Is it just me or are slashies some of the best bars in Chicago? Anytime I’m able to belly up to the bar then grab the same beer I was just drinking as a roadie I’m all about it and Go Tavern and Liquors is one of our citie’s finest. There’s a super extensive selection of everything and if it’s not on the bar menu they’ll open anything from the cooler so it is. Pair this privilege with scratch off lottery tickets and some of the nicest dive bar tenders anywhere in town and Go is definitely a go for a fun and financially responsible evening out.

Do you like drinking bomb ass beer in a super friendly place with sports on perfectly placed TV’s? Plain and simple folks! Also got packaged liquors and beers and wines and cigs and snacks that you can walk on out with. 5* establishment, often imitated, never duplicated! Cream of the crop, Go Taven!

I’ve long given up on the bar scene as old age creeps up my increasingly crooked spine. Although, a while back I stumbled upon Go Tavern. From my first few steps into this place I knew I had found the grail, the cup of Christ, or whatever made up artifact that helps capture my joy from finding this place! The beer and drinks are cheap and delicious, the staff is down to earth and super friendly, it’s part liquor store part bar which is not only amazing but convenient as hell! I love watching the Cubs and Hawks here and they actually have the sound of the game on?! There’s even a patio for those nice weather days. So anytime anyone asks my to «go out». If they’re not goin’ to Go, then I ain’t goin’.

This is the best neighborhood bar in Chicago. I have lived here for 5 years and gone to every hole-in-the-wall that I can find(I suggest you do the same) and, trust me, this is the only one that has ever really felt like home. You can buy beer to go or sit at the bar and watch pretty much whatever you want. I’ve been here to see sporting events, watched movies that are so bad they’re good and gotten drunk enough to yell inappropriate things at the weather channel/local news. Great draft and bottle selection. Really friendly staff and the locals are always a hilarious time. If you want to make sure that your girlfriend/boyfriend is a keeper, take them here. If they have a great time, you win. If they don’t, dump their ass because nothing will ever be good enough for them and I, personally, don’t like them. I’m serious, if your boyfriend/girlfriend doesn’t like GO Tavern, I want you to call or text them that I personally hate them.

So I remeber when this bar was called Dorothy’s. And people in Logan square told me it was a seedy bar where Latin kings and prostitutes hung out. Maybe around 2012 I came in here for the first time, lots of old things in Logan were seeming more friendly and opening up. This place is amazing. Cheapest bar you’ll ever find in a hip Chicago neighborhood. I think it’s liqour license must be grandfathered in like your unlimited data on Verizon because they are also a liqour store. You can try a beer at the bar, for like 2.50 I mean good beer too, and if you like it can buy the 6 pack, they have awesome variety. Great whiskey selection. If you’ve never tried something like Johnny Walker blue(scotch) and want to do it for half the price you would anywhere else… Go tavern. Friendly staff too, it’s a win for a good drink.

As a bar, it gets about two stars… But in terms of beer/wine selection it’s close to being unrivaled.

One of my favorite places to grab a drink with a friend. The drinks are cheap. The bartenders are great. The outdoor patio is really nice and relaxed. I would recommend starting the night here with the first couple of drinks.

Best spot to grab cheap drinks, hear your fav tunes(you pick and pay from an automated jukebox) and chat with friends. I was skeptical at first but it’s a really cool place.

This place is awesome! I love love LOVE going here because of the vibe and prices. $ 1.75 for some domestic beers and about $ 3 for Lagunitas. You CANNOT beat that! I love the setup, with the liquor store there too. The coolers of beer are right behind you as you sit at the bar. Only in Logan Square! The bartenders are great and funny to talk to. Great, diverse crowd. Last time I went, they had NCAA Bball tourney games on; hard to find good places in Logan Square to watch sports. Also, they have a local tamale guy that comes by! Get the spicy and buy a tamale for your bartender if they want on! Will keep bringing my friends here, hope it doesn’t get toooooo popular…

This is the perfect little neighborhood bar. Friendly service and a great beer selection. Seating is limited but it never gets too crowded or too loud. There is a great selection of craft beers. You can hang out or take your selection to go. Divey but not gross. I kind of hope that people don’t read this review because I want to keep this place all to myself!

Not going to say much about this place other than, just go and you’ll enjoy yourself. Your craft beer belly will! Plus your wallet will too!

This place is great to me when in need of a beer, pay is low, and/or I realized I should really get out of the house and throw a little excitement into my every day schedule. The bartenders are so nice and the owner is so friendly. He is the only Greek run-in I had who didn’t put me down when I gave him the ‘I know, I know, I am Greek but I can’t speak it’ face which deserves much thanks. It’s also the only bar I feel comfortable sitting at by myself while waiting for company instead of hanging around outside and chain smoking trying not to look weird. Last time I was there, the patio door locks if you shut it all the way. Took me five minutes and convincing from my friends that I can knock on the door and no one will care. Nope. The whole bar looked at me and smiled and I died a little inside and possibly stayed in the bathroom for a good amount of time. But thank you to the bartender who ran over once he saw my face of instant regret and awed at my amazing people skills. The lighting is the only issue but people need to see their options so I get it. Thanks for staying cheap!

Don’t come here !! Its horrible! You will regret it! Enter at your own risk! In all seriousness, this is the best craft beer bar in the city. You absolutely cannot beat the prices! The selection is excellent. Its divey, not crowded on the weekdays and just a great neighborhood bar. I don’t really want to share it with more people! Mike the owner is super nice and although the crowd can be occasionally rowdy it isn’t worse than you’re typical wasted encounters in WP or LS. When I’m craving a really good beer I always GO to GO because why would I GO anywhere else and pay double? We’ve recommended the place to 2 AIRBNBers now and they absolutely loved it as well. Proud to have this place in the neighborhood!

Brief facts about Dorothy’s: –The drinks are cheap. The lights are fluorescent. –Although it’s not a true dive bar(cleaner bathrooms, fewer professional drunks, more women under the age of 45). –But it is one of the few«packaged goods stores» still remaining in Chicago, which is arguably better. –For the uninitiated, «packaged goods store» refers to a liquor store that also has a bar in the same space. –Which is basically what it sounds like. –PBR: $ 2 –Bell’s Two-Hearted: $ 3 –Eagle Rare: $ 4.5 –There is a great little outdoor patio in the back –Where we loudly debated the most efficient and humane way to execute someone –And where at least two other complete strangers chimed in with their own thoughts –And where I ran into the same strapless-dress-wearing girl twice. –And where twice she mistook my particular brand of laconic facetiousness for casual hostility and left the premises as a result. –That was probably only partly my fault.

Great neighborhood bar /liquor store. No frills, no mixology, no atmosphere. Just cheap drinks, good service, and a really large selection of booze and beer. Cider too! Prices are way low since its essentially a bar inside a liquor store, which is great for you. not so great if you don’t like having your eyes assaulted by people going way past the limit on any given night.(Please do not order another round of jäger-bombs!!)

It’s a liquor store! No… it’s a bar! Wait… it’s both? Yeah, it’s both. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but there is such a place that is both bar and liquor store. They have quite the wide selection of… well everything. I like beer, and they had plenty to choose from! Super cheap prices too! The only down side is that it does get crowded, and it is a small place. They only have seats at the bar, so if you don’t get there early you will be standing around. Also, the service is great, but it’s hard to get their attention when there are so many people sitting at the bar. The bartenders don’t really see you. Nevertheless, I am a fan. They need more places like this!

I dig this place. From the amazingly cute bartender who studied Wiemar history to the other dudes who make this place hum this is a real bar-and cash and carry place. Getting a seat at the bar can be tough on a game night, but the mix of people in here is what makes it fun. From the newbie hipsters who just ventured west of Kedzie, to the old guy who mops up the floors, to the old hipsters who«remember when this was a bad area» to the older folks who have been coming here for years. It is just about as real Chicago as you can get and I love it when these places can change with the times and stay in business as the hipster gentrification spreads. Good beers and a real vibe make this place a winner.

Don’t come here. You’ll make their prices go up. However, if you’re ok with drinking in a bar in a liquor store(the old fashioned Chicago way) with a bunch of kids trying desperately too hard to be cool/hipster/whatever-is-faddish-now, than you’re set here. I’m preparing for the whiny reviews stating«Ugh, it’s soooo far» and«The neighborhood is bad.» Again, don’t come here in your ZipCar. Stay in West Lakeview Park Center Village or whatever it’s called now.

Okay so it may seem like I work for this place but I don’t, I’m just incredibly enthusiastic and I have some time on my hands. I also frequent the place because I love it so much. I just added photos of the current menus and the new exterior. I’d hate for Unilocalers to get confused. But really, guys, c’mon. Do you like craft beer? All craft beer drafts are between $ 2.50 and $ 4. You can’t beat that. Last night we were drinking Anchor, Sierra Nevada and Great Lakes bottles for $ 1 because they were on special. $ 1!!! That’s cheaper than if I bought them in a 12 pack. Not into craft beer? Okay, well PBR drafts are $ 1.75 and Miller and Bud are $ 1.50. I would never recommend you opt for those over the craft selection but to each their own, old schoolers. They have a huge selection of bottles and cans, and their whiskey selection is top notch. We tried this really rare(and normally astronomically expensive) Goose Island bourbon barrel aged beer for only $ 10 a bottle. That’s a steal compared to any of the other few places that you can find it at. If you’re into shooters, or if you’re feeling a little adventurous, try the lemon drop shooters(only $ 1.50 if you ‘like’ Go Tavern on Facebook) or Thin Mint shooters. I’m not big into girly drinks, but I always end up getting one of these every time I’m there because they taste like candy but they are STRONG. Definitely a good combination. There are 3 large TVs that are always playing whatever game is on. Obviously Mike and all of the staff at Go Tavern are awesome. Everyone who frequents the place knows that. This is such a great neighborhood dive bar that even if you’re visiting you’ll feel like you live around the corner and have been going here for years. There is a really strange yet wonderful camaraderie among the patrons that I feel is lost in most bars these days. If you want you can sit at the bar by yourself and watch the game in peace, or if you’re feeling social there are plenty of friendly people who are up for good(or at least fun drunk) conversation. This is a great place to go to alone or with a group. Again, gotta love the snack selection. Since it is a liquor/convenience store as well a bar there are tons of awesome cheap snacks. Also the tamale guy has been known to make appearances as well as pizza guys selling $ 8 pizzas. So obviously my review is meant to encourage people to come, however if you suck and don’t see the charm in a slashie dive then don’t bother coming. I say this mainly because I’m usually there and I don’t want to hear stuck up people complaining that this is nothing like the Aviary. It’s not. Know what you’re getting into and know what you’re getting into is awesome.
