Sam is so friendly and awesome! I love coming here to get tea, he’s got a wonderful selection of both tea and coffee, I can’t wait to go there again when I get paid so I can and explore coffee more

This is my neighborhood spot and it’s awesome. I never have to decide what I want because the owner always knows the best for my bold palette. My friend that moved to another neighborhood loves me to scoop extra beans for her. Love!

Sam gives great recommendations. I buy coffee as a gift and the coffee has never disappointed. I also love the specialty flavored here, really fun and tasty. The coffee is in giant barrels in the middle of the store so you can really see the beans up close and savor the aroma.

This place is a gem! Sam is delighful– I really enjoyed talking to him on my visits to the shop. I don’t live in Chicago anymore and this shop is one of the places I miss. Just ordered online so I can have another taste.

This coffee store is absolutely amazing, Sam the owner is such a helpful and super nice guy, the roasting of the beans is hands down incomparable, so fresh, with unsurpassable aroma, the owner I believe is very knowledgable about his products and would give u the exact roast and taste you’re looking for, not to mention the coffee and China ware which is eyecatching, I would go there for coffee, tea, and a cup on the go, the best !!

If you are a coffee lover like I am I would recommend this place. The smell and ambiance of this store is great. Go and visit this store. You won’t regret it!

I stumbled across this place after recently moving to the neighborhood. This place is wonderful. Truly a gem. The blend and bean suggestions Sam made were perfect and his kindness and charm makes this place even more enjoyable. I went home with ½ lb of the Chocolate Raspberry blend and a ½ lb of the Crème Brule blend and was incredibly happy with both. Will never buy coffee from anywhere else again.

What a gem! We stopped to get teas to go and the owner let us customize our drinks. I mixed a green tea with ginger tea and my friend created a ginger lemon tea. $ 2 per cup was a great deal! They also have a whole assortment of loose leaf teas to purchase and coffee beans. Worth checking out!

Excellent tea! Having a pot of Asam /Darjeeling blend as I type this. Very nice guy who owns the place. Plus they have Ritter Sport marzipan chocolate. Which is always a favourite treat. Yet to try the coffee, but will try some next time we are in the area.

Had past by the store on my way to whole foods for yrs. Had been recommended by many to stop in but more of a tea drinker than coffee. Sam is very knowledgeable about his products and quality is excellent.

I was at the Pride Fest Saturday and saw this place and being a lover of loose tea, decided to stop in. Great selection of tea and coffee and the gentleman working that day(I think he was the owner) was very knowledgeable on tea and someone else came in with questions on whole bean coffee and he was really knowledgeable on those as well. I liked that they had a variety of loose black teas in smaller sealed packs reasonable priced. I bought a couple flavors and made iced tea last night when I came home with the blackberry black tea and it was amazing. I wish I would have bought a couple more bags. I have bought tea at the coffee and tea exchange before in Chicago and I bought a couple different types of herbal tea and they all tasted the same, had a strong cinnamon taste. Their teas taste like actual tea with just the right amount of flavoring. At Coffee and Tea exchange, where I still like to buy Torani syrups, knows nothing about teas. I have a Breville tea brewer and there is a big difference in the brewing time and temps for the tea type and the one clerk there wasn’t even away of what type of tea the one flavor I was interested in buying was and didn’t know there was a difference in how you brew tea types, she thought you brewed all teas at boiling water for 5 minutes or so. The owner of Coffee tree was aware of the different types of tea and the brewing instructions. Next time I am in Chicago I will definitely be stopping here for more black tea. The only complaint I have is that there wasn’t a tea bar where they could brew tea for you.

I walked in and was instantly helped. The owner was very welcoming and made great recommendations after asking me a few questions about what I like. He really knows his coffee and tea. I just made my first pot of coffee and the flavor is better than Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts/etc. I’m so glad I live right around the corner from this place as I will definitely be going back and will be telling people what a great place this is.

This place has a great set up; lots of coffee in barrels, tea, accessories. However, I was a bit disappointed when I asked if I could buy a couple different kinds in ¼ lbs and he said he couldn’t do that. I asked where the beans were roasted and he said it’s a secret. I thought he was joking, but he wasn’t. I can understand that, just thought it was a bit strange. I decided to go to another place to get more variety in quarter pound. Overall though the owner(?) was nice, just a bit pushy and not incredibly accomodating. Good if you’re buying large amounts though.

i needed to switch to decaf per my doctor’s request and the owner helped me find the perfect decaf blend for me. It’s his special«secret» recipe with light, medium, and dark roast mixed into one. He asked what kind of brewing system i had so he can grind the beans to the right texture and went as far as asking me what strength of coffee i prefer. he was so attentive and nice! i recommend going here for coffee and the service for sure! they also had some fun blends like almond joy! whoa~!

Ask questions! Sam will enthusiastically help you find what you’re looking for. He’s a lovely gentleman and incredibly friendly. He has a fun smattering of worldly coffees, teas, spices and treats as well as a great selection of high end coffee and tea brewing equipment options. Plus he’s a good and patient teacher and listener. Thanks Sam!

I love love love this spot. The coffee is fantastic, the owner is a joy, and the other customers are so friendly! Every time I pop in, I get that real«neighborhood» feeling. I’m pretty sure I invited myself to another customer’s house for dinner at least once, and he didn’t seem to mind! Definitely give the crème brûlée coffee a try, it’s divine!
