I only give them the extra star because the front line people are nice. I work in the building that the corner bakety resides in. If you have 30 minutes to kill and wait for a half made sandwich with half the ingredients missing, looks like it was slapped together by a 2 year old, then this is your place to be. For the rest of us who are on the go and want food in 10 minutes or less to get back to your office meeting on time this is not the place for you. One time i ordered a bagel and it took 20 minutes, i here people complain all the time how they forget the cream cheese, put regular eggs instead of egg whites, i ask for kale salad they give me ceasar and the list goes on. I would only go here if you desperately want a coffee and its too cold to hit up starbucks across the street. As for food, jasons deli, jimmy johns and hannas bretzel are close by and you get the food in 1⁄3 the time.

Not a bad place if you’re in the area, but it is not worth going out of your way. The food is pretty tasty, but the service is very slow, so definitely not recommended if you need something quick or have just a 30 minute lunch or less. Food: I had the club panini on sourdough — I was pretty pleased with the food quality. The bacon and cheese were cooked at the right crispiness and meltiness respectively, complementing the turkey as well as you can expect. The bakery chips were a bit plain — it would be even better to have more flavors. Service: Painstakingly slow — I have an hour for lunch so it was fine, but had I wanted to work through that lunch I would’ve been disappointed. Staff seemed cheerful and friendly though. Environment: Lots of chairs and tables, with outdoor seating as an option. I didn’t have trouble finding a place to sit even during the lunch hour.

I’m trying to come up with some redeeming quality to give this place a 2nd star, but my experience was terrible. They forgot my iced latte. Once I asked for my iced latte again, having already waited 10 minutes, I waited another 5 – 10 minutes, and was handed a normal hot latte that was filled with burnt milk as the steam wand was left to heat the milk on its own. The food was lackluster and very greasy. Go across the street to Starbucks.

Consistently bad. Really bad! I end up at this corner bakery every few weeks or so because it’s close to my job. There’s always numerous people working, but somehow it’s difficult to get service, which is what happened today. I stood & waited probably 3 or 4 minutes for the cashier to finish her conversation before I could order a coffee. Empty tables are left messy, with trash and dishes on them, long after the customer has left(2 booths were left in this state for about 20 minutes today) The self serve coffee tanks are left empty as are the milk carafes, which once again occurred this morning. Employees are lounging at empty booths, slumped over, eating & talking on the phone as if the restaurant was their living room. Today, I had the distinct pleasure of listening to a lounging employee crack her gum so loud I had to go look to make sure she wasn’t clipping her nails! The bathrooms are always a mess, often having no soap &/or no paper towel(today there was soap but no towels). One time I was served the wrong sandwich & when I went to the counter to get the sandwich I ordered, the cashier argued with me and then complained to her Co workers about me while I was standing right there. Unproessional, lazy, messy, BAD! Stay away!

Only come here if you want to get over priced mediocre food and rude service. I came in 50 minutes before they closed and was told they were going to give me my order to go but I can stay and eat if I want. Doesn’t usually take me 45 minutes to eat a meal but ok. When she brought me my food it was in a to go bag and she swung it about 5 inches from my face and was like heres your order. I watched them turn away 4 customers(2 people together and then two other people separately) while they were still open for 35+ minutes. A different lady waited at the counter and when no one helped her she turned to walk out and was then met with a «you change your mind?“from the girl who was suppose to be working the register. I sat and ate my meal and got to listen to the employees having conversations across the restaurant loudly. The time before this I waited 20 minutes for my pasta to come out when they weren’t even busy. This particular location must just not like to generate revenue for the company. It looked like the manager was there even participating in this anti-customer behavior. Sign on the door says they close at 6. If you’re going to act like you’re closed at 5:10, go ahead and close at 5:10.

I’m giving this place two stars based on several experiences I have had. It’s conveniently located near my office and what should be a quick lunch turns into waiting 10 – 15 minutes for a take out. Aside from the questionable staff, the straw that broke the camel’s back was this past Friday. Over a 15 minute wait for a panini and salad combo. When I was finally handed my order I double checked to see if they included salad dressing; to which there was none. I told one of the many people standing around that I didn’t have any salad dressing but needed some. She grabbed the container out of my bag, turned it every which way to make sure I wasn’t lying. Really?! It’s salad dressing, not money. She promptly got the dressing and then with her BARE hands proceeds to put the dressing in my container. I stopped her and said I could handle it. I get back up to my office to discover there was no silverware or napkins in the bag. I will not be going back to this CB location.

SOSLOW. Expect to wait a minimum of 15 minutes during lunch time. If you don’t have time to spare, don’t bother.

The European oatmeal is extremely good. As are the apple hand pie and chocolate baby bundt cake. The customer service isn’t the greatest, but the food is worth the trip.

Good service and selection. My cappuccino was made quickly and properly(more often than not, Starbucks folks turn it into a macchiato or latte), and the pastries are yummy; I got a plain croissant which was soft, flaky, and fresh.

It truly pains me to have to diss another of my favorite chains that has increasingly gone down hill. This was my «go to» place for many years, with quality food, service and an upbeat interior, but the past year or so, there has been a sharp decrease and it’s sad. First of all, it’s not just this location that disappoints me, for I have been to many Corner Bakery Cafes in the past few months, and the problem is at all of them. The food portions must have gone on a dramatic diet! The sandwiches in particular are microscopic. When I visited the store on E. Erie, I ordered a Chicken Pomodori and I needed a microscope to find the chicken! Plus is was made on not a panini, but soggy rye bread, which I hated. The sodas are flat, but at least the soups are still good, especially the potato one which is delicious! Even the servers have changed. The guy at this address acted liked customers are a burden to his soul, and at the Skokie one, there is a lady there who is perfecting her«sassy bitch» persona on a regular basis. Oh, Corner Bakery, how I loved you so — but I’m afraid we must part. Besides, the $ 11 I just spent on lunch today, and I am still hungry, is getting to be a bit old. Please get back to your former glory — pronto!

Yum yum yum! That’s all I can think to describe corner bakery. Soup, salad, sandwich, desserts… everything is delicious! If there is one down fall is the speed of getting your food. They are super quick in getting your order in with a long line but the wait to get your food can sometimes be a little long. But the wait in my opinion is more than worth it!

I work near this Corner Bakery location, but I avoid it except in rain/snowstorms and occasional lapses of judgment. The food is usually fine if you’re ok with ultra-high salt content, but the service is painfully slow. You can get food faster at Cosi, and that is shocking. Even simple things like cold sides or soups take forever. Last time I went, my potato soup came out cold. If you’ve ever eaten cold potato soup, it’s unappealing. I’d rather go over to the Thompson center for Taco Bell.

This location can be so annoying. In the morning, the staff seems to prepare one order at a time and it takes a long time to get your take-out breakfast. There are literally a dozen people working and yet the food doesn’t fly out of the kitchen. The food quality is fine, though probably a little expensive for what you get. It’s great that they post their calorie counts. If there were more options close by, I’d be here less often.

I used to frequent this place when I worked @ circa 2007. They used to debut lots of seasonal soups that me and a colleague used to enjoy quite a bit. Due to the fact that there are 2 other Corner Bakeries near my current place of employment; I do not get a chance to go to this one as much. My lady works at the mart and this one is closer to her. She loves their salads especially the Spinach Crisp which has fruit, spinach & crusts of raisin bread inside. It was pretty good! Gets pretty crowded around noon as most places in the loop does, so it is best to get there around 11:30 to get a seat or to get in and get out. Outside seating available when it is warm out

Yes another Corner Bakery: they are A-OK as they have decent food, but lately I’m getting sick of this type of heavy/dense carb and fat saturated stuff, I guess its my fault for always ordering the pastries; coffee is good though and they have some pretty solid skillet-type mixes for breakfast. There are a lot of these stores downtown, sort of dilutes their special nature.

Ich war hier während eines Arbeitsaufenthaltes, seit dem ersten Mal sind Bananenmuffins und Chai Tea mit Soyamilch dort Pflicht. Ein unschlagbare Kombination!

I used to love going to this Corner Bakery(1−2x/week) because I work across the street but recently I’ve been disappointed in the quality of the food I’ve been served. I just tried to eat a Greek salad and it was soggy and old. They also don’t include the breadstick with soup anymore, it’s getting cheaper and makes me want to go somewhere else to eat.

stayed nearby for business. Stopped here a few times for breakfast and lunch. Everything was excellent. It was actually surprisingly good — i was expecting starbucks quality food… pasteries were delicious, especially those little fat pills«Cinnamon Pecan Rugalach» Mmmmm. Paninis were good. Awful lot of suits meeting here for a quick lunch.

pros: — located near a million transportation options, so its great for meeting someone for coffee if you’re coming from different parts of town — unlimited free wifi(which you don’t technically need to purchase anything to use) — of the few menu items I’ve tried, some have been pretty good, including tortilla soup and the harvest salad(I added chicken) cons: — only 2 outlets in the whole establishment, which are both under the same table — coffee is meh, but at least its expensive — menu is pretty limited(standard for corner bakery, but way fewer options than, say, cosi) and more than half the options contain pork(which is a problem for me, but a plus for many, I’m sure) — the yogurt and fresh berry parfait only had strawberries(so say strawberry, not berry), which weren’t so fresh, and the granola was soggy
