For Eyes Optical

Chose the location based on my insurance provider.
Outdated, dirty, and not that great of service. I have never had an eye appointment last less than 10 minutes. Will definitely be searching outside my list for my next check up.

I have been buying glasses for myself and my kids here for many years, my husband buys his glasses here as well. The experience has always been fine until the very end. They really drop the ball when it comes to calling to let you know that your glasses have arrived. I lost my only pair of glasses and was anxious to get the new ones. After wondering why they weren’t in yet, I called on a Wednesday and the woman who answered said,” one pair is in, and we expect the 2^nd pair to arrive Saturday. I assume you want to wait until both pairs hare in”. I live less than 5 minutes away and I am without any glasses (which I need for both reading and driving). Why in the world would I wait for both pairs, and why would they assume that? The customer should be notified and the decision theirs if they want to make one trip or two. Before I called, my husband said he would bet money they are there. He was right, because every time we order glasses here the same thing happens. We finally call and are told that the glasses «just arrived that day and they were getting ready to call». That works the first time, but gets old fast after hearing it multiple times.

I have a stigmatism so I usually have to waita week or more just to get samples then go back to get my prescription which meant copay plus copay etc. This was a pleasant change of pace, quick, accurate, friendly, definitely recommend! !

Stephanie was very helpful in helping me pick out frames that looked great and was affordable in conjunction with my Groupon. $ 120 total is not that bad and i’m getting tons of compliments!
Only things is, they only notify you by email when your glasses are ready. As my email address was entered incorrectly I had to eventually call them. Hardly the end of the world but a call when things come in might be more efficient.

I went here this past weekend and had a great experience. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly and there was no wait, which was surprising and refreshing at the same time.
Dr. Lee was very personable and efficient with my needs during both, the eye exam and contact lens fitting. Dr. Lee was thorough in examining my eyes and very helpful in answering my questions.
I was so happy with my experience here that I decided to buy a 6 month supply of contact lenses and a very nice pair of eyeglasses. Denita, one of the eye glass technicians was absolutely fantastic and helped me chose just the right pair of eyeglasses for my frame :-) I would definitely go back here in a heart beat. No hassle and definitely not the ugly attitude of other VSP providers who are literally trying to steal your wallet/​pocketbok with false pretenses and fake smiles.

I recently had a great experience at For Eyes on Clybourn.
Now I will be honest, I debated whether to give them 4 stars or 5. I went with 5. Here’s why… I tried to think about what I would change about my experiences to make them better, and couldn’t think of anything. I think that’s a 5 and not a 4 if there was nothing I would change. I thought maybe more frames, but then again, they don’t have a ton of the old school stuff that I’ve seen in most places, heck we don’t buy that stuff anymore.
Now I’ve been wearing contacts since the late 80’s, always hated glasses, and had zero store loyalty when it came to eye exams and everything else. So I honestly can’t remember all the places I went to prior to 2010.
But in 2010 I went to this For Eyes. Had an eye exam, got new glasses, got contacts. Fast forward to 12/​12, I had run out of contacts, lost my glasses I had gotten a few years ago, and worse, had a terrible eye infection in my left eye.
So a few weeks ago I stopped in, wearing my old glasses from 1996, to look at new glasses, but then ended up getting my eye checked as well. I didn’t know they could give me that kind of eye exam and then prescribe medicine… Win!
Then Beth and I looked at 7 – 8 frames and selected a set that look a bit more modern than the last, and fit great on my face.
My eye got got better but was still sensitive so I scheduled another appointment when I was picking up my glasses two days ago. Dr Lee was again extremely helpful and gave me suggestions on some OTC eye drops that have helped a ton in the last 24 hours to address the dryness I was still having in my left eye.
Now I have to say, I’m extremely pleased. Beth was great with helping me select glasses, and Dr. Lee really helped me out. Dr. Lee also just nailed my prescription, best I’ve had ever. My right eye is actually better, and my left eye a touch worse. Thanks guys, I’m a loyal customer for sure.

Went here for my yearly exam and new glasses/​contacts. The staff was very helpful and patient as i tried out numerous frames. I only wear my glasses at night, so finding a stylish pair was not as important as being more frugal (although my frames are Lucky Brand are cute to boot).
I came in and returned my original glasses within 30 days and picked out new frames, and they even threw in a new box of glasses during that visit. Great service, good selection of glasses. Highly recommend.

After my poor reviews of this location, J. Vega contacted me from corporate and I returned to the location where they happily corrected my glasses, and gave me a full refund as I refunded the cheap looking lenses. I am very happy now. Thanks Mr. Vega from corporate!!!

Two stars for their frame selection. It’s actually right on par with what you would expect, a couple cute knockoff frames and then the generic styles. I was greeted nicely and their prices looked reasonable.

I go to For Eyes because it’s always easy to get a same day or even same hour appointment.
It’s inexpensive. We got an eye exam for glasses and contacts for $ 89.00…This was after our 10% discount they gave me for not having eye insurance, but I did present my health insurance card.
I was also given an additional 20% discount on my frames. They do this for people who have blue cross/​blue shield, which I do not, but I convinced them to help me out.
I guess in this economy you can wheel and deal anything!
They have high end to basic frames to choose from and a few designer frames.
They will price match
or other companies for contacts.

I’ve had two real good experiences here. I’d agree that it’s a little expensive (especially when you add on 4 — 6 boxes of contacts and/​or get your glasses updated, as I did), but that’s why I only go back to them every 3 to 4 years. (Bad, I know.)
The first doc I saw about five years ago apparently is now at the Clark St. location, so I would recommend that place for sure. The doc that helped me last week at this location (Dawn M. Lee) was excellent — very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions — and I always have many questions…
I would recommend this place for your eyes/​eyecare needs.

Thankfully, men DO make passes at women who wear glasses, so off I went to For Eyes to pick out a new pair.
I have been shopping for glasses and contacts at For Eyes since, like, 1982. No, NOT 1992 — — 1982, like, when Pres-​o-​dent Ronald Reagan was doin’ his thang.
My vision is supermely terrible, so making sure I have appropriate eyewear is important. And guess what? The lenses needed to correct my myopia, legal blindness in one eye, AND rapidly worsening astigmatism are NOT CHEAP. They’re probably grown in some sort of underground bunker in subzero temperatures, for cry yi yi, and expecting some budget package to cover all these bells and whistles is foolish.
Plus, the doctor and opticians work collaboratively so my eye appointment and sales consulation were seamless. I was in and out in about 45 minutes after an eye exam and selecting two great new frames. The staff is professional and personable, and after offering a comprehensive range of eyewear options the opticians even suggsted I purchase the less expenisve lense treatments, which I appreciated.
I do wish they had a more fashion-​y selection of glasses, and of course schlepping back to pick up my new glasses is a bit of drag.
Overall a great experience. Nice doctor, helpful and professional staff, and kickass glasses!

Great place to go if you have an eye issue and you can’ t get in to see doctor. They will send you to another doctor if they can’t handle it. Eas to get in too.

My glasses came to $ 511 plus $ 49 for the eye exam — that’s for one pair. For that price I do expect them to speak fricken French. I agree with one of the previous reviewers. For Eyes lures you in with the cutesy television ads and discount aura but the advertised 2 pair deals are only for «single vision lenses» and select frames. If you want or need anything else – I needed (aargh) bifocals – you will pay the same or more as a neighborhood optometrist.
I felt like I got a little run around when I asked about pricing. It was like the SNL skit about airport reservations people. You ask them a simple question and they type at their keyboard for 5 minutes and then give you an answer. I got the photo coating. I asked how much more the photo coating is. I was told it is priced as a package. Nonsense. If my glasses cost X with the photo coating and Y without the photo coating, then X minus Y is the cost of the photo coating.
All in all, the service was pleasant — despite the pricing issue and the fact I felt they steer you toward the more expensive frames. The optometrist seemed good and explained everything well.

I didn’t have some of the issues the other reviewers had, but perhaps that’s because I had different expectations going in to any eye place like this at the last minute.
I needed to get into an eye doctor fast, and for not a lot of money, because I lost my last contact and my glasses broke. I called For Eyes upon the advice of other Unilocalers, and they managed to squeeze me in between some other people that afternoon. When I got there, everyone seemed really nice, helpful, and professional. I did have to wait a bit, but that was to be expected considering I was being shoehorned in. When I did see the doctor, she was very friendly and efficient – she had an especially nice almost-​singsong manner with the part of the exam where you have to choose between lenses looking at the rows of letters. Upon checking out, there was absolutely no pressure to purchase my contacts or glasses there and they gave me my prescription to do with as I pleased.
They do have a nice selection of glasses at low prices if you need to get them in person and not online. Their contacts prices are competitive and they have a «price match» policy. They are quite busy so you should take this into account when going.

Ugh. Should have known better but it’s been a while since my last visit to the eye doctor. And they lure you in with those crazy low prices, but for those of us with less than ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision (blind as a bat!) and in need of the ultra-​thin lenses, forget it. No cheaper than the boutique place down the street. Got our eyes examined by a doctor who couldn’t have had less personality (although would I want to be there on a Saturday? Probably not…), and then we were haggled by a sales person like we were on a used car lot. «I can offer you 20% off if you buy them today»… «Well, if you come back, be sure to ask for me so I can maybe still get you that deal.» I am totally serious. Bargaining for cheapo glasses??? Got our contacts («Will you be ordering a year’s supply?» Uh, no…) and bolted. And of course found later that 1800-​CONTACTS will probably be the only way to go from here on out. Only nice thing I can say about that place is that the receptionist for the exam was really nice. Blech.

Big selection of frames, and some at very low prices ($ 69). Staf were busy, though, and made me wait nearly ½ hour to get service. This was underwhelming. They were helpful, though, when they talked to me. I may go back, I was there to gauge pricing with my insurance.
