Taqueria El Ranchito is the worst f****** restaurant I’ve ever had to deal with. It’s been 4 hours since I called about a missing item I got the runaround from them saying I will send it will send it it’s taken me calling them 3 times and finally speaking to someone in GrubHub before I actually got my missing items on top of that I had to threaten to call the cops before somebody actually came this restaurant blows ass like a lot of f****** ass. And their food is f****** disgusting never again will I try to order from them and I suggest you don’t either how they took care of business is a disgrace

If I could only give 0 stars. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The girl who put my order together forgot my horchata ($ 3.75) so I asked to have it re-​delivered. She told me, «We can’t just deliver horchata.» I told her it’s not a separate order since she admitted to botching the order in the first place! She offered to give me credit for my next order since I paid cash. What next order?! You think I’m going to order again after this HORRIBLE customer service? I asked to speak to the manager and she absolutely refused and finally just hung up. I’m reasonable. I would’ve let it go if the drink cost less than a couple bucks. This girl basically just robbed me of my money. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. They don’t appreciate their customers!!!

I stopped in for lunch and was immediately served. The waitress provided a menu that offered a wide variety of international and domestic dishes to choose from, but my heart was already set on a burrito. Well within ten minutes of placing the order, my food arrived.
I got the carne asada burrito: the steak was well seasoned and there was a generous amount of it, but not so much to overpower the fresh veggies and the cheese. A very nice portion for the price. I past out within an hour from all that good eating.
I totally recommend coming here as a starter for the evening’s activities, or as an after hours spot for some comfort food.

Poor Customer service… wouldn’t recommend this place. They could see you waiting in the table to get a menu and would atop by after like ten minutes. Food wasn’t great. Nothing that impressed. Sure won’t be coming back.

I loved this place because there was lots of food options to choose from. Food and service was excellent also was very grateful that it was open 24 hours! The prices were reasonable for big portions of food. Will be coming back!

I usually am happy with this place, but today they messed up my order did not deliver the correct portion they said I was billed for. I called very nicely as I too am in the service industry. My food arrives and they charge me again. After speaking to the manager he told me to give the food back and hung up on me NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN!

I mean, the food took ten years to come but that’s always the case with this place. With the expectation of 60 – 90 minutes you will be less disappointed.
The only thing I ever really get from here are the vegetarian (bean) salsa verde chilaquiles with sunny side up egg and they are always delicious. Well not always. Sometimes they are waaaay too spicy, like inedible spicy. But this time, they made them just as I asked. I order them vegetarian by the way because I just can’t trust the meat here. It’s almost always disgusting gristly meat. The carne asada is grey and fatty and unseasoned, the chicken bland and off tasting, and the carnitas are the only thing close to good but sometimes have hunks of fat or bone. Blech.
The reason I leave 2 stars instead of 4 or 5 is it wasn’t insanely delicious and it arrived lukewarm. But not terrible.

I had the crab cake and it was horrible! It was very mushy like mashed potatoes. It had no flavor, and it also came very cold. I called the restaurant and asked could I exchange it for something else and he said no. Then I ask for my money back and he said no again. He said they will come get it, but they will not give me my money back or give me something else. Then I said OK I will just write a very bad review about this horrible food, then he told me OK go ahead! People!!! Do not buy from this restaurant!!! I ordered from here years ago and it was horrible, but I thought I’d give them a try again because I was hungry and it was super late and they were almost the only thing open. Big mistake!

Don’t listen to the haters who ordered from grub hub and were disappointed about their cold burrito.

Get the steak and eggs and eggs con chorizo. Order a horchata, coffee and a few Coronas and you’ll leave happy!

Alright, let’s be honest guys. This place sucks. 17 of the last 20 reviews are 2 stars or less, if that doesn’t tell you enough and you want to continue reading one more bad experience (this one from a guy who has had a few too many, being reviewed at 3am) then carry on reading, or skip to the last paragraph for the summary.
First of all, this place is weird. Their menu is all over the place. I half-​drunkenly typed «burrito» into my grubhub at about 1:30 in the morning, and this was 1 of 2 places open, and it was closer so I chose it.
They have pizza and burritos and sub sandwiches and burgers and cheese fries and seafood and pasta and. maybe they figure if they serve 20 different cuisines they’ll have one that is alright.
OK maybe that’s a little harsh (it’s not), but here we go with the actual review. I got some time so I’m going to go a little bit in to every thing I ordered:
Well start with the coffee I ordered (yes I drunkenly ordered coffee at 1:30 in the morning from a «Mexican» joint, get off my back): I didn’t expect much. I drink my coffee black. This coffee is worse than your standard IHOP/Denny’s coffee. It’s worse than coffee you’ll get at most gas stations. It’s bad coffee. The weirdest thing is it came with coffee creamer that was «For Good Coffee» brand with a heart on it that proudly states it has no tropical oils. Not knowing what tropical oils were, a quick google search brought me to a 1992 article explaining it’s coconut oil. Not knowing anything about coconut oil I did another google search and found tons of things telling me how it’s good for my hair, my eyes, my skin, my heart, and everything else on my body. If I didn’t drink my coffee black, it sounds like I might want some tropical oils in my creamer. ²⁄₁₀
Elote: Corn in a styrofoam cup with mayo and ground red pepper, has more zing than cayenne, must be ground arbol you can get at any Mexican mart. Gross, but kudos for the extra spice. ³⁄₁₀
Steak Burrito: My burrito was half empty. Like literally over an inch of air between the fillings and the tortilla. Also, the steak was oddly grey and very fatty/​gristly with next to no flavor whatsoever. Very shady meat, zero cheese even though I asked for extra (they did leave the lettuce and beans off like I asked). ²⁄₁₀
Cheese Fries: Fries had no salt and were soggy, cheese was of the 7 – 11 variety but watered down a little more plastic-​y. But they were cheese fries and were maybe edible. ⁴⁄₁₀
Free tamale: Somewhere around ¹⁄₃ or ½ the meat you’d expect in a tamale, but tasted pretty good. Nothing wrong here, more meat and it would have been good instead of dry. ⁶⁄₁₀
Hot Sauce: Red ‘n Green. Good ‘ol red and green. This is so close to being a redeeming quality for them… their red sauce is damn good. Like seriously it’s pretty good and could compete with most burrito joint’s sauces. Spicy courtesy of pequin peppers. Good consistency. Just all around good. ⁸⁄₁₀ red.
Their green sauce though was awful. It had next to no spice whatsoever, was very warm. like temperature-​wise warm. Like it was microwaved or something, and had just a totally strange taste… AND I’M A VERDE MAN! A damn shame. It was oddly thick and kind of curdled or something. Just bad. 2/​10, average of ¹⁰⁄₂₀ or… ⁵⁄₁₀
Conclusion!!!: I’m drunk and took the time to write a review, that should tell you something. My «numbers» above come out to 22/​60, or a 37%, a hard F. Especially considering their prices weren’t awesome and their delivery was average at best, and I have no idea why I’m giving them the 2^nd star. Beer goggles I guess.
Pro: They have a huge menu. Con: Of 6 items I tried, 6 items were bad.
Pro: They’re open all the time and deliver. Con: See above, not worth eating.
Pro… well, there aren’t any more pros. They’re always open, they’re always delivering, and they have a huge menu. Some of the shit they pass off as food may be very VERY good, but everything I tried was very nasty. I wouldn’t and won’t be ordering for delivery again, and am confident that if I ever stop in it will be at least 6 months from now. Better options everywhere. If you’re starving, go to a quickie mart and grab a bag of chips and save yourself the money and heartache of eating food from this place.

Their food is pretty delicious. I’ve ordered tacos, burritos, and tortas here without being disappointed. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is their shakes. I ordered a banana shake and it was basically a banana blended with ice, and it wasn’t even blended until smooth. Ice chunks galore.
My issue with this place is their delivery. Every single time I have ordered from here, it has taken over an hour to receive my food. No matter the time of day, or kind of weather. It’s a little ridiculous and I can see now that it’s an issue everyone has. I’m straight east on Diversey and a couple blocks north. I could walk there faster than they can drive. It’s that and they never seem to use the buzzer outside my apartment. I don’t understand the issue with that, either. It’s not a difficult thing to do.

So I placed an order at 8:03 and its is now 9:14. When I called for a status update, I was placed on hold then was asked how could they help me. I asked for a status update again and he asked for my address and then said it should be there in a few minutes. When I started to tell him I hope it wasn’t going to be cold, he hung up on me.
So no tip for the driver. No business for this company from me any longer. It’s a shame because I really love their chilequlies
Oh well! An hour and a half wait is too long for anyone.
We’re going to TBK down the block instead.

Food was delivered cold, not cool. COLD
Called them absolutely nothing done to correct the cold food nor forgotten items.
Do not even try them!

If you order delivery it will take 60 – 90 minutes, so if you are hungry just walk some place and pick up your food.
Second, the food is okay, but read the menus very closely, because it’s easy to order something and get an item very different from what you expected. Read the lines describing which meat or ingredients are used, because the name of the item is often misleading.
Third, the food is alright, but doesn’t win any awards.

Poor delivery, took over an hour and I’m two blocks away, and when I called the phone guy aka manager to tell him he hung up on me!!!
We are all hungry fell sleep on empty stomach’s!!!
I or for delivery since it’s not safe to walk in the neighborhood at night, and I don’t like their bathrooms there extremely dirty.

So this place…
I really could write a novel about my negative experience with this restaurant but I’ll try and keep it short.
Ordered through Grub hub the first time here, placed our order at about 12:30am and it estimated an hour… we didn’t get our food till 3:15am. I called the restaurant 2 times, was told it was a couple minutes away both times then hung up on.
When the delivery driver got there he told me some story about why he was late, basically trying to make me feel bad that our food was two hours late… not ok.
Our nachos were cold but had good flavor, same with the tacos. Actually really delicious but again, when you’re food is 2.5 hours late nothing really tastes good anymore.
So I finally get a hold of a manager about 3 days later after calling the restaurant every day to try and speak to one. He calls me personally and promises me a free meal at 6pm the next week when I was back in the area.
He was very professional and I thanked him for taking the time to make contact with me. I wasn’t even asking for anything free, I was just frustrated and wanted to vent. He kept assuring me it was because I went through Grub Hub and they have miscommunication sometimes.
He confirmed with me the night before I was back in town that 6pm still worked for the food to get there. I waited in the lobby at 6pm for about 15 minutes then went upstairs. Our food did not get there till 7:45pm. Like is this a joke? Traffic is not an excuse and I looked it up anyway and it was only 20 minutes away.
I’ll never be ordering from here again. I don’t recommend you do either. I really thought the manager was going to try and make this better because I really hate writing negative reviews but this was ridiculous. I was adamant about being there by 6pm for my food because it’s rude to make people wait for you right? Guess they didn’t get that memo, and clearly it wasn’t a Grub Hub issue. I spoke directly to the manager and my food was still almost 2 hours late.

Worst jibarrito I have EVER had… EVER. My bf warned me. What is disappointing is that I ordered it a week or so ago and it was perfect they even had arroz con gandules that had amazing flavor.
This time it was a sad sack of grease. Huge gross chunks of onion all in one spot, mayo gobbed all over the place, advertises with tomato there is none to be found. Asked for rice instead of fries (hoping for the rice that was so delicious) still got fries that were soggy and nasty tasting. The worst thing of all … The plantain is suppose to be somewhat crispy acting as a bun or sorts… And this is just a sad limp whiskey dick attempt. Seriously you try to pick it up it just flops like a wet noodle. I was so put off by the taste I actually called grub hub and asked for a refund. Only on that part.
They have decent tomales, BF liked their flan, and their pico/​guac was on point.
Oh and if they don’t like a particular neighborhood they will yell into the phone in an annoyed/​rude tone that they are there. It’s not a great neighborhood I’ll admit but it’s 3pm bright and sunny and we came down promptly when called.
I will never order from here again. I only wish I had seen prior reviews before I ordered.
Thanks to grub hub for getting my $ 8.99 back for the sack of sadness. I didn’t mind paying for the other items as we actually ate those.

Ordered 3 items for delivery and all were terrible:
Too much breading on the shrimp, which held in the greasy oil and the flavor of the shrimp was lost.
The calzone had maybe ¼ cup cheese and 3 tablespoons of sauce with 7 tiny pepperoni slices– it was mainly packed with air.
The 2 pieces of fried chicken were soggy– not crispy at all.
I called to talk to the manager because my side salad with vinegar & order of coleslaw were forgotten with the delivery– 57 minutes after that call was placed, I received my ½ cup side salad– (I measured it) and still no coleslaw. When I asked where the coleslaw was (that was supposed to come with the ‘fried chicken’ I was told it was no longer available as an option– yet there was nothing available for a replacement. Also, the manager told me he would replace the calzone but the driver showed up with out it. Then when I called back, the manager told me he would charge me extra for a new one. I already was waiting for over an hour and the original one dried out 40 minutes ago. What a waste of time and money!
The only Decent item from this $ 30.97 order was the side of broccoli…
I will never order from this place again.

First of all, look at my pic of their «deep dish» pizza. It’s literally a thin crust pizza and the edges are just high.
Ordered through grub hub. Came on time but we barely even warm. Ordered a can of soda. Came in a Styrofoam cup, which the delivery driver has laying on its side, so half of it had spilled out, soaked the napkins, straw was bent, and it was all over my pizza box. How do you lay a Styrofoam cup with soda in it on its side?!
In my grub hub order, under directions, I said to not call my cell, and instead use the intercom at the front of my building. Instead, he called my cell. I explained that I wrote in the directions about the intercom. He then hung up on me. I looked out the window and saw him sitting in his car with blinkers on in front of building. I waited maybe 4 min. I called the number back, no answer. So I went outside and he then came out of his car and gave me my order. Ridiculous!
Plus the pizza was just bad. Not cheesy at all, just over done, gross! Terrible experience!

Peor servicio de delivery de comida. Mi orden estaba 2 horas tarde y la gente del restaurante no le importo. Nunca mas.

He pedido un burrito de carne asada, para empezar la carne de muy mala calidad tenia mucha grasa, no solo eso al burrito le salia grasa por todos lados, horrible. I will never come back!
