Fifth Third Bank

The worst service ever. Their systems are perpetually down, they are understaffed and the personnel that are onsite are slow and seemingly unconcerned with their customers. AWFUL. Unless you have 2 hours to conduct simple banking transactions, this is not the place for you. And, if you are planning on sending money via Western Union OMG forget it! Do yourself a huge favour and just go to one of the Walgreens locations in the area, beleive me you’ll fare much better.

Fifth 3^rd is the worst bank in this city, do not try to refinance with them,
my loan is a simple 35% loan to value refinance. My income, credit and value are great, but all I get is BS answers and it’s been over 2 months, this company is sad, stay away from all the branches.
Empty promises and now I need to pay for another appraisal with a
new company, ver y very sad, this is a poor service lender.

Having worked for this bank in the past (no…I’m not bitter *wink*) I’ve found that they continue to suffer the ability to create both good customer service or consistent results from customers request. Though I worked on the Corporate and Investment side, the Retail side is in need to some real help. Throughout Chicago (no less than 4 other locations) they have continued to provide horrible service and many act clueless about things just above simple requests with regards to complexity.
Perhaps that is why their stock is in the gutter. Banking is all about being a «people business» but at this branch, as others, junior tellers were unable to answer a basic question I’ve been trying to get resolved for over a month. With the job market getting worse, one would think they’d have a good pool to pull from from a resource perspective, but their personnel continues to be subpar.
Branches though are well kept, mainly due to a recent «rebranding effort» across the entire footprint which costs millions to implement to bad they didn’t apply those funds to training *evil grin*.
They also penalize customers with fees for certain loans and also resell many of their loans to 3^rd parties… which can be common in the industry, but I’ve always found this impersonal and makes for real headaches if you need paperwork.
For example, I was needing to change over car titles after moving to Chicago from another State… it was a nightmare… it took almost 2 weeks to get the right paperwork all the while I’m driving with expired tags… nice!
Though the Federal Government does insure your money for up to $ 100,000 per account, I’d avoid this bank if possible.
