I love this area of town, and yet I feel like I never have an excuse to go there. Some of my friends hosted a fun karaokee event, and I got to check it out. It’s a nice location, really quite perfect for this kind of event. They get the extra star for hosting a bad-to-the-bone(b-b-b-b-bad) karaōke event there.

The Cornelia Arts Center… is a visual art venue that houses mutliple disciplines and hosts regular open house events. This space is an edgy warehouse converted into private artist lofts. I attended an open house last night and was surprised that I never heard about this place before. Just off Lincoln Ave, I was able to view many types of art… from Jewerly makers to paintings and even a sculpturer that was making a huge steel structure right in front of my eyes. Some of the artist I found interesting were: James Parenti(painter) and Bahar Partow(photographer) just to name a few… I’ve always been fascinated by the gritty side of arts… painters and sculptures… their worlds wet, dirty, and dusty from toils on an existing body of work. As a fine art photographer, we never get that sexy aspect from our art, but Cornelia Art Center provides that to visitors. Artists are engaging and of course provide the complimentary wine & cheese, though one painters loft I visited while walking around was talking to some folks looking at her work and said she had really expected a lower brow crowd that night so she purchased cheap beer and apologized she didn’t have more wine… lets just say I felt like turning to her and telling her to kiss my girts(hey…I’m from the south…), but I refrained and realized that she HAD to be talking about some other folks and not me *grin*. These types of spaces are what I call the«pulse» of art in cities because they house such a high concentration of artists of so many different types of art, it is really a great way too see and do a lot in a little space. So you should check this out next time you want to get your Art on.
