First time at this particular Einstein l and Boy was it different from any of my past experiences! I have usually received great service but this was one my worst experiences ANYWHERE! The young lady(Gloria) whom was to serve me was(as I thought) having a difficult day. I saw her completing the order of the customer before me and actually slightly tossed her change back into her hand as some of coins fell to the counter. She then proceeded to start making my order but first asked what sandwich I would like again! So I stated the sandwich in which I first requested b4 changing my mind. She expressly launched back at me verbally with«No, No… you said Apple Bacon/Cheddar and not Bacon and Spinach!» «Now I have to throw this away!» I calmly expressed that, «I’m sure she could easily make the adjustment.» But she expressed most vehemently, that she could not do so… as she walked to the back to complain(with profanity) loudly to the lovely Asst. Mgr. Whom cane out from the back quickly w/o any complaints and begin to make an egg for the sandwich. Gloria, on the other hand, was still murmuring while completing my order. So I gently asked her if she was having a bad day? She answered with sarcasm that she was having a Great Day! As she proceeded to complete my order the young lady whom Gloria had supposedly serve waved to get her attention to say that she still had not given her her bag of food which she had purchased a while ago! To shorten this awful experience… we also had problems with scanning my online discount and she offered no resolutions, so I said thank you and proceeded to walk towards the door! Afterwards, she grabbed the bag of food and proceeded to complain(with profanity again) to the Asst. Mgr. Once again she calmly comes towards the counter and attempts to scan with no avail! Types in the discount and we had a nice conversation about her pregnancy and due date… and also how she needs to speak with Gloria about her attitude and horrific service! The Assistant Manager is the reason one star!

The most lackluster customer service I have ever experienced. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Woman at the counter blatantly ignored the fourth member of our party and did not take her order. Reconsider your staffing processes.

Terrible service the people working are barely doing their jobs and they mumble. Very unfriendly no wonder all the Einstein’s have shut down in Chicago. This one needs to go!

Be sure to check your bag before you leave. 1. Girl said she put potato salad in bag. Negative. 2 bagel was supposed to be toasted. Negative 3. Had to wait for more ice to be put in drink dispenser. 4. Strong roast coffee tasted weaker than medium roast. Neither was good. There are many good food choices on Wells. Skip this one!

Store not very clean. I come here weekly and it’s never open on time. Unfortunately my kids like these bagels. Today the reason was their systems were acting up. Acting up? That didn’t make sense. They will open 6:45am. I wonder what the reasons were previously?

Don’t get me wrong, I love bagels and usually einsteins. But this is by far the worst one I have any been too. Even if there is only 2 or 3 people in line I wait upwards of 15 minutes, the staff is extremely rude and slow, and they do not open when they are scheduled to open. This morning I went when they opened and they would not open the door for me and the man in front of me, and locked the door. This place needs new employees.

I come here all the time to get the lox & bagel and with every visit, I get less and less lox. Service is sub par and the menu states that a sandwich will include a pickle and a choice of chips, potato salad or fresh fruit. I have been denied multiple times for a choice of any of these items. Not sure if the menu is misleading or if my experience at this Einstein Bros location has been a disaster since day 1, but I am very angered with my experiences here. I will not be coming back until I see some significant improvements in service, portions(there is no set standard for how much lox should be on the bagel), and a clear explanation of why I did not receive pickles or any of the side choices for my past purchases.

I love the bagels and cream cheese but the staff here is so slow and never know what they’re doing. Always looking up recipes etc

Good: Soft, warm, delicious every seed bagels made fresh every day. Bad: Bagels run out pretty quick, especially the good varieties(every seed, poppy) Worse: Clean your ice machine! There is consistently black/brown particles in the ice cubes. It’s pretty disgusting and a shame because their fountain coke mix game is on point.

I always liked the convenience of this location in the neighborhood. It is always busy, but was worth the wait. Unfortunately, after my experience today, I will not be going back. I should have known the experience would be anything but normal the moment I stepped in the door. Upon entering I had to step over a pile of garbage and broom sitting on the floor in the middle of the store. Not a big deal, these things happen, places get busy. But then I get to the counter, the customer in front of me leaves in a huff without placing an order after dealing with one of the rudest servers I’ve ever encountered. Although a red flag, I’m hungry… so I stick around. I order a Ham and Swiss breakfast bagel and a side of potato salad. The server yells that that sandwich isn’t a combo and doesn’t come with potato salad!!! Her rant was so out of nowhere, her co-worker jumped in to tell her to calm down. I told her I understood it did not come with potato salad and that I would pay additional money for it. Can you believe the nerve of me… to want to purchase an additional item from a business that in fact offers that particular item. I really owe that woman an apology. I wish I could say my bad experience ended there. Upon receiving my food, I tried to put the encounter behind me and sit down to eat. I placed my food on the table and went to grab a fork for the potato salad. When I returned to sit down, my now favorite employee has picked up the broom everyone coming in the store had to step over and told me she was sweeping the area(which included the table I had my opened food on). I quickly packed up my food and got outta there. I am not sure what time they close(was there at 12:30), but I definitely got the impression that I was holding them up from leaving. So I will do them a favor and never inconvenience them again. There are plenty of other options in the neighborhood that actually enjoy when you spend money in their establishments. Good luck with employees like that Einstein’s, you are going to need it.

Great place for quick bagels. Also teas, coffees and fountain drinks. Had a delicious egg bacon cheese bagel and a cream cheese bagel for about $ 5

Disappointing. I gave this location another try because I live close and get a bagel craving sometimes, but I’ll never give my money here again. They are constantly out of bagels and getting orders wrong. Today I ordered 3 bagels toasted, and none of them were toasted and the cream cheese was wrong. Their credit card machine was broken so it was also cash only. Employees have a bad attitude and the slow service reflects that.

Love their bagels but this morning I had a breakfast sandwich and the egg tasted fake. Very fake and also not fresh. I guess I will just stick to bagels from now on and skip the egg sandwiches. My favorite is the chili bagel. Just wish I could have a real egg on it. Service was ok.

Overpriced for a mediocre breakfast sandwich. I ordered a egg and ham on a cinnamon raisin toasted. The bagel wasn’t bad(and I’m a New Yorker) but having fake eggs is inexcusable. It looked like egg beaters and really ruined the sandwich. Service wasn’t friendly either.

the staff behind the counter will greet you and make eye contact. I did not see if they wore name tags. They have free WiFi, but they expect you to buy something. There is a small eating area. It is not very busy for its location. There are no public bathrooms. I don’t want to spend a lot for a bagel, so that place would be better for someone willing to spend more than .99 for bread. The menu items were more expensive than starbucks and dunkin donuts. If you plan on eating there, bring coupons.

I live directly above and steal the wifi regularly and it is pretty slow. Also when I shower for over 20 min the pipes leak and it goes right on the bagels! I assume they throw them out after that happens but I don’t leave things like that to chance. Einstein’s coffee is pretty terrible too, there’s a Starbucks across the street so why bother?

I went here to grab a bagel and a smoothie. They didn’t toast my bagel because it had«just gotten out of the oven» but it wasn’t very warm and it was actually chewy and underdone. When I got to the register, the employee walked away and mumbled that someone else would help me, I waited 10 minutes while the other employees ignored me and made food for a group of 4 people behind me. When someone finally came to ring me up, I opted against the smoothie because I had no clue how long it would take. Overall the quality of service and food was sub-par, something you don’t expect from a well established chain. I would suggest going to one of the many other restaurants on Wells St., I won’t make this mistake again.

I’m a regular around 11 am on weekdays, so stop here if you want to know about service during earlier hours. I have a few favorite employees and overall appreciate their consistent friendliness, although if you don’t want to tell anyone how your day is going, go someplace else… «Bring your own traveler for $ 1 coffee is an amazing deal!» Asiago bagel with salmon cream cheese and a Vanilla Hazelnut coffee with splenda and cream is a wonderful midday pick-me-up. I love their unflavored coffee as well. If you’re a stickler for piping hot fresh coffee, you may occasionally be disappointed. But overall they’re fine. My only complaint is that, by lunch time, they replace their dairy carafes. I often have to ask for half and half, and they refill the same one, which is not very sanitary(former Starbucks employee).

A long time ago(at least 12 years), an Einstein’s came to Batavia(I think it was that town) and I fell in LOVE with their Veggie Delight bagel sandwich! I liked the sesame seed bagel, the cream cheese shmear(cute name, right?!), the spouts, cucumbers, and whatever else was on that delicious creation! Fast Forward to current day when I realized that THIS Einstein’s is around the corner from one of my haunts. Then I swiped two Einstein coupons from M(I knew she wasn’t going to use them for herself). I treated myself on two separate days. Each time I got the same thing: a Veggie Delight bagel sandwich, and apple, and a pickle. The pickle was tasty, but wilted. This location is fairly clean and the employees are courteous. Once I ate my sandwich there and the other time I took it to go. I can’t say that the dining experience was that incredible or anything. I was by myself and had nothing to look at. No TV and nothing to read. I looked at the menu and noticed that my sandwich isn’t on the menu but appreciated that the employees had no problems making it for me or charging me for it. Although I once was in love with Einstein’s, I can’t say that flame burns strong anymore. The sandwich was good, but I doubt that I will ever be a regular.

DISGUSTING!!! I’ve been passing by this chain’s stores for 2 years now and today I finally got around to trying this store. I paid $ 3.88 for 2 bagels and both of them were very raw on the inside even though they looked normal on the outside. Unfortunately I was home, an hour away, before I discovered I’d been sold raw dough so they don’t have to worry about me coming back for a well deserved refund. By raw I’m not meaning a little undercooked I’m talking about COMPLETELYRAW dough inside(not like very moist and chewy, but as raw as it was in the mixer before it was shaped into bagels) like the interior had never had even the slightest bit of heat reach it. I guess the only thing that keeps me from totally getting irate about it is that I’ve never heard of anybody getting food poisoning from completely raw bread dough so I guess these people won’t kill anybody with uncooked products. I’ll never step inside another one of their stores after this experience. I hate McDonalds restaurants(which there is one only about a half block away right on Wells, go there instead), but to be truthfull I’d stop at McDonalds and get one of their rubbery and tasteless bagels they use in breakfast sandwiches before I’d ever return here. At least McDonalds uses cooked bagels. You’d think if a fast food chain can sell cooked bagels then a bagel shop should certainly be able to. If this is how they do business they really need to shut down their chain and stop embarassing themselves and ripping off paying customers! They don’t even deserve the one star I’ve given them, but unfortunately here on Unilocal everybody gets at least one star no matter how disgusting they are. I have contacted the company at their corporate website and have reported this store and I hope others who are also experiencing problems at this or other of their stores will go to their website and use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the webpage to report this place. Maybe if enough of us complain they will fix the problems.
