It’s not situated in the most welcoming of areas. And not because it’s in Englewood, it’s because there’s a liquor store and a currency exchange next door and across the street that attracts cigarette hustlers, drunks, substance abusers, and the works. The restaurant also allows these crowds to co-mingle inside the place, which doesn’t help to attract new customers. I had a gyro cheeseburger, which I would give 8 stars out of 10. But not really excited about going back and trying new things, because of the type of crowd that lingers in and around the place.

For some reason was craving Italian Beef and Gyros; in the past Fat Albert’s was pretty good. Something is terribly wrong now. The Italian beef was tasteless and dry despite being dipped; the gyros had brown lettuces on it and a bad taste. Only good thing was the fries which come in a paper bag drenched in ketchup and eaten with a fork. Plus, there were flies everywhere. Yuck.

all I’m saying is the gyros and Italian beefs are the best the other food i haven’t tried i stick to what i know as far as wanting to get out your car to go in and get the food i usually don’t my husband always and i mean always go there and pick up the food there is way and i mean way to much traffic and people begging and people hanging out in front of the restaurant and currency exchange and its a bit scary i say if they wanted to attract attention to the restaurant they need to solve the problems they have hanging in and around the restaurant the corner and the currency exchange cause obviously the police aren’t doing anything about it.

I went here last night for gyros since my boyfriend was craving one and I never thought I would have eaten something so bad in my life. I have had a lot better food than a hole in the wall place like this one. Not to mention they don’t have an open counter it’s closed off with bank teller and fast food revolving windows. I mean look at the neighborhood they’re situated in… Englewood isnt exactly Lincoln Park with the constant police prescence and the endless lingering of hoodrats and thugs on the corner congregating in front of the currency exchange and the liquor store across the street. I don’t even eat in places like this I’ve seen much better establishments that are not a quick snack shop for the neighborhood rodents who come in when the weather’s bad waiting on the bus or just taking their hoodrat girlfriend or thug boyfriend out for a bite to eat. The girl who took my order didnt even use a real order pad she wrote down what I was having on the paper bag that the food was packed in. The way the girl talked to the customers just spelled out hoodrat and the customers clearly were thugs and hoodrats since that’s the kind of clientele they served. I’ve had a lot better than this place and they were very cheap with the way the gyros was put together skimping on the cucumber sauce and the veggies. Authentic gyros has much more stuff on them and greektown has better places and even other areas of the city. I wouldnt bother with this place and if you like mediocre ghetto service and mediocre food then this is your spot, but it’s not my spot I’ve had better than ghetto hole in the wall fast food places.
