I went into the bank today with 10 minutes left in banking hours and Latonya and Krystal took care of me like it was the beginning of the day. I had a question regarding an issue with an overdraw on my checking account. Resolved. I also had an issue with fees on one of my savings accounts. Resolved. When it looked like it would take longer than 5 minutes I suggested coming back tomorrow but Krystal said, «no“and that she wanted me to «understand what was going on». She suggested that I speak with Latonya who was able to further assist me. I have enough going on in my life as it is I really appreciate what them taking their time to make something easy. I usually only use the ATM at this location and but its good to know you can go into the branch and get excellent service.

When I first moved to downtown, I lucked out and my bank is only 2 streets away from my house. It is located right on the Mag Mile which is perfect for residents and tourist when the wallet gets empty… The branch is smaller than most Citibank, but the desk usually has 2 – 3 tellers and the wait time is not long. The managers and staff are very friendly compared to other places along the Mag Mile. There is 24 hr access to the ATM machines and the location is very safe given the traffic around this area.
Pros: excellent staff, quick service, 24 hr atm, very safe area
Cons: low interest rates on savings and MM, what can you do though in this economy
Hidden deals: make sure you sign up for thank you points which can get you free giftcards and more. you never have to worry about fees if you have direct deposit with your account.

I do my business banking here, with Dave Blocher as my banker. He’s a pro, great to work with. The branch is pretty inconvenient to work with if you have to actually visit it since there isn’t any parking, but the staff is very good.
The phone number listed above is incorrect, that’s the line for TTY, text device for the hearing impaired.
Dave’s number there is 312−494−2430. If you have business banking to do, you’ll want to call your banker directly anyway.
Also, I don’t think the are calling themselves Citibank FSB any longer, just Citibank, after some brand realignments and rebranding completed last year, in February 2007. Not totally certain about that though.

Although I don’t bank here myself, I often bring International clients here when they are opening a US bank account for the first time. They have a lot of experience working with expatriates and my personal banker, Matt, always makes the experience as painless as possible.

Their website is well designed with good user experience. It’s easy to access when you’re out of the US. But I suggest putting your money elsewhere.
