I wish I could give ZERO stars. I was referred to Johnny B. I made an appointment for July 3, 2015 admittedly a busy day before a holiday but it was also the day before my wedding so it had to be done fresh. I got a sew-in that I paid $ 350 for which was to include a bridal hair styling on the day of, the next day in my hotel suite. There was no confusion on this because we went over styles that I wanted for the ceremony so that my sew-in would be done to accommodate that style. Another stylist did my entire sew in because Johnny severely overbooked, did I forget to mention it was also my birthday, lol. Anyway, the stylist who did the work was great, Jasmine. She did the sew-in and Johnny cut and styled me. We went over the arrangements for the next day, I paid and clarified that I didn’t owe more for the next day and left. The next day I send him the hotel info per our convo and no response. Call, no response. Call and text repeatedly, no response!!! At this point my make-up artist, the fantastic Tinaya Weems was in my suite doing my make-up. She referred him so she starts calling and texting him, NORESPONSE!!! As you can imagine, I’m an emotional wreck and since I’m pregnant in addition to being a nervous bride, I burst into tears. We had to take a make-up break so that I could calm down and we both called people we knew who could help me out. I had to do the best I could on my wedding day!!! THATDESPICABLEHUMANBEINGJOHNNY B NEVERRESPONDED, EVER! About a month later, after I calmed down enough, I called him just to see what he had to say for himself. He rushed me off the phone and never called back. WHATTYPEOFSUBHUMANPIECEOFCRAPTREATSSOMEONELIKETHATONTHEBIGGESTDAYOFTHEIRLIFE. I WILLNEVERSTEPFOOTINTHATPLACEAGAIN. AND I’m a lawyer and I haven’t ruled out suing, depends on the response to this review.

First of all, there are a lot of different stylist at this salon so the service you get depends greatly on which stylist you chose. That being said, chose Cache! I have NEVER had to deal with waiting — she does not over book. She is ALWAYS on time and provides the highest level of customer service. Further, my hair is always, and I mean always, laid. She is the best! I’m a law student and I work a lot. I cannot spend all day in the shop dealing with late stylist who don’t care about me or my time. So, I don’t! I like the atmosphere of the shop but all stylist are not created equal. If you want great service and pretty hair, go to Cache! I’ve been going to her for over a year and have not been disappointed. She does not let you leave her chair unhappy!

today was my first time here and I was quite pleased. The staff made me feel so welcome. They took the time to see what they could do with my hair as it is a bit unmanageable and I did not feel rushed or pressured :) This will be my first time getting extensions and I am soo excited. Cache will be doing them and I am confident that it will be great! I will return to post a review after and let you all know how it came out !

My friend and I visited from Jamaica and absolutely fell in love with the salon. The customer service was Sooo good !!! My stylist Brandy is amazing at her craft very knowledgeable and friendly … Willing to help you with whatever !!! I love glam lux I will def be coming back don’t believe all these reviews !!!

His sulky demeanor and unfriendly personally need to be addressed so he can be fired. seriously, this shows that he has a problem within himself and therefore his bad and negative energy that he produces gets transferred to his customers! This happens every time! No, thats not the way you are supposed to be in life. He makes his customers feel unwelcome because of the problem he has with his inner self, and HEKNOWSIT. I have been going here for a couple years since my stylist Chris Curse joined the team. I love this place! Chris Curse is awesome and has been doing my hair since 2010. I even flew him to Boston in 2013 to do my hair and makeup for my wedding; wouldn’t trust anyone else on my big day. Everyone here is very nice. Please go! I do every 2 weeks! #Lovethem

Worst hair ever… A week in a ½ in from my sow in and a ton of shedding… Went back to report bad hair and even brought in left over hair from my bundle and the front desk gurl saw how much shedding happened in front of me… Told me i had to take down my hair to get a replacement! Thats insane, it was clear i got bad hair… Owner heather offered me 15% off a new pack but WHYWOULD I REBUY hair if its clearly bad!!! It was my 1st sow in so i was green to the weave world… NOW knowing what i know i paid WAYYYYY to much for they hair! Horrible experience! Went to my extension and got STELLAR customer service!

DONOTGOHERE!!! point, blank period!!! Spend your money and time with a hair company and salon who truly values and appreciates the customer. I wish I could give them 0 stars. I’m from Tn and having move here to Chicago it was difficult to find a stylist who can do my hair the way I like. I started seeing Johnny B who works here and while he’s great at styling, his attitude sucks! :/Everyone who works here has a terrible and stuck up attitude. I purchased hair from here once. The hair was average and overpriced. If you’re looking for quality hair that lasts I suggest Industry Locs. I regret spending my money here, supporting this terrible company. Lessons learned, don’t make the same mistakes I made spend your money elsewhere please!

Purchased hair after the hype when Jennifer from basketball wives promoted it. I was sold because her hair was so beautiful. I got duped! I bought the first batch which turned out to be ok. In my support of small businesses, I returned to buy the next batch. Omg. The hair shed and matted after the first wash. Being a connoisseur of weave, I was livid. I am sticking with my extensions plus. Never got a bad batch.

I was really nervous about going to Glam Luxe because of all the poor reviews. However, I needed some hair and I wanted to take a chance on the service. I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t greeted right away, but I was also not ignored. They showed me the hair explained everything and was able to answer all of my questions without making me feel like I was stupid. After I bought the hair and had it dyed, I am in love and about to make my way there to purchase more. I did not have my hair installed there, I simply purchased it. This is my favorite hair and I am so glad I took a chance. I do not know what changes, if any, were made, but my experience was pleasant and I purchased the hair in the beginning of February 2014.

I purchased the vixen body wave hair thinking that the quality would be somewhat decent. The hair sheds a lot even after my beautician sealed the weft, and in certain spots the tracks were not aligned. She always wondered if the hair was worth the hype and I guess now she knows, too bad that it was my head this terrible hair was installed on :-(

well let me start out by saying another sad day for a sister… i don’t react by going off screaming and hollering i just write and warn others please i beg you don’ttttttttttt enter this place of busines it’s not good… the young lady did my hair was very nice and i explained to her i am a tomboy i can’t take good care of my hair i need a style that i can keep up with so she proceeded to doing my hair and told me how to keep it up well… i woke UP the next morning and i looked like a hot mess like i didn’t spend my whole check on this… omg so i called and the only thing they could offer me is a re curl really and i have to pay to get it done over… not good i’ve never ever received that type of treatment i lost a lot of money and i don’t want any one else to so with that said you have been warned! have an amazing day and don’t STEPFOOTINTHATPLACE… horribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee customer service… urghhhhhhhhhhhhhh! i am so ashamed of myself i should have read Unilocal first! and they really need zero damn stars!

I was duped into buying extremely poor quality hair for an arm and a leg here at Glam Luxe. Spent almost $ 300 for clip-ins thinking I would get the Jennifer Williams(BBW) look, but instead I got a bird’s nest. It started matting and tangling the SAMEDAY that I put it in. I was on a date when this hair decided to show off it’s ability to creep and crawl into a Brillo pad. My date, making a perplexed face, politely informed me «something is going on with your hair.» When I went to the restroom, I looked like the professor from Back to the Future. I took them out at that instant. After a cool down period I called Glam Luxe to complain. They apologized and made arrangements to have me come back to replace the hair. Fine. I go back to replace the hair. The chick collects the bird nest from me and proceeds to give me another that tangles in 2days. Idk what kind of scam this con woman and man are pulling, but I work to hard for my money to throw it away at Glam Suxe.

It is evident that although Unilocal requests that friends and associates are prohibited from giving reviews, that the two positive responses are definitely friends. As I received not one iota of customer service. Or perhaps Glam Luxe reserves customer service for select persons. Perhaps basketball wives and local celebrities LOL(see the photo gallery) Not only was the staff rude, short and unprofessional but greatly unprepared to answer queries. When questioned about particulars of the product(washing instructions, care and maintenance, weather or element response) you receive one stock answer«it’s human hair ». Duh! I knew that when I came in. This was equivalent with the experience of the neighborhood beauty supply .My biggest regret is that had to purchase the hair because of and event and I was unable to order from my usual vendor as they are not local. I hope that they take the time to educate themselves on the product and employ at least one person who understands(especially in this economy) that a CUSTOMER is not a interruption of business but they are the BUSINESS.
