Dog. Hotel & Daycare

Dog is absolutely the best in Chicago! The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and the place is very clean and fun for all pups. My dog also got a bath with de-​shed treatment; she was happy and looked great when I picked her up. I also liked that the groomer gave me a report on how she did during her bath and stay. We will definitely be going back to Dog. Thank you so much to the staff and owners at Dog for making it such a great place!

We love DOG! Everyone there is a true dog lover– they clearly love the dogs and take such good care of them. A lot of thought went into the design of the facility as well. Our dog Ina Garten has gone to daycare there since she was a new puppy when they just had opened, and we sometimes board her there when we go out of town. We don’t feel guilty because she adores it there! They do such a good job making a point of keeping it super clean and healthy and keep everyone up to speed when the dogs have special meals and needs. They pick up and drop off, they’ve even helped us out getting Ina to the vet and groomer. When Ina hears the daycare shuttle arriving she starts wagging her tail and runs to be on her way. She even has best friends there who she hangs out with all day. She comes home happy and tired. Truly the best!

I’m never quite sure who is more stressed about going out of town my husband and I, or our pup Sgt. Beetles. We’ve tried Doggy Vacay (pretty sure our dog sitter stole from us), we’ve tried Beets staying at a sitters and we were nervous when we wouldn’t hear from them in three days, we’ve been tempted to leave him with friends, but then he’d have to be home by himself all day, which is no fun.
We’ve been looking for a great boarding facility that we can trust since we bought him home with us two years ago, and finally we have found the one — well Beets found a bowl of their business cards & treats and lucky for him I can use Unilocal!
Kristina was gracious enough to answer my many emails, I booked with late notice, cancelled my booking and then she reinstated my original booking with even later notice!
The health of the pups is extremely important to them, I was asked to provide a copy of Beets vaccination & a negative fecal test result. Dog care facilities have had such a rough time of late with the many respiratory infections doing the rounds, it was great to know that they were doing their due diligence.
Beets was on medication and they were able to accomodate that for us. Plus he eats an awkward hipster food brand that requires adding a very specific amount of warm water to it, and they didn’t even flinch at the request.
We turned up with a small wheeled suitcase (seriously), with his bed, his favourite blanket, some of his toys, food, treats, his water bowl and medication and not only was everything returned to me when I picked him up — it turns out they had washed all the fabric items before packing it all up, so it was all daisy fresh.
That wasn’t the only thing returned to me in better condition that it arrived, Sgt. Beetles came bounding out of there this morning relaxed, excitable and happy. He was excited to see me but not in that crazy, anxiety ridden way we’ve seen him before. He seemed a little more confident than when we dropped him off and he was happy to see the other staff members.
As for us, we had one of our most relaxed trips in the last two years. Every morning we would log onto the Tiny Land webcam and watch Beetles interacting with the other dogs & getting some love off of the staff. He is social, but he has never been much of a «player» usually preferring to hang with the people, so it was reassuring to know there are people there ²⁴⁄₇.
We have some other trips coming up this year and we will definitely be taking Beets back, we may even check out the Daycare as they have transport option too.

Other things I loved:
— They accommodated my last minute request for him to be Bath
— They are open ²⁴⁄₇ so pick up & drop off are super flexible
— The dogs stay in the facility all the time with a mix of social time & individual potty breaks
— They took me on a tour of the facility it’s very clean and smells pretty fresh, the doggy suites with the cameras are AWESOME!
— The staff are very friendly & professional, you can tell they adore all of the dogs and I felt confident leaving my pup with them.

We have been bringing our french bulldog here for about 8 – 9 months now. We recently dropped her off for a long weekend as we were going out of town, and she got a UTI! Bridget and her staff went out of their way to make sure she was ok, and even went to our Vet to pick up a prescription for her. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure your pups are in the best hands!

We made our first reservation here at the very last minute after our dogsitter fell through right before a weekend away. I’d been really unhappy with our previous boarding spot, so I was hesitant, but from the very first minute there, I was totally comfortable. Super friendly staff. We love watching the dog cam. He gets a bath/​nail trim/​toothbrushing before pick up too. Close to home and reasonable price. We won’t use anyone else anymore!

We love this place! We recently moved here from Phoenix where my two large dogs went to a fabulous in home day care. We were so concerned that we wouldn’t be able to find a place that would take care of our dogs, make sure they were safe, having fun and in a clean environment. Luckily we found DOG Chicago right away and have been very impressed. Every time I drop them off, they run to the door to go to the back and play– they obviously love going here! While that’s important, I also like how clean this place is. I’ve been to some other places where you couldn’t even get in the front lobby without the smell overwhelming you. Not here, in fact, I can barely detect any dog smell at all in this place which means my dogs come home smelling ok (a little sweaty of course but not gross!). We also love the webcam. I pull it up on my computer and work and take a look through out the day. It’s nice to be able to see them happy and being taken care of at all times. Sometimes I even see my dogs pictures posted on their Instragram account which is fun! Finally, I like the flexible hours so I can drop them off and pick up almost anytime of the evening with no extra charges.
Great job, keep up the good work and we will keep coming back!

I took my pup here to be boarded over night for the first time. I was super nervous and she was fine of course! I picked her up and she was sprawled out on her bed for the rest of the day! The staff seems great! They’re super friendly. Taking her back today!

I cannot say enough great things about how well my dog has been taken care of while staying at Dog. This is the first boarding facility I’ve taken my dog to where I feel like they really love her and give her the attention she deserves when I’m away. Being able to watch the webcam is hilarious.
My dog has some health concerns and is on frequent medications and also requires frequent bathing due to skin allergies. All of her needs are met when she boards without a problem. Seriously, they do a better job managing her health issues here than when I board her at the vet!
Being open ²⁴⁄₇ makes taking my dog here so convenient as I work 10 hours a day and it can be difficult to find a daycare with convenient pick up/​drop off times for my schedule.
Overall this is the best doggy daycare/​boarding experience I think you’ll find in the city!

We specifically looked for best dog boarding in Chicago with camera and found Dog Hotel|Daycare. Our boy Bubble is a playful Bichon puppy, and he loves playing with everyone, every dog! We brought him for overnight boarding both last and this weekends, and watched him sleeping and playing through individual suite and playground cameras. Super sweet and nice place! Will definitely bring Bubble back in the future.

Dog. Hotel is fantastic. From the airy layout, various sized play areas, dog suites, meticulously clean environment and super easy drop off area, Dog. Hotel delivers and is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
I’ve dropped off my two dogs for week long boarding, and both stays were great. My dogs (medium size) clearly enjoyed themselves, and were taken care of by well-​skilled staff!

First and foremost, I’d like to get this off my chest: THANK YOU!!! Bridget and Margaret always take care and update me when Bruce is boarded there. The staff is amazing. They know Bruce and are very playful with him. The place is gorgeous! I’ve taken Bruce to a few different dog daycares, and non of them compare to this place. A big plus– it doesn’t stink when you walk in! I love the fact they have webcams for either rooms or play areas. They offer great services for a fantastic deal. When I pick up Bruce, he’s definitely exhausted for a few days. This is my new daycare for my pup! Thank you again!

I wish to thank everyone at Dog. Hotel/​Daycare for taking care of Sailor. I’ve used the kennel services 3 times this summer and I know that he’s cared for just like he is part of your family. It’s been a wonderful experience and I recommend everyone to bring their Dog to Dog. Hotel/​Daycare.

After a few months of sending our pup to DOG, we have decided to pull him out. A few things happened along the way —
1) Our dog’s collar was forgotten during morning pickup although his harness was put on him. We had to run down and try to catch the bus driver to give our dog’s collar to the driver. Luckily, we did.
2) His food was forgotten on two morning pickup occasions. On the 2^nd occasion, luckily, we were running late for work and were home, and, thus, ran out with it and caught the bus driver in the hall.
3) He was picked up on one occasion despite me emailing and calling the night before requesting he wasn’t to be picked up because his knee was acting up. I had emailed, called to confirm the email was received to the individual working the front desk, reiterated the request and confirmed he wouldn’t be picked up in the morning. Unfortunately, in the morning, the driver came to our door as the request was not logged, but I was luckily home. I let them take our pup to daycare anyway with the stipulation that they monitor him closely and limit his play. They successfully did this, but the lack of communication really caught us off guard.
4) After boarding for a weekend, we picked him up and the night staff could not find a few of his things. When we asked a few questions about our dog’s eating habits, playing, etc., the young gentleman at the front desk said he did not know about any of it and that he was just night staff. Thankfully, the daycare sent his stuff home with the bus driver later that week or the week after.
We were informed that the individual in (1)-(4) was let go from the facility and others hired with the goal that these mistakes would not happen again.
5) After him being out of daycare for over 2 weeks due to the uptick in dog flu cases and him not having had it yet, I spoke with Bridget on a Sunday regarding him coming back to daycare that week. After discussing, she recommended him staying home another week and us playing it by ear as they mentioned it was possible they had a canine flu carrier client or two (they do not exhibit symptoms) as they are common right now. We agreed.
Come Wednesday, he was picked up for daycare without my knowing. Our dog walker had come to walk our pup and texted me «He’s missing,» seeing as he was not in the house (please note, she looked EVERYWHERE and is very familiar with our home and our dog seeing as she was dogsitting him at our home for 10 days the week prior).
Upon calling daycare, I was told that our dog was picked up that morning and played at daycare all day then was dropped home by 2:30 — 2:45 p.m. despite my conversation earlier that week with Bridget. However, they couldn’t confirm with the driver for about 30 minutes that our pup was dropped off, by when I had already left my office and gone home to find out what was happening in my home with my dog. He was home by then, 3:30 p.m.
I called daycare again to let them know he was home. They then said that it was an oversight on the manager’s part (Bridget) and it was not logged in the book. When I spoke with Bridget later that night, she said that the driver might have picked up the wrong sheet, contrary to what the front desk staff had told us earlier. The staff also divulged that the managers were both out that day, and, thus, no manager was able to call us back until after 7 p.m. when Bridget did. She blamed it on the staff instead of taking responsibility herself (their staff conveyed to us it was an issue on her part).
We pulled our dog from the daycare the same day very upset that, despite our vigilance, he was erroneously picked up again + he was exposed to the flu. Within 7 days, we had spent over $ 1,000 at the vet and over 20 hours there as he contracted the canine flu. I honestly think my dog was on death’s doorstep. Per the request of our vet, we let DOG know that he had caught it and received a very evasive reply regarding various sources he could have contracted it, ending with their well-​wishes. We hoped we would receive some kind of help with the bills or apology, finally owning up to the mistake that was made and how it manifested, but we did not.
Please note, all of these issues HAVE been conveyed in the to the daycare owners as they happened. Having worked in a small business myself in the past and also having put together a business plan for a dog daycare, I understand the learning curve upon opening a facility like this. It is a very difficult business to open and maintain, especially with the rise of the canine flu over the past year. However, the repetition of errors and the last situation not only upset us but broke our hearts.
It pains me to write this update to our review — it has taken me about a month to do so — because the facility is beautiful and we love Jillian and Margaret. However, good management would always own up to their mistakes and work to mend the relationship with the client. We did not find that to be the case here.

How can I express how amazing Dog. is?! Dog. Hotel Daycare is absolutely the best. Every time I pick up my girl Winnie, the place is incredibly clean and the staff are super friendly. The owners Margaret and Bridget are incredible, and you can feel the love, compassion and knowledge they have for dogs.
Winnie literally pulls me into daycare every time we go because she just loves every second there. Some of the perks of going to Dog is that they offer flexible pick up and drop off times, experienced and responsible staff (you rest easy knowing your baby is taken care of), spa services (bath, nails, etc.), webcams, and a peaceful evening as your pup sleeps after a long day of fun activities. As a very protective dog parent, I would recommend Dog. to all pup owners in Chicago for boarding and daycare services.

My dog LOVES Nina Dog. and so do her parents! My sweet girl is shy around other dogs and the staff at Dog. has been so patient with her. They moved her from the large dog room to the medium dog room because the big dogs were a little much for her (explains all the bald patches and bite marks she got at her old daycare). Nina now loves going to daycare. She is always excited to see the staff members and they love seeing her as well. Due to their epoxy floors she never smells when she comes home which is a huge plus! If you are looking for the best doggie daycare and boarding facility in Chicago definitely check out Dog.

When I go out of town I prefer to leave my pup with my parents because I know they love her as much as I do. That’s not always an option though. Insert Dog. Hotel | Daycare. You can tell the folks who work here really love the dogs, and that to me is the most important part about boarding your pooch. It just so happens the prices are pretty competitive as well.
It’s about $ 50 for 24 hours and they’re flexible on the pick up time if you’re running a tad late. Your dog gets a decent sized suite to sleep in and about 7 hours of playtime with other pups. They’re also open 24 hours and have webcams if you’re away and missing your little ones. It was awesome to come home and have my girl just pass out and sleep peacefully.
They do a bath before you pick up which is free with a Unilocal Check In. Overall a great stay for my sweet little pup.

Way overpriced and the staff I spoke to weren’t the brightest, place seemed clean.

Love this place! They take such good care of my dog (who like most dog parents, I am obsessed with). It’s also a plus that I can watch her play on the camera while I’m at work. Both of the owners are amazing and so friendly. Margret, one of the owners, gave me a tour and the facility is beautiful and clean. Can’t wait to bring my dog back!

I LOVE Dog. Chicago! My pooch Ragnar gets so excited when we pull up to the building and doesn’t want to leave when I come to pick him up. The staff is the absolute best (shout out to the AM manager Christina!) and the owners are beyond accommodating. We have been using their daycare services for the last month and I love watching the dogs play during the day on the webcams as well as their social media posts. I live in Lakeview and don’t mind driving my puppy to «camp» a few days a week because this is such a wonderful place.

Love this place! Koby has stayed there for boarding a couple time and every time he comes home exhausted from playing all day. We can see him on the webcam playing fetch with the staff! Much better than the other daycares we’ve tired, they are less crowded and actually give your dog attention. Margaret and Bridget are great and I would highly recommend them.

Worst experience ever. The people were very nice, but my dogs were exposed to kennel cough at this place. Symptoms appeared within on day of my dogs spending two nights at this establishment. It has been a nightmare. I tried this place as my usually boarding facility was closed due to the dog flu. I will not go back.

Has to be the best dog hotel in Chicago. Left our 8lb poodle mix there for five days. She played for much of the day with other dogs her size in a very modern, clean and caring environment (everyone who works there obviously loves dogs), and we were even able to check on her on our phones via their webcam. At night, she was in a roomy glass encased room with her bedding, toys, and food. When it was time to come home, they gave her a bath and even washed her bed and blanket. All for a very reasonable cost. Will definitely return for day care and boarding.

As someone who felt very skeptical of the safety & care in daycares, I am very impressed by Dog. Hotel & Daycare!!! My pup is very obviously happy there, as he pulls to get inside; doesn’t care when we leave, but more so about seeing the caretakers; doesn’t want to leave when we come get him. I can feel the love the staff have for him & he for them. I love seeing him on Instagram, the webcams, and Facebook throughout his day!!! And, I so appreciate the extra care I feel from owners Margaret and Bridget. They obviously love what they do!!!

I absolutely love Dog. Hotel | Daycare! There are so many good things to say, I’m not even sure where to begin. I just moved from NYC, and it was so hard trying to find a doggie daycare for my best pooch, but then… I found Dog. and everything was right in the world again.
Bridget and Margaret have been a lifesaver and have been so great and supportive in making sure my dog, who is typically quite and somewhat reserved, is adjusting to daycare and all of her new daily surroundings. But not only that, the level of care and concern they have towards the dogs is so incredibly evident in everything they say and do– they truly are there to help not only you as a pet owner, but to also completely love and dote on the animals. Also the facility is so clean and spotless and the wet vac that they use to clean the floors is the best, because your pet doesn’t smell of ammonia at end of day when they come home. And speaking of coming home… there is a wonderful transport service they provide and it’s so incredibly helpful and convenient especially since I live downtown and I do not have a car!
Everything is wonderful about this place. Staff is great, the facility is superb, and your pet (s) get to play and have so much fun during the day (lots of belly rubs and lovins)! Oh, and did I mention the webcam? The feed is always up on my computer screen at work, so I can see my sweet pooch during the day.
Love love love this place! It’s so comforting knowing my dog is playing in a safe, clean environment, but that she is also surrounded by people who care for her so much!
