that’s where the Hard Rock Corporation steps in. The dish also lacked the advertised salsa, but it is what it is. Big tip here, don’t bother with the coffee. It’s bitter and overpriced. Skip it for one of the cafes in the area.

I don’t know if this is a chain or what, but I had low, low, low expectations. I picked this place because it wasn’t just a sandwich shop, and, it was walkable from my hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised with our dinner, though! Particular props to the brussels sprouts side dish. Completely non-nutritious, but utterly delicious. The two of us ordered nearly identical dishes, including the tomato soup with grilled cheese dippy things. Oddly, our sandwiches were very inconsistent — mine barely toasted, and with a hint of cheese. Hers, burnt, and with to much cheese. Neither of us ate the sandwich part. Heads up to the kitchen on that. So — 4 stars for the food, slightly less stars for the atmosphere. Maybe it was just the night we were there, but there were a lot — A LOT — of dudes in the restaurant. Like so many that it was noticeable.

3.5 Stars We stopped in here to fuel up before heading to an alley(a literal alley) for a pop up art exhibit party. Lol. Anyways my love of all things sweet we started off with the s’mores bread pudding. We shared, but the size is more comparable for one person. It was warm and gooey so no complaints there. I hadn’t eaten dinner so I ordered off of the small nibble menu the miniature brats and sausage. There was nothing miniature about this dish. I was on meat overload. Not necessarily in a good way. The dipping sauce was just okay. Service was excellent and the weather was beautiful so glad they have outdoor seating. I’ll be back if I’m in the area late night.

This was a disappointment. Don’t eat here unless you have time to kill. Came here with a group from work for lunch to welcome a new employee, fortunately he’s a summer hire because our time here was not the best. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter. Who then disappeared for quite some time in a basically empty restaurant while we looked at the menu. When he finally did appear again he then asks for our orders but then says just FYI, we’re out of chicken. This really rubbed us the wrong way as he should have told us that when we sat down or when he first was aware of it. The lack of chicken did cause a few of us to choose something else but we ordered right then and there since we didn’t want him going MIA again. We ordered apps that were actually good– the calamari and flatbread. And then we waited and waited and waited. No one checked on us. We sat there with the app dishes and empty waters. Finally our food showed up. I got the steak and shrimp tacos which were actually good. Some other folks food didn’t look that great. The restaurant was never crowded while we were there so the mystery of the slow food has yet to be solved. We left disappointed. Probably won’t come back.

Delicious. Worth a taste. Décor is very eclectic. Mix of the 60’s with a modest twist. Dim lighting to at the mood. It was very quiet when I was there only 2 other tables in the whole place, but that didn’t bother us! The waiter was great. The white sangria was very good. We ordered the artichoke dip, that is an absolute must try! Wow was that good!!! The brussel sprouts are perfect and the crab cake was to die for. We also had the Mac & Cheese, that was only ok. Could have used a little seasoning. Would return here next time I’m in the city. Really enjoyed my experience.

The comment from one of my friends pretty much sums up my second and most likely last visit to Chuck’s. That comment was, «I don’t feel the need to ever go there again.» Service — While our waitress was funny(when she was actually at our table), the gaps in time between her visits to our table seemed to be about the same time as the movie The Ten Commandments. Seeing how the place was about 35% packed I’m not sure why it took her ages to come back to our table with(1) our drinks,(2) to take our food order,(3) to bring our food out,(4) to see if we needed anything,(5) to bring us the bill. Food — So the spicy sausage flatbread sounds good on the menu, but it sure doesn’t taste good. The Pork Belly Burger was good because of all of the cheese sauce on it, but the pork lacked in flavor. Sorry Chuck, but you won’t be seeing me again.
