This small charming hair salon is conveniently located a short walk from the red line. Douglas Cutforth and staff were friendly and attentive, offering a variety of beverages (including wine) while I waited. Jesus took my reference photos for a desired style and worked with the natural characteristics of my hair to give me a fresh new look and feel that I absolutely love! Definitely worth every penny (plus your first appointment is discounted!) Definitely try them out!

Douglas and the staff at Cutforth Hair Studio are fantastic! I am always beyond pleased with my hair after a visit to the salon. Douglas & Jesus are very patient and open minded about what their client’s hair visions are and always delivery exactly what is wanted! Plus they are super friendly and chatty, which makes every visit even more enjoyable.
Can’t say enough good things about this hair salon! Prices are extremely reasonable and the beverage service is a nice touch.

I had Jennifer Mendoza do my hair for my wedding in August 2014 along with my family and bridesmaids. She came the morning of the wedding and was cheerful, blended in great with everyone, and streamlined the entire process. Not only was Jennifer fun to be around, she also possesses such great talent. My hair was perfect the entire night. I highly recommend Jennifer Mendoza for any of your beauty needs and wedding needs!

I went to Hair Box Salon after seeing the great reviews on Unilocal.And here I am, writing a review for this cute little hidden gem in Lakeview. I needed a cut and Douglas did just as I asked, my hair looked fabulous. Plus he is super friendly and prices are reasonable. I will be back for sure!

Douglas has been doing my hair for years. I will never let anyone else touch my hair. He has never disappointed and I love how many compliments I get on my hair all the time. I highly recommend Douglas for cut and color! His ombré is the best! Not to mention how reasonable his prices are.

I just got home from my appointment with Douglas and I couldn’t be happier with my experience and my cut! Diana, who greeted me and shampoo’d my hair and Douglas my stylist were both very friendly and down to earth. I came with a vague idea of what I was looking for and Douglas did an excellent job figuring it out — and it came out great. He also offered some ideas and trends that might work for me in the future.
I have had good experiences at the other area salons as well, but this one felt like the right one for me. I loved the cozy feel of the place and laid back but trendy atmosphere!

I have been going to Douglas for about 2 years as a referral after my hair stylist of 8 years relocated out of state– I do not like change! Douglas does an AMAZING job not only with my color but also cut. The prices are VERY reasonable and the coziness of the salon is so welcoming. I would highly recommend The Hair Box!

This salon is really as good as it gets. Jorge and Douglas have created an atmosphere where it is a joy to sit and get your hair done! Douglas has been doing my hair for years and I recommend him to anyone. I have obnoxious, frizzy, straw-​like hair and he works magic with both the color and the cut. If you are looking for a new stylist, you’ve got to come to The Hair Box!!! I can’t say enough good things about it.
