* Burglarized (no back security gate – I had one installed)
* Frequent water leaks from above that would go unfixed for weeks despite frequent calls/​pleadings
* Damage from major water issue never repaired
* Window frames rotten
* Insect issues
* Stove was cut off by Peoples Gas for gas leak
* On Christmas Eve, received threat of being taken to court over a few dollars in back rent from 6 months before supposedly owed (turned out to be an accounting error) – notice slipped under door at 5:00 p.m.
* Failed to mail lease renewals so ended up month to month
* When I notified them I was moving out, a couple weeks later I received notice that rent had been raised months ago and that I owed increased rate of back rent
* When I returned the keys, the owner had a big sign on his office that said something to the effect of «GO AWAY»
* Did not get security deposit back. Was so happy to be gone that I didn’t fight it
I hope things have improved. I wouldn’t count on it.

I lived in a building managed by Globe Realty in Hyde park. I have to say, the rent was reasonable for the space I got. I had a huge one bedroom apartment for $ 750, including water and heat. The living room itself was as big as as some of the 1-​bed apartments I see on the north side. My California king size bed fit in the bedroom with no problem, along with a dresser and entertainment center.
The maintenance was not always the best. The refrigerator had issues with cooling and it was never repaired. There was no laundry in the building, we had to go to the building next door. The bathtub used to clog quite often due to faulty plumbing but, the maintenance never bothered to fix it.
Three stars for the size of the apartment, location, and being pet friendly. I was right by the lake near promontory point. Maintenance leaves much to be desired.
