Hell yes to this place. Wine flights, beautiful décor, I mean I basically look for excuses to go here. The ambiance is incredible. It’s a dimly lit, luxurious space and the wine is fantastic. Servers are very knowledgeable and you can buy a bottle without breaking the bank. Next time you’re having a bad/good/fun/not fun day, do yourself a favor, and go to DOC.

It gets super crowded on the weekends so you must get here early to get a seat. The atmosphere is cozy and loud. It reminds me of being on a ship with the big wooden beams on the ceiling. There are many wine flight options and food options but our group of eight stood at the end of the bar since there were so many of us. I’ve stopped in on separate occasions as well with better luck and have had a seat at the bar. Service at the bar was always solid.

Now this is what I call a wine bar! It’s located right on Clark, but inside the décor transports you to a winter cabin– fireplace and all. Although they have food items, my first time here I just tried their wine. They have a good selections of various wines and serve generous pours for the price you pay. Looking forward to going back to try more of their menu.

$ 10 wine flights on Sundays. The crispy avocado fries, as well as service, are amazing!

My wife and I went here on a Friday night. Great service and a wonderful selection if wines. In fact, we had trouble choosing and they had several wine flights to choose from(the first time I have seen a flight of wine). We got an assortment of Reds and loved them all. We also had a great cheese and meat plate– where you get to choose the assortment. Both th cheeses and te meats were great. Had a great experience. Excited to come back.

Good selection of wines and the food here is solid. Came here on a Wednesday and we were able to snag the couches in the back right by the fireplace for our party of 6. Note: it’s pretty dark back there compared to the rest of the bar. I split a bottle of the malbec/cabernet with a friend of mine, which was real good(it was a good mix between the two, since I’m a malbec fan and she likes cabs). For food, we got: –Brussels sprout and bacon pizza: I wasn’t expecting much from this dish, but I really enjoyed it. Brussels sprouts and bacon are always good, but I think the candied red onion added a great sweetness that tied the dish together very well. –Small butchers platter: we got the brie/apples/EVOO/cracked pepper and the roasted beet/strawberry/ricotta/balsamic reduction bruschettas, the burrata, and the sopressata. The bruschettas were on point, but we definitely would pass on the burrata and the sopressata if we had to choose again. Service was ehhh. Our server was hard to track down the entire night, and when we did get a hold of him, it took him awhile to get back to us(ie getting the check, clearing our plates). Also, when he uncorked our bottle of wine he didn’t let us taste it and instead just filled both our glasses. He also butchered the correct pronunciation of bruschetta. I was taken aback by these 2 instances, since I would expect someone who works at a wine bar to NOT do what he did. On the bright side, though, 2 of our friends ordered a pretty bad tasting pitcher of sangria(it tasted more like seltzer w/a splash of wine). When we notified our server of this, he apologized and took it back, no questions asked, so kudos for that. Even though they have a decent selection of wines and good food, I still don’t know whether or not I would return. If you decide to check out D.O.C, hopefully you have better luck w/the service.

I really like this wine bar. It’s a cozy place for a date or a nice place to catch up with the girls. The wine list is great with full bottles, half bottles, flights and by the glass. On my two most recent visits by boyfriend and I each ordered a flight and then wine by the glass. He’s not the biggest fan of wine, but even he can find something he likes here. Service can be a little slow. I’ve noticed a lot of people have private events in the back, which looks like a nice space. There’s only one ladies room and often there is a line. Otherwise, I love coming here for some wine after dinner.

So, right. This place had real potential but didn’t quite live up to it. My friends and I made reservations for 7 but they were next door at Dunlay’s on the restaurant side by accident, and the staff were kind enough to let us move over to the couches and small tables in the back of the wine bar. Our first waitress brought over the menu and said we’d still be able to order from both menus if we wanted. Our second server took a long time to come see us, so when he finally did we had our orders ready, only he made a weird fuss about us ordering from the restaurant menu. Anyway, we ordered a few bottles of wine and a pitcher of sangria. The sangria was pretty much undrinkable. It tasted like mostly seltzer water, with only barely a hint of wine(that tasted pretty bad itself). Props to the place for handling it well and taking it back when we said it wasn’t that great. Anyway, we placed our food orders, and about 15 min later our server came back to tell us about everything they were out of, so we ordered again. The good thing is, the food that we actually had was outstanding. We ordered two butchers blocks – large size – which includes a mix and match of bruschetta, cheese, and charcuterie, all your choice. The standout for me was the salted melon bruschetta, with the pork leg charcuterie a close second. My friends really enjoyed their bacon and Brussels sprouts pizza as well. Then it just took a long time for checks and everything. I may come back with a smaller group; it seems like the service would be better. The space is really cool and intimate though, and in a great location.

This is definitely one of my favorite spots in the city for a relaxing evening. Not necessarily the place to turn up, but still great for girls’ nights or for a romantic date night. Sunday they have $ 10 wine flights. Dimly light and lots of comfy seating. Never tried the food but the plates I’ve seen served look yummy! Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely amazing. I want to have a sophisticated wine pallet and decided to start visiting some whine bars. I decided to come to this place because it was the first thing that popped up in my Unilocal app. I am really impressed with the service of this place. Our favorite sever is Justin! He is very friendly, knows his wine lists, knows what to recommend and is professional. He remembers what type of wine i like and always pairs it up with the perfect cheese. we always order the cheese plate with 8 different selections and it never seems to fail. I usually bitch and complain about something but this place and their service deserve every single star. The ambience of this place is cool, relaxed, sexy and a perfect place for a first date or just to come hang out with a few friends. I have read a few of the reviews and see that some ppl have complained about the prices but honestly for what you are getting, its pretty good. Try this place

My sister’s baby shower was held here, and from the looks of it we weren’t the only ones with that idea. Another party was going on up front in a separate area as well. We were a group of about 20 – 30 adults plus some small kids under 4. Really nice place. What stood out to me most, aside from the cozy atmosphere(it feels like you’re at a wealthy family friend’s classy«up north» ski cabin) was the attentive service. There was one host for our group who ensured that everyone had a drink in hand and that empties were bused promptly. Their catering for our group included bacon-wrapped dates, pizzas, bbq pork sliders, mini grilled cheese, crudités with hummus, asparagus and a few other items. Everything was very fresh and delicious, simple but elegant. The fire places weren’t lit when we were there, but I bet that would be a really nice touch, especially in winter. They have validated discount parking($ 6, I believe) at the Children’s Hospital parking garage just south by a block or so on Clark. There’s also street parking, both free and metered. I can’t speak to the pricing, since I never had to look at a menu.

This place was amazing! We did a girl’s night for the $ 10 wine flights(they do this every Sunday). Our sever was fantastic, very attentive, very helpful, and very personable. She answered our questions very well and took the time to chat for a few minutes(without overstaying her welcome). The wine was all good, and her recommendations were spot on for everyone in our group. The food was great, too. We got a few appetizers from the wine bar menu(you can also order from the restaurant next door, we just chose not to) and they were good-I highly recommend the Belgian fries. $ 10 for a wine flight is a great deal, as they’re usually priced around $ 16-$ 20 depending on which flight you get. They’re also named after Chicago neighborhoods, which was fun. I will second what some other reviewers said about feeling slightly«ignored» at the start. I walked in and there was only one other group sitting at a table, otherwise the place was empty. No one was there to greet me, so I waited for a minute and then claimed a table. I sat for a few more minutes, then the server came in(I think she had been next door at the restaurant). Once she saw me, she came right over with menus, water, etc., and I told her we’d have a group so she pulled another table over right away and brought more menus. From there on, she was great. My one complaint is that it was very dark/dim inside. It wasn’t so bad when it was still light out, but once the sun set it was very dim. I don’t mind that to set an atmosphere, but it was so dim that if one of my friends had walked in the door, I don’t think I would’ve seen who it was to recognize them. Definitely recommend and will be going back!

It’s a really chill lounge with comfortable chairs, and I think great wine selection. However, my friends and I did not get to enjoy it at all. We walked in around 8pm on a Saturday. There were a few empty seats but none that were large enough that can seat my friends and me. We were going to ask the waiter if we could move around or if we could wait. But the manager and waitress both flat out ignored us. In fact, they ended up looking at us and whispering to each other like they were talking about us waiting for us to leave. Don’t know if it’s a race thing as our group was all Asians. Now, I’m from the East Coast, where inattentive service people is fairly common, but seriously DOC, you’re not that classy of a place to pull that off.

I’m a fan of Dunlay’s on the Square. Ages ago, I celebrated my graduate school graduation at Dunlay’s in Lincoln Park. Last weekend, I attended a wonderful baby shower here. The baby shower took place in a small room with a fireplace, banquette, and tables. It was cozy, warm, and inviting for a shower. Throughout the shower, we had a dedicated server who managed drinks and food for everyone. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries while others had the Lincoln Park omelette or pancakes topped with fruit. As with other Dunlay’s, the food is tasty. The shoestring fries were awesome. We also got an order of monkey bread too which was essentially cinnamon roll bites. No complaints here because cinnamon bread has been one of my biggest cravings during this pregnancy. I popped at least three of them over the course of the brunch shower. We finished the brunch with a warm skillet cookie. It was warm, chocolately, and delicious. I wanted to devour the whole thing, but held back and got Molly’s cuppies a few doors down after the shower. DOC Wine bar is really nice location. The food was great while the ambiance is also pleasant. The lush red velvet room and fireplace was the perfect size for the group feting an upcoming arrival and new mommy to be. The planner in me made note of the venue for any future hosting opportunities because it was such a great experience.

I’ve heard so many good things about D.O.C. that I really expected better from this place. Myself and a few girl friends came here to catch up over the holidays. We split a bottle and the wine was nice and not super wallet-busting but not cheap either. However, our server opened it and then poured it before telling us it was not chilled at ALL. Yes, it was a white wine. So in the spirit of not wasting, I didn’t send it back… but c’mon. It’s a wine bar after all. Second our server was not very attentive. We would have probably ordered another bottle(hopefully chilled this time) but we had to wait so long we just gave up and waited for the bill, and then waited again to get the card back. Mind you it was a Saturday night, but there were about 4 other tables there besides us so I don’t see an excuse. Third. And I’m torn on this one. There were… interesting…labels that looked straight off the 90s style label maker, on our ice bucket. See photos! I was definitely amused by them: «You stink on ice» and«Jesus Christ». However, I can see these as being rather unprofessional for such a nice place. It seemed like a joke one staff member played on another and somehow the bucket got put back into rotation. Classy, guys. I loved the décor and it definitely was cozy on a dark winter night, but you’re going to have a tough time convincing me to go back.

Came here for a wine flight and dessert on NYE after dinner at Del Seoul down the street. I had been here once before for a girl’s night out, and remembered how much I enjoyed it as we walked by. We had an hour to kill before the concert we had tickets for, so I convinced the fiancé this would be a nice place to hang out. I had a red wine flight. Most of the flights are between $ 15 — $ 19, which I think is a good value considering the generous pours. I tried looking on the website to find the flight I tried, but their website is out of date and none of the flights I saw in the wine bar are on the menu that’s posted, FYI. They are now all mixed wine flights(no more try these three pinot noirs or sauvignon blancs), and are all named after neighborhoods in Chicago. I wish I could remember which one I had, though, because I do not recommend it. The first wine was okay, but the final two were very earthy and funky. My fiancé is not a huge wine drinker, and we were a bit disappointed that there were no draft beers available. I know this is a wine bar, but why not offer one or two taps of craft beer to cater to a wider audience. He settled on a mixed drink(they do have a wide variety of cocktails, just no beer). We shared a cookie skillet for dessert, which is highly recommended! Who doesn’t love a warm chocolate chip cookie topped with ice cream? It was *extremely* cold inside while we were there(as in, everyone was wearing their down coats!), but the staff was very apologetic and worked actively to get the temperature up. It didn’t sound like it was normally this cold, though, so I doubt it will happen in the future.

Two friends and I came here on Sunday night for their $ 10 wine flights. The server had helpful answers to our wine-related questions, and service was generally friendly and prompt. We all enjoyed our wine flights, which had good-sized pours. A food menu is available, though we didn’t order anything off it. The space was less than half full, and the noise level was such that we could carry on a conversation at normal speaking volumes. The interior was dimly lit, more so in some areas than others. Overall I enjoyed my time here and will be back.

Bae and I decided to check out D.O.C Wine Bar since our original location had a long wait time and we wanted to go somewhere cozy and«romantic». D.O.C has an interesting atmosphere to say the least. Overall, customer service could be better. When we got there there weren’t any free tables or couches available to sit, yet we couldn’t find anyone who worked there to help us out. After a few minutes of standing there, a group leaves a table near the fireplace and we’re able to sit down. It took about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us to bring us a drink menu. There’s a huge, possibly overwhelming, selection of wines. The last two pages contained a whiskey menu and a cocktail menu. We originally wanted to go out for cocktails, which was our bad going to a wine bar, but hey, we wanted a fireplace and a cuddly atmosphere so we figure a wine bar would be nice right? We both got cocktails and they weren’t very good. They weren’t bad, but for the prices($ 12 each), you kinda expect a decently made drank. But we let that slide since they’re a WINE bar after all. The radio was playing rather loud Top 40 music which didn’t seem to fit the décor and setting of the place. Imagine this: the restaurant is dark, tables are lit by candlelight, fireplace is going, keeping things cozy, your date leans over to hold your hand… then you’re kinda yelling over Mya’s «My Love is Like Whoa,» to talk to them. For food, we ordered the avocado fries and their margherita pizza. The avocado fries were pretty good, but their margherita pizza was pretty mediocre. It’s was mainly sauce, very little basil, hardly any mozzarella cheese. Our server was very nice and personable, but he was very busy as he was tending the bar as well which explains the inattentive service. I think if they figure out their niche, and possibly hire more staff/servers, it could be a great place. But, we probably won’t be going back any time soon.

I went to D.O.C. last night with a friend for a few drinks. This was my first time there and my experience was mixed. The place is pretty cool inside with tables, comfy chairs, a fireplace, and of course a long bar, etc. It would definitely be a good place to come during the winter time when its cold outside and all you want to do is drink some wine by a fireplace. Otherwise, it is pretty dark inside so if you want to be able to see the people you’re drinking with it might be a little difficult. Also, they play loud top 40 music. This would be acceptable if this place was a douchey bar. Instead it’s a wine bar… how about some classy wine bar music? The menu here is ridiculous. If you’re looking to buy a bottle of wine you’ll love this place. The menu is 90% devoted to bottles from all over the world spanning every different type of wine you might be interested in. For those looking for something other than a bottle, there is a page of wine by the glass, a page of whiskey, a page of cocktails, and a page of beer. Initially it was actually quite overwhelming. The worst part of my whole experience was how poor the service was. We were served almost immediately and ordered our first round of drinks. When we were ready for a second round the bartender(a tall guy with an afro) was nowhere to be seen. When he finally came by we asked for the menu. The menu never came. He came by to fill our waters and we asked for the menu again. And we waited. Eventually after sitting at the bar for almost 3 hours we just decided it wasn’t worth sticking around anymore, especially if the staff had no interest in serving us. All things considered, I’d try this place again just because it is a cool space and I enjoy a glass of wine… BUT the service needs to be better!

Crispy thin gourmet pizzas, opulent wine collection, dark and swanky bivouc style with hot men behind the bar. Ow! Hey there natural and bushy tall drink. You know how to strut and the management should definitely know that you brought em to the yard. ;-) Post this cold shower, yes DOC is seriously a nice place to get your sophisticated chill on and sip the end of the spectrum that’s far far away from that case of shitty Sutter Home that’s been collecting dust in the pantry. Do yourself a favor and slip on some nice attire, get your head right and walk through the door.
