Frank C, Handyman

I called Frank for help with a few items at my rental property. He answered the phone and said he would call me back and that I should text him the information which I did. He did not call me back, so I followed up with him. He said that he’d meet me at the property at 4:00 the following day, I never heard from him so I text him to confirm. Hours later (about 4 hours after we were supposed to meet) he responded and said he got stuck on a job and would call me tomorrow. Which he didn’t. I had left work early to meet him. A few years ago I had a very similar experience with him. He is unreliable.

The sump pump in my dads townhouse was busted and we were afraid our basement would flood and damage our water heater. After calling other Big companies and getting the run around, we went to Unilocal for some emergency referrals.
I called Frank and he came out within a matter of hours. He was very patient, attentive and compassionate with my elderly father. He was honest and trustworthy and very fair with his price AND he repaired it within a matter of hours.

I called Frank on a Saturday based on two things: he had great Unilocal reviews and he actually answered his phone. Our subletters had a leaking sink that needed to be repaired ASAP to prevent further damage. Frank seemed nice on the phone and said he could come Sat or Sun, worst case Mon– he would call me to confirm a time. I didn’t hear back all weekend and called him midday Mon. He was busy and again said he’d call back. At 7:30pm I called a third time to cancel and he didn’t seem bothered that he forgot to call. I wish he would have just said he didn’t have time in the first place because the leak is three days worse and I had to start the process of finding someone all over again this evening. So maybe Frank does good work if he actually calls you back, but responsiveness and dependability are two important factors in my book. I would not recommend wasting your time with Frank.

Frank is awesome! Called him on a Saturday afternoon when I discovered a blocked drain outside our basement. He came out a couple hours later, and along with a helper, replaced my building’s pump systems. It turned out to be a much bigger job than expected, but Frank stayed until it was fixed and had a positive attitude, despite dealing with sewage. He’s a champ. I definitely will use him again for any service needs.

Frank is great. I got his name and number from barney m.‘s review and gave him a call when my towel rod broke off the wall. I live in the Ukrainian Village, so he’s right in the neighborhood. He came over later that evening, fixed the towel rod, and also fixed a loose banister and checked out a problem with my toilet while he was at it. About 9 months later, during that blizzard in February 2011, I gave him a call to see if he could help shovel me out of my house. I’m a wee thing and literally am not strong enough to do it myself. He came over with his snowblower, and within 1 hour he had shoveled out a path so my dog and I could get out (and so people wouldn’t get pissed off at me for not having shoveled the sidewalk in front of my house). I keep Frank’s number handy for times like these, when I need help with random things around my house. He’s a great guy and has really helped me out of a couple pinches.
