The coffee is decent, the location is great because it’s so close to all my classrooms, but that’s about as far as it goes for me. They cut their hours in the afternoon which is a pain if you have later classes. I don’t typically come here for the food unless I can’t make time to run across campus, but it’s not bad. The real problem that I have with this place is that the service is AWFUL. The employees are always on their phones and act offended when they have to put their friends on hold to take your order. They randomly leave and go to the back room while they have a line of people waiting. They claim that the espresso machine is broken at least once a week but I really think they just say that when they don’t feel like doing their job. To make matters worse, this morning there was an employee who dragged a wet leaking garbage bag all the way through the hall and into the café and left it in the middle of the floor while she got a big enough garbage can to toss it in. DISGUSTING. Don’t go here unless you have no other choice.

This place is pretty tame in terms of campus dining. I feel the coffee is priced higher than at other places. They also have these gluten free muffins, you might as well eat sawdust. Unless it’s an emergency, I would go to Cobb Café or, if you have time to burn, make the trip to the booth business school Café. It is the best dining facility on campus by far.

I wasn’t wild about Classics. I’m not a coffee aficinado by any measure, but nothing about Peet’s Coffee is especially outstanding, in my opinion. I ordered a cappuccino once and received a latte, which was fine, but definitely not worth the $ 3 or so that I paid. The tables are a little cramped, and it has a tendency to get kind of warm. Not that the U of C is known for its mind-blowing cafes, but I would still choose Div School for its coffee and ambiance over Classics any day.

Nice atmosphere for reading, good place to grab a cup of(Peet’s) coffee between classes. But it’s best to go in the morning before 10, when it’s still quiet and relaxed. After that, the seats fill up quickly.

Classics Café is MY coffee shop on campus. Probably because it’s the closest one to my office(it doesn’t hurt) but also because it was the first one I discovered when I first arrived here a zillion year ago. I usually get either regular coffee or tea but they offer a whole range of hot drinks — for a much more reasonable price than the chain coffee shop across the street and with a better service. The ladies who work here are really sweet… to me that’s a HUGE plus. Food selection is pretty limited though. What I love about this place is the setting: wood-paneled rooms, lots of windows, a fireplace and a couple of nice-you-will-never-get-out armchairs… lots of books(and students hidden behind them) of course but with a name like that I had to be expected. right?
