I do not shop Eileen Fisher regularly, but I enjoy stocking up on the basics whenever the opportunity presents itself. I especially like their linen t’s. Sure, there are cheaper versions to be had, but something about the drape and hand of the fabric makes it easy for me to justify the price. I hit this store up during a sale a couple of weekends ago and walked out with a white hi-lo racerback tank in linen-cotton, and a colorblocked grey and black short-sleeved t in a similar drapey fabric. If taken care of(washed on delicate and not exposed to a dryer) these items will stand the test of time. Occasionally, Eileen Fisher dips her toe into the season’s trends. I tried on a sale rack pair of harem pants that looked promising and were not aggressively fashion victim. Since I am petite, the overall effect was that of MC Hammer pants and they ended up going back on the rack. Definitely some quality pieces to be had here, especially if the(sale) timing is right.

Got a gift card for my sister at Christmas time. The store lay-out is classy and the staff is efficient and personable. But those clothes: they aint cheap. I felt a bit embarrassed dropping $ 50 because about all my sister could trade it in for is a hat. Which she did! A nice one, too.

While I agree that a lot of their stuff is frumpy, you can find some really cute pieces here. At forty something, I am always the youngest person in this store. I love their featherweight cashmere pieces and their t-shirts are heaven on earth albeit pricey. That’s probably my only complaint about EF, the prices for what you get are a bit much. $ 88 for a vneck cotton tshirt is a little much. And their sales aren’t that impressive. I also don’t like their return policy of only 14 days for full refund. You can get 30 days off the website. Also, I wish they had a bigger selection of petite items, but that is typical with all companies. It’s just that EF is designed for tall women, so it would be nice if they offered more pieces in petite sizes for some of us non-Amazons.

I love this store for the colors and fabrics that are used in the clothing. Every season I love to just browse the new color combinations — always something a bit new and never unnerving — colors like chocolate brown and aqua, dark grey and bright pink or yellow or another color that is complimentary and versatile. And the names of the colors are both descriptive and helpful when you find another piece and want to match it. Most of the time the colors match or blend across dye lots. The fabrics are always lovely and interesting — most often hand washable. The colors in the different fabrics are always complimentary and interesting in textures and weights.

I am not in the habit of purchasing a ton of EF but I learned from my dear old mum that their basics are great– black and white tees and camis are trustworthy and durable. The staff in this store is great and the selection is fab. They let you browse without breathing down your neck and are always happy to help. One of the last reasons to venture inside Water Tower.
