Went here for a consultation and nothing about the experience sat well with me. I’ve had braces before, but due to a broken retainer I’ve noticed some shifting and wanted to explore my options for fixing the retainer and the shift. The staff was really nice but the moment Dr. Neil started talking to me I felt like I was talking to a used car salesmen. It felt a lot like he was talking AT me instead of TO me. My guess is it had a lot to do with the fact that I mentioned to him that I couldn’t have metal braces on the outside due to the nature of my work. Because it immediately felt like he thought he was talking to just some«vapid pretty girl.» Instead of treating me like a potential patient, it felt like I was being treated like a potential payout. Instead of talking to me about ALL of my options and then giving me his recommendation, he only talked to me about some advanced technology that he was the sole sales representative for – I had to keep asking about other methods of treatments – and it just felt a lot like I was being taken for a ride. Mentioning over and over how it «wasn’t that much money»(to whom?!) and how I could pay for it with«one modeling job.» Stay out of my finances and talk to me about ALL of my treatment options, please. Honestly, it wasn’t even the price of the treatment that I found off-putting, it was the aggressiveness with which he was trying to pitch it as my only option while neglecting to even talk me through the other methods of treatment. It made it hard for me to trust what he was saying. Orthodontic work isn’t cheap and I certainly wasn’t expecting him to give the braces away, but I would have much preferred a more patient-centered approach to my consultation.

At the recommendation of a friend I took my son in for a evaluation with Dr. Neil. He and his staff were very friendly, they took time to explain exactly the recommended treatment plan for him. My son had much of his work done at the Hyde Park office, this was very convenient as my son was able to walk or take the bus to the office after school. Each time he attended an appointment without me or my wife it was evident that the staff had taken time to make sure that he knew how his treatment was going and what he should be doing for his oral hygiene as he was able to clearly explain to us what he had been told. Overall my son and I are happy with the treatment he received and had a pleasant experience with his treatment.

I am still unfortunately forced to go to this dental office because my child has two years worth of braces left to go. However, if I could go back in time, I would not by any means patronize Get It Straight Orthodontics. They are rude, inconsiderate people who think they are doing me a favor by taking $ 6000 from me for dental work. Beverly, at the front desk, is absolutely horrible to deal with. Considering the experience starts with the desk, I have nothing good to say about her or the office. She has the worst disposition. I’d rather have teeth pulled then call in to make an appointment or ask a question. The prices are well above market rate and the wait time is long and ridiculous. Take it from me, do your research and go to an office that appreciates and values you as a client.
