Fatso’s is the guiltiest of pleasures. Tried their mac and cheese the other day and it’s surprisingly good. Still the best place to get a char-dog, and that’s in a city with a million little hamburger/hotdog joints. Service and food quality has been steadily improving over the years and looks like they are expanding. Keep it up!

I’m about to make a bold statement but its true — I enjoyed this burger far more than the one I had at Au Cheval last weekend. I’m dead serious. This burger was totally amazing. So juicy and flavorful! I didn’t want it to end. The staff is also beyond friendly. The manager on duty, Jack, was so awesome to me and made the experience even better This place rules — I’ll definitely be back!

No wonder everyone reccomends this place to me. Amazing tasty food and the service is so welcoming and friendly! Can’t wait to eat here again. Thank you!

Good keeps on getting better at Fatso’s! When we moved to the neighborhood last year, we quickly learned how good the Chicago-style char dogs were! Recently, I liked their Facebook page and learned about some new menu items, including the Ah-Mazing Fatso Smash! It’s not on the menu yet, but the friendly staff was gently suggesting it to nearly everyone who walked in when we were there this week. Do yourself a favor and try the Smash — juicy, flattop-grilled excellence. I don’t even like mayo, which I think is part of the secret Fatso sauce on the burgers, but the sauce really brings out the burger-y flavor, don’t skip it! Anxiously awaiting the new Fatso shakes… with the rest of the neighborhood.

I visited Fatso’s for the first time recently. I was visiting Chitown from Oregon. I usually am a pretty angry guy, however, when I took the first bite of my burger at Fatso’s I became a happy guy. The burger made me a happy guy for the rest of the day. I miss you, Fatso’s xoxo.

I was skeptical of any veggie dog that would come out of such a meat heavy place. Glad I tried because it is THEBEST veggie dog I have ever had and I’ve been a vegetarian for over 5 years. The fried pickles are also so delish. Grateful that I live right next to it. Yum.

Wow! This little hot dog stand has quite a personality! Their burgers are only slightly above average, but the experience inside this crammed hut-for-a-business makes it all worthwhile. Honestly, if you like me have grown bored of warehouse-like businesses or cookie-cutter-named burger franchises, definitely give this place a go! You will not be disappointed.

God bless Fatso’s Last Stand. This is so much more than just great late night drunk food, but yes, it’s also that. Before actually trying Fatso’s for myself, I heard how good their shrimp po’boy was. I was skeptical, but everyone was right: worth all the hype! It’s cash only, which sucks and gets me every time, but the prices are cheap so I can’t complain too much. This is fried food at its finest.

It wasn’t what I expected. I go to Brown’s Lounge across the street so I’ve eyed the spot a few times. I read the reviews on here and bookmarked it to try. Since I was near it I stopped in. Employees are nice and friendly, took my order promptly: a charred polish w/onions, mustard, & sport peppers/single fatso burger w/onions, mustard, pickles and a fry proceeded to fix it. Everything was correct except she didn’t give me a fry w/the burger. Then she charged me 2 bucks for a regular order of fries. Polish was just-OK. It seemed to be steamed and then put on the broiler for effects. Was cooked by being charred unfortunately. Same thing w/my moms hot dog, she was impressed and said it was steam cooked. The burger wasn’t fresh ground beef it was a frozen patty of meat. I hate those types of burgers. It too was just OK. The fries were GREAT! They were fresh cut and fresh. I probably wouldn’t go back, I’m not in the area much & it wasn’t worth me driving from my hood to theirs.

Honestly l have frequent the place probably 20+ times in 2 years. Every time l come in l ask for Jardinera peppers and the answer is nope, dont have. They had them at first, but now they never do. Is a bummer everything is better with hot jardinera. The burgers alone are good but the bread is often cold and stiff, the mac and cheese is pretty good(when served hot) but the fries are

Food is not that great They only take cash And when I order the guy was very rude because he was hurrying me up I was not even in line to start I was looking at the menu Me and my friend order and When we got out food my bacon was not bacon it was so fake bread was cold and we both got left over fires that are the last on the bag the small pieces so not worth it

Such indulgent food with their char dogs, burgers and polish sausage, I can never have too much of these. But of course my body disagrees as it can only metabolize so much food. Nonetheless, I do indulge this place from time to time, and I have to say, everything in their menu is good! Quality ‘fast food’ at their best. My favorite item has to be the Po Boys. I’ve been to NOLA and had some good Po Boys, but their combination of the shrimp along with other ingredients really makes the sandwich a standout!

This is really 3.5 stars, but we’ll round up because they’re so cool. Chicago dogs here are outstanding. The double is probably the way to go, but the traditional dog is plenty good. The Fatso burger is fine. Decent but forgettable. Stick with the dogs.

Great burger. Not really like in and out. In and out is a fresh and clean environment, this place probably isn’t subject to the quality controls of the in and out franchise, but you cannot complain about the burger itself. It was good.

A tasty greasy spoon; clean, nice staff, char grilled tasty burgers, kick ass fries enough to split and the option of trying to eat a five pound burger, provided you give them at least a day or two notice to order the special bun. Looking forward to another burger, gosh, I’m getting hungry thinking about those burgers doing my write up!

200th review. Fitting. It was heaven. A cheap burger almost of Five Guys, In-n-out, Shake Shack quality but it was greasy, real, and in an equally perfect location. Char-dog. Speechless. It was perfect. Just everything. Ok, so it was Halloween and I was drunk, but I just couldn’t imagine anything else being better. It was pure bliss. Plus the guy serving us was just hilarious and unbelievably accommodating. This is how service should be. I’ll definitely be back.

The best shrimp I’ve ever had. Seriously. I’ve been to shrimp joints/shacks/huts/kegs/etc from the south side to evanston and Fatso’s reigns supreme. The breading is crispy and sweet, and the shrimpy innards are perfect. This is the fried shrimp you want. I can’t speak to the rest of the menu(the wife loved their mac and cheese) because i simply don’t care– this little burger stand with the silly name is the the place to get fried shrimp.

A great classic Chicago dog stand. Say no more. Charbroiled done right. Been coming here for 3 years and have never been let down. I haven’t ventured away from the dog, polish, burger(fries are delish too, FYI) order yet mainly because I haven’t found a need or desire too. I understand their fried shrimp and fried sausage is really good too. Oh, I have had the Italian ice and that adds a nice finishing touch to any meal. If you live in UV and aren’t vegetarian, why haven’t you been here and if you don’t live here, you get to have a dog and check out two of the grandest churches in Chicago right next door– St. Nicholas and Saints Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Churches. Cheaper than a trip to Europe!

I literally walked a mile to get to this place on a cold Chicago Morning. I was on a mission to get a Chicago dog and this place was the place for me. How can it not be with its name?! Immediately when I walked in, I was greeted by one of the workers with a happy Good Morning!(yes I got a hot dog at 10:30am). The place is quaint with seating inside and outside. I got the Char dog with fries, Chicago style. Came with tomatoes, pickles, onions, relish and sport pepper from what I can see. Amazing combination. Everything proportioned nicely, tomatoes weren’t too thick, pickles weren’t too thin. The bun had poppy seed which was a nice touch and was strong enough to hold the great toppings. The best part was the hot dog itself. Nice initial chew when taking your first bite and juicy and soft on the inside. I wish I had more time to try their mac and cheese and fried shrimp. Next time Fatso, next time.

Had the Fatso double burger– it was OK– I would compare it to In-N-Out.Just the burger with tax was over seven bucks– a bit pricy for what it was. My first visit, next time I will have a char-dog which looked good on the fire as I was watching the burger cook. A big plus in my book, they have a parking lot in the back, and a nice outdoor seating area when the weather is good enough for that.

Ok, I promise I will get to the detail of my visit at Fatso’s Last stand, but I’ve got some story to share. Rosa J. watched a documentary on capital punishments. There was a segment that talked about the prisoner’s request for his/her last meal. I found it interesting because lots of death-row inmates would request cheeseburgers with fries. Well, I totally would do the same, except I don’t want to be imprisoned and sentenced to death for any reason. Ok, sorry for digressing, though I felt that introductory paragraph was somewhat applicable to how much I love Fatso’s double cheeseburger. I typically ask for grilled onions because I think the grilling smell is super appetizing! This burger is juicy, gooey, delicious, and satisfying! Fatso’s employees are also remarkably charming and engaging. I make a point to withdraw cash in order to have Fatso’s burgers and their fried shrimps! Speaking of shrimps, for some reason I didn’t see the shrimps by the pound on the menu at Fatso’s, but knew it since I frequent their sister location(Frank Meats Patty), on Roscoe and California in Avondale. Fatso’s isn’t a difficult place to get to: CTA #66(Chicago) bus provides the access. Chicago/Oakley is your stop.
