I understand that the food is cheap but the quality is really, really awful. Worst cheeseburger I’ve had. The grilled chicken sandwich was ok. The fries were really soft and full of potato skin. Lady on the phone was rude as well. Looks like something out the trash – Completely lost my appetite.

This is great little hidden gem, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. I happened upon this place looking for nearby restaurants that had pretty good ratings. And after searching on Unilocal I came upon this place. And I have to say where it’s positioned you’d miss it if you weren’t looking for it. And when we went in I was wondering because it was empty for it to be midday. But let me tell you it quickly filled up with people, it was just perfect timing that we just beat the rush. This particular day I got an Italian beef, and it was pretty delicious and flavorful. I will definitely be back to this place when in this area, you can’t go wrong with delicious food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

They young lady at the register was nice, I order 3 steak tacos 2 plain 1 with onions n cilantro only, got home n I had 3 steak tacos with cheese lettuce etc, I was not please at all i lived to far to come back, I called to inform them of their error and they guy in the back ground says just come back I informed him it was late n I lived to far his response was oh well come back Thursday, I was pissed, I explained to her I just wanted to let her know this was the 3rd time they screwed up my order and act like it didn’t matter… Fred n Jacks needs to remember your in a community and our opinion about customers satisfaction does matter even if you don’t live in that community,

The only thing I ate here was the steak cheese fries. They give large portions of steak, flavor was pretty good.

One of Chicago’s many greasy spoons that serves up great food. It seems pretty popular, especially during the lunch rush. The steak tacos and steak fries are good; and I also hear that they have some pretty good shakes. There’s construction around the building so parking may be hard to come by during busy hours.

Fred and Jack’s!!! Been coming here for years. Most of my life really. Italian beef, dipped, sweet and hot peppers and American cheese me please!!! Way better than greasy Portillo’s. The fries are bomb and the al pastor tacos are delish.

Man I remember going to this place when I was a kid my dad would take me too Fred&Jack’s I would get a cheese burger and banana shake he would get the Italian beef with red sauce and a fountain root beer. Oh my god did life seems so simple then the cheeseburger was just a great big bundle of joy of course I was a kid also and the banana shake was so impeccable my father always enjoy the Italian beef and sometimes he would get a combo. As I grew older I got into the Italian beef and sometimes I would get a combo but I stayed with my banana shake its something that I didn’t change as a matter of fact there is still a guy that works there from when I was a kid I think he said he’s been working there for about 30 years even after the ownership change. Fred & Jack’s is just okay nothing like it used to be the seems as though they do a good business cuz there’s a line all the time and there but nothing like the old Fred & Jack’s. The Italian beef is just ok the quality of the meat is not as good as it used to be in the red sauce theme to have changed from the way it was originally I mean that red sauce was so good I used to take cups of it home it was just the bomb. Since the change of ownership there’s been a change in food product the service is still pretty good I don’t frequent this place as much as I used to I might come to Fred & Jack’s maybe twice a year and I don’t live far away versus coming oh my goodness maybe for 3 – 4 times a month compared to back in the day. Nevertheless you do get what you pay for the service is great the food is not bad but its not as good as it used to be back in the day. Then some would argue nothing is as good as it used to be back in the day, right? But as it turns out if you go to Fred & Jack’s you’ll probably enjoy yourself iw recommend the shakes the other mom Fred & Jack’s has another location on Pulaski and Roosevelt right on the alley nothing like the one on Vincent and they don’t use a red sauce for their Italian beef so if you into the red sauce you might want to stay on vent then. Fred & Jack’s you been there for a while but you’re just not as good as you used to be and that’s why I’ll come maybe about once or twice a year everyone else enjoy! bone Appetit. !! Bruce Bruce

This place is good for a quick burger or taco. I usually get the pizza puff special that comes with fries. The food is all pretty standard in terms of fast food. This place usually gets crowded after 5 p.m. during the week, but since the service is fast, the wait is usually no longer than 10 minutes. Since the kitchen is surrounded in glass, you can watch as your food is being prepared. Currently, there’s construction going on in the immediate area, so street parking isn’t as plentiful as it once was. But if you are accustomed to maneuvering your car around in small places, the parking lot should be a breeze.

These reviews really kill me. So what about the neighborhood. Don’t come over here and eat our food then Jesus. This was one of my grandfathers favorite places. I love the shakes. The amount of food you get for the price. You seriously can’t beat it

I decided to give it a try since I was in the area. The shakes are probably the best thing to order off the menu. We ordered pretty much each item off the menu the tacos are good but came out cold. The jumbo dog was good never ate a hot dog with lettuce before. I wouldn’t recommend the wings or the Italian beef I only gave it 3 stars because how good the banana and strawberry shake was.

First time here. It’s a little hidden. Saw the good Unilocal reviews and gave it a try. Nice clean location. Big parking lot. Large menu and good counter service. Great prices! I got the grilled rib eye sandwich. Covered in grilled onions. Decent. Great fries though. $ 7. Can’t beat that. Boxes of those good butter cookies sold here. I luv em. Next time I’m going to try a grilled hot dog and strawberry shake. That’s what a nice old guy recommended while I was waiting for my order.

Any place where I can get a grilled hot dog gets 5 stars from me. Fast service for pick up and them dogs taste great. Love that it is right down the street from my house. Will be stopping by more often.

Really good food. Late night hours. Reasonable wait time. Friendly cashiers, especially the African-American woman. I’ve tried their shakes, burgers, cheese steak fries(add lettuce, sour cream, and lettuce for extra change), hot dogs, and burritos. No complaints. Carry-out only. They accept cash & credit cards.

Not the best neighborhood but the food is very good! Only tried a Polish Sausage & Hot Dog but both were perfect with the Polish being the standout. All sandwiches come with good french fries. It’s usually busy but they get you in & out pretty quick! Prices very reasonable/Red Gold Ketchup packet. get dat did

Good food. Hole in the wall kinda place but those always turn out to be the best places for me. I’ll be back to try the shakes that seem to be so popular.

I come here for the milkshakes and always leave on a cloud. Why? Because the guys behind the counter always flirt. and not in the gross out way. It’s cute. The shakes here are UH-MAZE-INGGGG. Hands down, one of the best reasons to come here. It’s right off the expressway, so it’s located where anyone could come down here, but not in the best neighborhood at night. The parking lot also is TEENY as I’ve almost gotten hit every time I either exit or enter, so be careful. They are known for their tacos and burritos, and sad to say, I’ve never had either from here. When I’m here, I go for the nachos, the burgers or chicken sandwiches. And while it’s greasy food that you go for rarely, it’s good. The staff is always warm and they can handle any size crowd, and do so effectively. However, I go for the milkshakes. They have various flavors, banana, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and others. I’ve probably had all of them at least once, and I’m a traditionalist at heart, I go for either chocolate or vanilla. Oh, and they take cash only!
