As a vegan the deserts weren’t good. But the bagels were top notch.

A vegan coffe place! All vegan, charming little spot. Lots of vintage tables and chairs, big on interesting handmade décor. I love the feeling of this place. The staff is friendly enough. A few baked goods, some sandwich options to order. I had an americano and it tasted good, tasty pastry as well. Conveniently located near the red line.

Even though it was my second stop on my way home(we’d dined at a small café around the corner for breakfast), I made a point to visit Delicious Café, because I like to(a) support as many quality local vegan places as possible; and(b) it was my birthday and I wanted a little«treat» to take home with me. I was very disappointed. The selection of baked goods was very small. Where were the scones I’d seen in the photos? Where were the cakes and all the muffins? I only saw one kind of muffin – a banana flaxseed muffin. I ordered that«for here,» and it was not fresh baked. It was cold(like, sitting in the fridge overnight cold). I used a fork to eat it, and it was so hard that it nearly flew off the table when I tried to cut into it. Needless to say, the muffin was not very flavorful and the crumb lived up to the unfortunate reputation of vegan pastries – dry, dense, and bland. This was particularly disappointing, since my boyfriend’s mother – who basically HATES that we are vegan – was there with us. The ambiance was similarly dry and bland. It looks like one of those places that was opened with much love and care, but that, over time, was permitted to go as stale as its food offerings. Even the service was imbued with a note of indifference. I don’t know. Perhaps the clerk was just having a bad morning? I was so looking forward to this place that we actually got there an hour before they opened(not realizing they weren’t open till 10 a.m.). When we discovered they were closed, we disappointedly went to a non-vegan café(with vegan options) for breakfast – which turned out to be fantastic. On our way to the car, my boyfriend noted, «Well, I guess that was a happy mistake.» When I looked confused, he explained, «Well, that it was closed when we originally got there, forcing us to go to a much better café around the corner.» My thought exactly.

I’m a big fan of this place. I’m always looking for cute little café’s with some character, and Delicious Café fits the bill. Also, huge bonus points for having a full case of gluten free baked goods! When I asked which of the items were gluten free and the woman working responded ‘all but the scones’ I was first in shock and then proceeded to take five minutes to decide what I wanted because I’m not used to having so many choices. There were several kinds of cupcakes, several different muffins, brownies, cookies, you name it. I went with the flaxseed banana muffin and it was really tasty and quite filling. Good flavor and texture, which are not always the case with all gluten free sweets. I also got the chai latte with soy milk, and it was quite good and had subtle differences to your average chai which I appreciated. I found the prices for the drinks to be on the high side, but on the other hand they don’t charge extra for alternative milks, such as soy, almond or coconut milk. So if you don’t usually go for regular milk, you’re not looking at it costing that much more. The service was quick and friendly enough. If I lived in the neighborhood this would definitely be my go-to coffee shop. I’ll make sure I find my way back here soon though!

One of my favorite coffee shops. Great selection for getting a snack or something larger to hold you over while you study/work. Only wish it wasn’t little bigger, but I do like the low key vibe when it isn’t packed.

A serene little place to get work done. Came on a Monday, stayed for a long time getting some work done, got tea and two breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches are a little pricey, but they are so good that it’s worth it. I’ll be back.

The vibe is very relaxing, like your grandmothers assorted chairs and tables in one room; it’s nice! The food(as tiny of a menu it is) is amazing. The drinks are made with the knowledge that you sometimes don’t find at Starbucks. The only thing that bothered me a little was the women who helped me out were very cold and disinterested. They weren’t mean by any means(word pun!), they were just focused on themselves. Maybe if I were sitting in there reading or writing, I would feel differently. But that’s not going to stop me from going back. Delicious food, great coffee, comfy atmosphere!

First visit here but it’s definitely worth a return trip! Finally a café where I can get good coffee and vegan foodstuffs! Warm and bright. A great place to get work done, read or meet up with a few friends — it’s not huge so don’t bring more than 6 friends!

Rude service on Sunday morning. I had to argue to get a coffee refill cuz of some lame policy. The bagel and butter was nothing special, the baristas did not smile or say or do anything pleasant. The walnut apple muffin sounded great but was doughy and underbaked. I like this place when it was stubbs and have tried to like it again but no one seems able to bring that simpleness back. They try but miss.

Awesome vegan spot with AMAZING baked goods and treats. Order a sandwich if you’re craving something savory but if you’re craving something sweet the brownies will hit the spot. Inside is cozy and artsy. The floor has pennies on it, so cool Don’t go to Starbucks when there is delicious café nearby!

My roommate and I stopped in to do some studying for our exam on a weekday around 12:30 or so in the summer. The place had a quaint charm about it but I will not be going back until it is winter because they do not have air conditioning and it was unbearably hot. As soon as out iced coffee was done we had no option but to run out of there. And sure enough in the sun outside was cooler because we at least had a breeze. The place seems nice and the food looks good but I can’t bear going back for a while.

Went right after opening today. I got their Deluxe Breakfast sandwich w/tempeh bacon, daiya cheddar, tomatoes, onion and Sriracha. It was to die for! The young lady behind the counter got swamped shortly after I placed my order, but still remembered that I had ask for soy milk with my tea(even after I counted it as a lost cause!). I will Deff be going back for breakfast. Oh, and the décor is so cute! The floor is designed with pennies, they have a small lounge area and the paintings on the wall give real life to the place.

The energy in this place makes me want to come back. As previous reviews indicate, I’m a bit of a carnivore, so I wouldn’t plan on coming to a place like this. But I stumbled in to it by accident and absolutely loved it. I was greeted by a courteous barista and ordered a breakfast sandwhich. They more than accommodated my unique order and the dirty chai was fantastic. There was near-constant laughter and singing and general merriment in this establishment that will make me come back!

I pass by this café often now that I live in the area, and finally stopped in without researching place beforehand. It always seems busy so it has to be good! I didn’t know it was vegan(I am not) until I saw all the tasty looking baked goods in the case. I was starving and ordered a bagel with chive cream cheese anyway. I’m always up for trying new things and have had some pretty tasty vegan fare before. The fake cream cheese was surprisingly good! My latte was delicious as well and I’m happy to see they have my favorite brand, Metropolis! The décor is cute and the barista was super friendly during the morning rush. I will be frequenting this place for my coffee fix… and to try more vegan treats!

Delicious is an understatement! Before I flew out of Chicago, I decided to come here for a vegan breakfast.(The infamous diner doesn’t open until 11, which I found strange, so I came here instead) Delicious is a quaint little café on the north side of town. There’s plenty of seating and they have both hot breakfast options and chilled desserts. Not to mention smoothie and lunch options as well. I chose the breakfast sandwich(vegan) and also a large cinnamon roll. The sandwich was very good and despite an earlier review, it was only $ 3.75 plus tax. It was so worth it that I would have paid even more for it. The lady at the counter offered to heat up the cinnamon roll for me and it came out warm and gooey, perfectly satisfying my craving for something sweet. I also had a mango smoothie blended with coconut milk(and a few other fruits that I cannot remember). No pun intended, but it was also very delicious. Not only was the breakfast excellent, but the service was top notch too. I really liked the atmosphere here. It wasn’t too crowded and the whole place was very inviting. The prices were reasonable too. Highly recommended and I would love to come back when I am in Chicago again.

Their iced latte is tasty. Ask the employee making it to go easy on the ice, my latte was 90.0% ice clump. Their selection of vegan baked goods are mostly brought in from other bakeries– Womp womp.

I was strolling down Chicago’s wonderfully cultural and diagonal Lincoln Avenue pondering the thought of where to grab lunch. Unilocal just so happened to have a Unilocal Deal at Delicious Café of $ 7 for $ 12 worth of goodies. I stepped in and the décor freakin’ adorable made me smile and remind me of my youth: Antique tables and chairs which don’t match(yet somehow ‘work’), local art juxtaposed with the bright blue walls, and colorful flowers on every table. I have to give credit to a successful café selling only vegan/vegetarian food. It’s not an easy feat in this carnivorous world of ours! So how was the food, you ask? Um… well…it was… Delicious! I think it’s name describes it well. I ordered the T.B.L.T. sandwich: Wheat bread with mayo, greens, tempeh bacon and tomato slices. I couldn’t believe how much the tempeh actually maintained the smoked bacon flavor! For my fellow tea lovers, they sell Rishi Tea(which I especially love because 1) it sounds like my first name; 2) It’s headquarters is located in our friendly neighbor of Milwaukee). This tea is high quality organic and Fair Trade Certified loose-leaf teas found from all corners of the world, not to mention tasty. While I was tempted to get tea, I was hot after walking to Trader Joe’s from my Ravenswood house and I need a refreshing smoothie. I went with the Purple Cow smoothie composed of Hemp Protein Milk, Blueberries, Bananas and who knows what else! It was quite tasty, beyond the uniquely sweet protein milk which was new to me. I could have gone with almond, coconut or soy milk, but figured what the recipe named would be the best choice. It hit the spot. I hope to come back here just for their delicious-looking desserts made in-house(or a few gluten-free treats from Bot Bakery, vegan desserts from Sweet Cakes Bakery and gluten-free cookies from Liz Lovely). As a side note, they offer their patrons free Wi-Fi(under SSID: tetrisface), however, the connection seemed to drop often. For those with AT&T, their 3G signal is horrible so you’ll need to make calls outside. Oh and keep your eyes open for their Bingo Nights between 8 – 10 pm which helps a local charity.
