I have been coming to Dibs for many years(5+) and have made more then several suggestions to other people to try there food over the years. But the last three visits have been a less than mediocre experience. The crab rangoon which was a highlight to any meal is now a fried piece of crap. The now lack of quality customer service is also quite an off set for you not to go back to this place. I visited Dibs one evening maybe about four tables were being serviced. My busy waitress did not have time to ask how my meal was because she was so busy refilling plastic cups with sweet and sour sauce. She then went around the small cozy restaurant and asked every table except mine ask about there meal. I could not help but to feel offended by her actions. I then had to wave my hand to grab her attention to bring the check. I guess those dam cups and other customers reigned above my request. I will never go back! There are several other thai places that are attentive to ALL customers, and better thai entrees.

After many years of passing Dib up, I finally found the perfect opportunity to stop in and try them out. For a Friday evening, the place wasn’t too packed, which, could be good and bad. The joint was nicely designed and decorated. Small, but cute. We were seated immediately, since they weren’t too busy. Our order was taken shortly after. The waitress wasn’t nice, but wasn’t mean. She was jut there to do her job… Not very welcoming and not very warm. Felt like I was at a fast food place, where you place your order at the counter and go wait at a table. Not warm nor welcoming. Just doing their job. The food came out in a reasonable time. We have the masalaman(sp?) curry, spider and spicy salmon maki, and tofu pad see ew. The curry was very good, but as is my complaint with every other Thai restaurant, they never give enough rice, and want to charge you for more. Sooo annoying. When you order something that comes with rice, you should get enough rice to finish the dish! Anyway, the sushi rolls were very good. I actually really enjoyed my spicy salmon. The tofu pad see ew was ok – a big chunk off noodles were still stuck together and white, meaning they didn’t have any flavor because weren’t seasoned at all. Our bill came to $ 30. Which is fair. They can definitely work on being a little more warm to the customers. It would definitely help to make the customers want to come back. Overall, I didn’t have a bad time, but it wasn’t enough of a decent time for me to come back. 3 stars.

I order delivery from here a little too regularly great BYOB choice for dining in. I have always had great service for delivery, granted I live way too close to be ordering delivery but that’s just me being decadent. I highly recommend the sushi, and have no complaints about the Thai offerings. Love the Crab Rangoon.

I just got home and starting eating my fried rice when I found a cockroach in the dish and promptly threw up. I was a regular here for the past four years and am sad to report this disgusting thing that happened. Needless to say, I alerted the health department and will never be eating there again. Be warned.

Dib — What’s with the small portions, this isn’t wartime… so then why are you rationing meals? This is the perfect place if you’re fine with food that is portion-controlled and the server is more concerned with filling those stupid plastic cups with soy sauce than giving you good customer service. BTW, she was right next to me(it’s a small restaurant) doing this busy work while I was trying to eat my mini-meal! Dib, we’re not all on a macrobiotic diet, some of us actually want to eat filling meals. And Miss Server didn’t make things better by giving me Thai iced coffee overflowing with an enormous amount of ice. So what did I do you ask? I scooped out most of the ice, only to find the drink was half full and then gently interrupted her side job(with the little plastic cups) that she was so intent on filling. On a side note, I found it interesting the ice water I requested only had a few measly ice cubes in it… I guess they were rationed too! Honestly, I think she was shocked that I asked her to do a little more than she usually does. I think good customer service was a foreign notion to her, or maybe an afterthought? Anyways the meal, the lunch version of chicken teriyaki(one piece) and assorted tempura, mini salad and sticky rice was so so… just not a go-go!

This is a hidden gem in my neighborhood. I try something new every time and I’ve loved everything. Very well priced and byob. Private atmosphere, I highly recommend it!

I work next door and really enjoy Din for lunch. Lunch specials are great. Modern and clean environment. Service can be a tad slow.

We ordered takeout for the first time from this place and had a great meal. The food was fresh and flavorful. We had pad Thai, crab Rangoon, egg rolls and a basil chicken dish. Literally all were outstanding. Next time we will order sushi. We really enjoyed the meal and also found the workers very friendly.

Good sushi, the rolls are a little small, we came when it was half off, we got 8 rolls and ended up paying 45 or something so price is good when half off.

Not a fan. Tried some of the popular sushi items grub hub recommended and honestly I think a couple of them tasted like cardboard. My boyfriend’s shrimp pad thai was tasteless. Otherwise, very speedy delivery.

Great little joint! Good service, really good food, and they deliver. Sushi is generic, but good enough for the average Joe. Kitchen items are well prepared, and just above what you would expect from a place like this. Some of my favorites are the Gyoza, Combination Tempura, Tom Kha, Yakisoba. The Salmon Butter is next on the list of things to try :-)

I was told to try this place for the sushi and for the closeness to where I work. Honestly, I was disappointed. I paid $ 40 for sushi and only ate/really liked about $ 12 worth. I loved the Philly roll and ate the miso soup. I also ordered a spicy crunchy tuna roll and a spicy tuna hand roll and I was not impressed. I really wanted to like Dib’s sushi and give a great review but I didn’t like it at all. I’ve been eating sushi for a long time and it’s become my favorite cuisine so I like to think that I’m a pretty good taste tester for sushi. I ordered it through and had it delivered to my apartment. It was here within 20 minutes of ordering which is pretty standard for sushi orders so I’ll say the service was great.

Pretty good spot for a filling sushi lunch. The lunch specials are a great deal and the fish I’ve ordered has always tasted fresh. The scallop sashimi is great here and a pretty big portion. I always start with their garden salad with ginger dressing – the strawberries and orange slices are a nice touch but the salad could use more dressing. Cucumber salad is refreshing too. I always try to steal a bite of whatever cooked thai dish that my boyfriend is having. Oh! The tom kha soup is pretty solid here as well. The service can be hit or miss but you forget about it once the food arrives. Its also BYOB.

The texture of the rice was really off-putting for me; the rice had a similar consistency of tapioca pudding. The ambiance was fine; they do not serve alcohol so keep that in mind. There is a liquor store very close by(JJ Peppers). Although the sushi was not up to the quality I would prefer, the other Thai dishes, soups and appetizers were delicious. The waitstaff is also very friendly and accommodating.

The service here never comes with a smile, the food is pretty good(but there’s nothing here that you can’t find a better version of somewhere else), and while the décor is nice, I don’t think it’s particularly well cleaned(there has been the same mysterious looking stain on one of the bench seats for about a year). On the plus side: the lunch special is a pretty good value, they have a free parking, and you can order online. Overall, it’s fine, but there are better options out there

We have ordered from Dib a number of times. In fact, it was our go-to spot for decent thai and sushi up until we discovered Indie Café, which is better-tasting food during a similar delivery time window. Having stuck with Indie for the past few years, we decided to give Dib another chance… and, sadly, I’ll be going back to Indie. Dib is fast, which is a huge plus, but then again, we live within a mile or so of the restaurant, so distance really doesn’t really factor. We ordered: tofu pad thai, tofu fried rice, shrimp and veggie tempura and a free order of edamame came with. Despite showing up at our doortstep less than 30 minutes after we ordered, our noodles and rice were gummy. Blobs of noodles stuck together in what was one, large gelatin-like mass. The rice was so overcooked it looked bloated with water. Flavors for both were OK, but the texture threw it all to Hell. The tempura was fine — the dipping sauce was the star there — and you can’t really mess up edamame, so that was a-ok. But, overall, I think I’ll stick with my other noodle, sushi and rice joint.

I had high hopes for this place which is why I decided to come here recently and not to mention some good friends of mine have given this place decent reviews… its also a 10 min walk from me and I love sushi! Its BYOBFYI! Not a big place but i works and they have a parking lot which is good for drivers that do not feel like looking for a parking space or paint the meters/pay box. We started with a seaweed salad which was good and had a nice presentation. For the entrée we got 2 rolls each. Crunchy Spicy Tuna — some of the wist I ever had… very rice heavy and just not good Rainbow Roll — pretty decent Dragon Roll– The best out of the 4 Tom Yum Maki — Pretty good The staff here were very nice… would come back but may try the thai food and the sashimi

Dib — what a cute place, nestled in the heart of Uptown off Lawrence Avenue. I stopped in here a couple weeks ago — since I live nearby and have heard many good things about this place. Firstly, I should mention that I’m not a sushi-eater, so I opted for a Thai dish — so my review is based on that. The service and décor are both great and proximity to my house really cannot be matched. My friend and I had edamame to start which was tasty. I had the Panang Curry — and my friend a teriyaki dish. The curry itself was really tasty — but the chicken was a bit off for me. My friend liked his dish, but wasn’t in love either. I will give them another shot — but love my Thai Aroma and Pennies Noodles.

There is a small parking lot, so parking was very easy. The restaurant itself was a small cozy one with contemporary design. The menu itself was somewhat extensive, and there were definitely some Thai dishes. I ordered green tea for my beverage. To start off with, my friend and I had the gyozas as well as the crab rangoon. The gyozas were steamed, and came with a soy sauce/vinegar. The crab rangoon were nice and crispy and came with a side of a sweet sauce that complemented well. For the main entrees, we shared the Spider and the Crunch Spicy Tuna roll as well as the Hawaiian fried rice. The Spider roll was very wet and there were limited amount of fried soft crab within. The Crunch Spicy Tuna roll, on the other hand was quite spicy, and good for any spice lovers out there. The Hawaiian fried rice had a nice coating of soy sauce, and the cashews as well as the slices of pineapple and the slivers of mango added somewhat of an interesting touch. We also shared a banana wonton dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Just a note: be care of the fried wonton as they can be very sharp! The banana itself was quite ripe and the vanilla ice cream was delicious and creamy. +crab rangoon +Hawaiian fried rice

There is a new trend of sushi restaurants offering both Thai and Japanese cuisine. Sounds odd but these places are run and owned by Thai people many of which have worked in a Japanese restaurant prior. Dib is adding to the trend offering both Thai staples and Japanese maki rolls in the heart of Uptown. Located conveniently across from the Aragon ballroom, Dib’s trendy and clean interior is refreshing. Rather than your mom and pop shop hole in the wall that you expect of Uptown, Dib stands out with the modern and hip interior. The menu has classics from both cuisines but the prices were the most surprising since they offer lunch specials every day till 2:30pm and lower prices on sushi. You can get a spicy tuna roll for only $ 4. Surprisingly, the Thai food was forgettable. On the other hand, service was great and the sushi was the real deal. The sashimi pieces were huge and thick and the chili crab roll was a great fusion between Japanese and Thai flavors. Dib has a great start but should work on offering more dishes and maki rolls that fuse the two cuisines. Otherwise, there are plenty of other better Thai and Japanese restaurants within the area.
