These food carts serve only one thing, and it’s not for everybody. If you speak Spanish, the name of the food cart tells you what that one thing is! For those of you that don’t, El Becerrito serves tacos made of meat that comes from slow-braising a cow’s head. While it may not exactly be considered as «offal», the meat from the cow’s cheek and in between the bones is gelatinous and succulent. It is is removed from the bone, then served on a steamed tortilla with your choice of cilantro, onions, jalapeños & salsas. No menu. No choices. Head Tacoss. That’s it Stand under the awning and eat on the street, or take it to go wrapped in aluminum foil. Simple & delicious. One cart is on N. Clark St at the corder of Ainslie. The other is on the east side of Western Ave btw Glenlake & Granville. I see them by 9:30am and they are usually gone by 2pm. I don’t recall seeing either truck on the weekend days, so am assuming they are there Mon– Fri.
