I’ve been going to Michael for over twelve years. He’s amazingly talented, and I trust him implicitly– I usually let him do whatever he wants and he’s never disappointed me with my cut and color. The salon is a friendly and relaxed neighborhood place.

Michael is the stylist on whom you may cheat but you will always return. One cut, two cuts, 10 cuts somewhere else because they are closer to home.
In the end you will end up with a horrible mess and go crawling back to him. He will always take you back and won’t even make you beg.
You will walk out with a flattering cut that grows out well and looks good whether or not you spend time on it.
I’ve strayed twice now because I live across the street from another slain but never ever again…

After getting so many horrible haircuts in Chicago, Jay Jay finally gave me a GREAT cut… Highly recommend going to him!

Ask for Jay Jay. He always does a great job with my hair. Always open to try new styles and is honest about his opinion and expertise. He does a lot of hair shows and print work so I trust his opinion. Super cool guy to chat with during a cut as well!

I saw Carrie for a UV free all organic spray tan through a Living Social deal. I’ve never done it and it was last minute, so I was pretty psyched she could fit me in and was really helpful in guiding me through the process. It’s actually a good deal if you don’t want to use chemicals or lay in a tanning bed. Anyway, Carrie was really professional and explained how it worked and recommended a level 8 for me that turned out looking perfect. I was really happy with the service and will def be back for another at full price when I need it.

Christine is the absolute best. She always does a great job on my medium length, blonde, highlighted hair. I also find that Fases is not as expensive as some other salons I have been to in Chicago and the quality is excellent.

JJ is my guy! I regularly get complimented on my hair and people make sure to point out that they like the cut! I recently tried a new color/​highlights and loved it!
The staff are always friendly and super sweet.

Love this place and love how Victor cuts & styles my hair. Prices are reasonable, easy scheduling.

I’m incredibly hard to please when it comes to haircuts; Victor is the first stylist who has ever given me a cut I was 100% happy with! I’ve been coming here for about a year, and on my first visit, he took tons of care attending to every detail and making sure he got my hair exactly the way I wanted it. Now he’s keeping it looking great as I grow it out (no easy feat). Not only does he go the extra mile on my hair, he is pleasant to chat with, always remembers how long it’s been since I came in, remembers things I told him last time I was there, etc… Even though I recently moved and it’s now harder to get to Fases, I am still going there and will continue to as long as I am in Chicago.

I have been going to Fases for the last two years on a regular basis. I have consistently been receiving tremendous haircuts with along with fantastic service. Victor is great at his work and truly cares about every single person that walks in through his front door. This is the best salon I have ever been to over the course of my 28 years and I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I highly recommend Fases! Keep doing great you guys!

HELP! Where is Tania??? She is the absolute BEST stylist, the woman is absolutely amazing!!! I have never trusted a stylist like I can trust Tania. Due to moving out of state I haven’t seen her since 2007 and I desperately need a good haircut. No one can compare to her technique and expertise.
Please, someone tell me where I can find her?

went there for the first time yesterday and got a shoulder-​length cut with Victor: couldnt be happier. I have lived in Chicago for almost 6 years and this is seriously the best haircut i have had at any price point, PLUS it’s about half the cost of haircuts in the Gold Coast (where I live)!! I have dry blond hair with some breakage issues and he blended it all so well, my hair looks healthy and bouncy because of what he did with it.
Again absolutely LOVE my haircut from Victor, I will recommend him and definitely be back!

Punched my Man-​Card today at Fases with a Hot lather, straight razor shave by Luis «Magic Hands» Lopez. awesome! This is the same guy that worked at 900 n Mich for years and shaved Mayor Daley, Bill Daley, Obama and Mr Cub Ernie Banks (every Monday). The first «Shave is free» by the way! Ask for a Face, Head and Shoulder massage after the shave and you’ll be in «Man Heaven» (Ladies — This is a great gift certificate idea for the man in your life! He will love it… and you too :)

A friend recommended me to Jeffrey Benthusen at Fases, but when I called I was told he was away and unanavailable. I tried again later and was again told he was unavailable.
I told my friend Mary what I had been told, and she informed me that Jeffrey left there a little while ago, and is now working at a place called Carbon Hair Salon, on Halsted.
I don’t like being lied to — if someone doesn’t work there anymore, say he’s no longer there, and that’s it.

I have been coming here for a while to get my facials from Norma. She is Wonderful! I love the facials she gives me, i had so many facial skin problems like acne, dark spots and acne scars. Since i have been getting my facials there my skin has improved so much! Not only that but she gives me a mini arm and hand massage while i have my custom facial mask under steam. I’m very happy with their service and they are very nice and flexible.

Four months ago I went to Tonia and not only did she not listen to me, but I got charged to walk out the door with red hair when I asked for blond and she cut four inches off my hair and gave me a «Rachel» cut when I asked for a trim. I have several coworkers that go to her and if you have short hair she appears to be great. Do not go to her if you want someone that listens or cares what you want. I just went to Sine Qua Non and got exactly what I asked for with no attitude.

I am a guy with a pretty basic haircut (see photo) but I have been happily coming to Fases to see Tania for almost five years.
The cost is very reasonable and everyone who works there is friendly and accommodating.

May be this rating is partly my fault because of what I wanted. I wanted a Sophitia (from Soul Caliber) look with completely bleached white hair and purple ends.
For $ 200 I wound up with a severely burnt scalp and hair so stripped, nothing stuck to it color wise. The stylist attempted for blue, but it washed right out, about a week later I was able to add some red and other colors, but it wasn’t what I had wanted.
Of course, add the fact that the stylist kept explaining to me how dangerous the chemicals in the US are compared to where she is from — I guess they ban alot of hazardous stuff overseas.
And it never turns out good when they tell you that if they only had better product like at home, your hair would turn out great.
Well, at least they will attempt things that Mario’s won’t.
