I have been coming here for years. I grew up eating here at least once a week. The salsa is outstanding, also the best margarita around! The food is delicious and very fairly priced, and huge selection to choose from. The fajitas are my favorite, and also the skirt steak on occasion. Best tacos around to pick up and take home… My kids love this place too!

Quoted 80 – 90 minutes and 3.5 hours later STILLNOTHING! That’s just terrible. Very disappointed with their service.

Great find in our neighborhood! I’ve been past many times and a friend recently said this location is better than the location in the Square(little unclear to me if they’re sister restaurants). Regardless, my friend was right. I liked the ambiance better. The food was of a higher quality, and the portions slightly larger. The margaritas were delicious. Service was great and we didn’t have a wait on a Friday night. All good things! The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is that there a few Mexican places around the city that get my 5 stars. I can’t just go throwing around my taco love and devotion to just anyone.

Small wait. But good food. Went with a friend, this is one of his favorite places to go for Mexican Food. There was a little bit of a wait to be seated. We were able to sit while waiting and they text you when ready. So on a warm day, if you’re outside, you won’t miss being called. We thought our wait would be longer, it was really quick. The food was good. Portions ridiculously large. I’m still full the next morning. I had a Burritto — Carne Asada if I have to mention one thing that wasn’t great, it would only be that some of the carne Asada was a little overcooked in spots — some mouthfuls were a little crunchy for my liking. But overall, everything was very good!

I came in to Garcia’s for the second time and the service needs to be improved. Our server didn’t really pay attention to us and the bussers were so rude when they came to serve water and give me my to go bag.

Small but mighty! The service here is amazing and the food the same. I generally go for the steak & cheese enchilada(delicious!!!) but can also recommend the al pastor tacos, chicken enchiladas, and flautas. After numerous visits I have never been disappointed and can easily say this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. Last but not least — $ 5 margaritas can not be beat!

I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years and they have some of the best mexican food in Chicago. The portion size is big, price is low. I just wished they delivered :-)

One of our favorite go to spots for Mexican food. Great location, and their food is always awesome. Make sure you try their guacamole. Parking is usually pretty easy to find, and there’s a lot of little shops near by to kill some time.

I went here last night for dinner and I ordered the chicagos best burrito. After three bites it was pretty good. I took my 4 bite and as I was chewing I bit in to a hair ball. Not a piece of hair a giant hair ball. It was literally the most disgusting dining experience I have ever had. I flag the waitress over and told her and she said ok grabbed the hair ball/piece of food and went back to setting the table as if it never happened. I really wish you could give less then a star, but I would not recommend this place to any one. It was an awful experience.

This place rocks! Superb service. Awesome drinks. The food is to die for. Did I mention fantastic service? This is the easiest five star rating ever. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

The burrito here is monstrous. It is literally too much for one person to eat. Fillings were excellent, and best of all the salsa and chips they served before the meal were top notch. This is definitely the place to go on the north side to get youtr burrito on. The restaurant is part of what appears to be a attractive looking bar, so if you have a need for a burrito and a beer, check this pace out.

This is my fave Mexican restaurant. Consistently good. I often order a large salsa to keep in my fridge for the week. Best salsa ever!

Great service and great food and an unbeatable price! What more could you ask for. Their margaritas are perfectly made — not too sweet, and you can still taste the tequila. Be sure to try the cactus salad, it really was a great addition to our meal.

I live very close to the one on Lawrence and absolutely love this place. Being a creature of habit, I have a tendency to stay with the same thing and the only thing I’ve had there is the Chicago’s Best burrito. Usually I get this to go on my way home from work I have been known to call it in while on the Metra and just pick it up. Unless you are getting ready to do an Adam Richman food challenge I can guarantee you will not eat all this burrito. These burritos are HUGE! Did you hear me? HUGE!!! I have never been able to finish one even at my hungriest when I think I have the bottomless pit. And the next day? Sometimes I think they are better! It’s like the juices and such absorb into the flour tortilla shell and it’s an added treat! Also, they pour some sort of sauce over it that’s brothy cheesy with bits of green and red sometimes yellow peppers. Get yourself over there and have you one. You will not be sorry for your decision!

Very good food, I’ve eaten here many times and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how great the food is. The portions are giant so beware you can easily share any of the entrees with another. The staff here is so friendly and attentive you can’t help but want to come back!

A great local bar/restaurant if you don’t mind a high energy, sometimes loud atmosphere. Garcia’s has some of the best Margheritas around, if you’re out with friends a pitcher is highly recommended(El Presidente is my personal favorite). As for the food, the Flauta Combo is my go to dinner choice and has never disappointed. You should definitely keep this place in mind for a fun night out with friends or fam.

It’s priced well, the food is goooood and it’s a cozy date spot. Some of the better Mexican in the area. Chicken is excellent. They have a full bar. Great for take out or dine in.

I arrived around 5pm on a beautiful Thursday and the front patio was bursting with people. The lights were dim and the front entrance was sprinkled with people enjoying the food. The bar area was pretty busy with the windows open giving you a nice street and patio view. My phone hit 4% by the time the menu came and kept me from taking pictures. You get chips and salsa upon arrival and your first two baskets are complimentary. The salsa was a bit runny. My lime margarita was standard and balanced and my chicken quesadillas were 8 triangular cut pieces of greasy goodness.

Only had a $ 5 marg and it was definitely strong, but tasted like a pre-made mix was used; I guess I’m too used to Las Mañanitas and Frontera Grill homemade«mix» margs. The bartender was very efficient and nice enough. I think it’s the kind of place to go to on the way to/from the Metra for a quick drink and to-go dinner.

How is it that I’ve never written about Garcia’s? Can it be that I take the neighborhood Mexican restaurant for granted? I, and a lot of friends, have been coming here for at least 10 years. There must be something good about a restaurant when people keep coming back, year after year, burrito after taco after margarita after guacamole after. .. well, you get the picture. Garcia’s is not spectacular, but it is solid, dependable, and consistent. This is not a large restaurant. On some evenings, it is 100% full. There is a bar, and three TVs adorn the dining room and bar. Frankly, I could do without the TVs. The bar TV usually has some program in Spanish. The TVs in the dining room might be Spanish sports, or some other kind of typical professional American sports. Last night, I saw a pre-season Cubs game(Cubs were losing. Shocker.). Service is quick and efficient. If you start visiting regularly, the waitresses will get to know you quickly. Don’t expect lots of stroking from the wait staff when they are in the weeds; occasionally, I’ve wondered if they are understaffed for the busy nights, but then, a lot of nights are busy. The clientele are usually neighborhood people. A lot of police officers eat here, so either you’ll feel safe or nervous. When I eat at Garcia’s with my friend the Anarchist, she wants a table farthest away from the police. Now that the Ravenswood Metra stop has been rebuilt and expanded, more commuters than ever stop in for a quick dinner or drink. The margaritas are good. We typically get the standard ones, nothing special. They used to offer a half pitcher of margaritas which was a good fit for us middle-aged girls, but no more. A pitcher is available, but that’s too much for two people, unless you are heavy-duty drinkers. The food is good. It’s not gourmet, nor does it pretend to be. For my friends and I, particular favorites are the guacamole, nachos, quesadillas, enchiladas, avocado burritos, and fish tacos. Besides the fish tacos, we’re not big seafood eaters. Garcia’s can accommodate vegetarians easily. Vegans might find it a little tougher. Vegans can get avocado and/or beans as the fillers for the various dishes. Prices are reasonable, not cheap. Entrees are big enough that most women will take something home. Apparently they have Wi-Fi now. When I went in recently for a margarita and an appetizer, I saw a woman at another table, nursing a margarita and working on her pc. You’ll have to check with the restaurant for more information on the Wi-Fi. I like Garcia’s. It’s unpretentious, straightforward, and free of foo-foo fusion cuisine and all the sort of fancy stuff that will cost you more. Don’t go to Garcia’s for inventive dishes. Go to Garcia’s for the typical Mexican fare served straight up, no chasers. One more thing: Parking on Ravenswood Avenue is abundant and free after 5:00pm.

Delicious! The steak is tender and flavorful so whether you get the tacos, enchiladas or the burrito, the steak is a great choice. And…The burritos can easily give you another meal. They’re huge!

You know when you take someone to experience their first(fill in the blank here) and it makes you embarrassed you suggested it? That’s this place. I brought my 78 yr old aunt here based on the reviews from other locals. Her first time eating Mexican food. Well it’s so dimly lit she couldn’t read the menu. I could barely read the menu. The servers were super rude. When I asked about the queso fundido she acted like I was from another planet and ran her hands through our basket of chips to illustrate what a chip was versus a tortilla. Thanks for that. Also super annoyed when I asked what the base of the soup was(chicken or tomatoe? It’s a valid question. Brought our soup after our entrees. Side note the soup is the size of your head and is good. But share it. Everything else was just meh. So maybe look for the place with a fun friendly atmosphere next time.

They have margarita by the PITCHER here. Seriously. They make them strong. We couldn’t even finish the pitcher! Of course we started out with some lovely chips and salsa. The rest of our food was great and it came out quickly. The portions were huge, we couldn’t finish everything. The enchiladas were my favorite part of the meal, they were fantastic.

My fave place to get tacos and get f’d up on margaritas. And do it cheaply. Their $ 6.75 two taco dinner is enough to fill me up, you’re not limited to one type of taco(so mix that shit — may I suggest one steak and one ground beef), and they’re cool enough to substitute extra rice since I’m not a huge fan of beans(the whole musical fruit thing, ya know?). Their margaritas are huge, strong, and $ 7.50. Better yet, it’s always easy to grab a table and the service here is über friendly. So ya, a nice chill delicious Friday dinner for two with drinks set us back $ 30. How can you not be obsessed with this place?
